Don’t ask stupid questions, Elf.
It’s his nature to reply to most questions with sarcasm and bite, but what’s unusual is that this time he manages to hold his tongue. His disappearing act had worked pretty well for awhile, and no one knew where Charles was, which was the whole point. But since he was still putting himself out there, chauffeuring people around, he was bound to be tracked down. That didn’t mean he was happy about it.

“ In the flesh, such as it is. ” He coughs once, shrugs a shoulder, but can’t look Kurt in the eye. “ The hell’re you doin’ here ? ”
for a moment, he doesn’t dare to move. barely does he dare to breathe. could be a dream -- they’re like that, sometimes. when he’s back in the golden haze of the glory days when they were x-men, xavier’s mighty mutants, saving the day, nothing on earth could stop them.
it feels like more than a dozen lifetimes ago. seeing his friend again, for a second it feels almost like getting something back, something-- someone he’s lost and missed so terribly.
logan’s not ever been a hugger, but kurt has always been. and he’s slow, now, slower than he was when he was a young man, but in a breath he’s close enough to throw shaky arms around logan’s shoulders and hold on, just for a moment. when he pulls away, it’s to look into logan’s eyes, to shake away that last bit of disbelief.
“i--- was looking. not just for you but-- anyone.” he takes a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts, his composure. “those of us left, and they are few-- i had heard. wanda, she and i-- we learned others may still remain. like me, who were not around----that day. who went off the grid, and i expected to find magma, avalanche-- my friend, i never thought-- i didn’t--”
he breathes. “--i did not know you were out here to find."
