I first posted this in a reply to a Reddit post, but I want to share it here too. I have a curated 4h playlist so I'll just name some of the songs I like most for Jason and why (no particular order). It's both songs I think he'd listen to as well as songs I think are so him.
Dirt - Alice in Chains. I think he'd like Alice in Chains in general, a feeling of contained anger and resentment, like Nine Inch Nails and Nirvana had a baby. "One who doesn't care is one who shouldn't be / I've tried to hide myself from what is wrong for me (...) You, you are so special / You have the talent to make me feel like dirt / And you, you use your talent to dig me under / And cover me with dirt". I think he might relate hence why he started listening to it, but over time it's just what you want to listen when you're fixing your bike. From an extra-diegetic point of view, this can also be read as his resentment towards Tim in Teen Titans (2003) #29, and how he clashes with Bruce since Bruce is the better face of justice in Gotham (as seen in the last confrontation of UtRH)
N95 - Kendrick Lamar. We all love to imagine Jason listening to punk and rock, but hear me out... He definitely wants some clever lyricism when he's pondering whatever matter while in a rooftop. Lots of critique on this song, of calling out, which is what he does: Calling out hypocrisy and unfulfillment. Not as self-reflective as "Dirt", the more reason for him to listen to it without feeling personally challenged.
¿Por qué te vas? - Jeanette. Ok this one he would not listen to, perhaps once while crying the algorithm played it to him and he cried harder and wanted to kill whoever put it there. "Bajo la penumbra del farol / se dormirán / todas las cosas que quedaron por decir (...) Todas las promesas de mi amor se irán contigo / Me olvidarás / Junto a la estación yo lloraré igual que un niño / Porque te vas" ("Under the shade of streetlights / laid asleep / all the things left to say (...) All promises of my love leave with you / You'll forget me / In the station I'll cry like a kid / Because you're leaving"). TELL ME THIS ISN'T ROBIN JASON
Unnatural Selection - Muse. The vibe is not so much him, not completely, I get it, but look at the lyrics. "I'm hungry for some unrest / I wanna push it beyond a peaceful protest / I wanna speak in a language that you'll understand" If this isn't Jason bringing violence in Gotham to prove his point to Bruce I don't know what will be. I can see the edits building themselves.
God of War - WARGASM (UK). Back to what he would actually listen to, this is a good mix of not extremely heavy and a good vibe, definitely can see him fighting some thugs. Very violent for obvious reasons, but not without a reason, it's bringing back the energy the world has given. Kind of an early Bring me the Horizon vibe with classical emo/pop-punk.
Springtrap - OtherWorlds. This is kind of a crack choice, for fun, it's like FNaF mixed with metal, can't understand the lyrics, just vibes. That's kind of how I feel Jason dying and coming back to life. I don't like to play it out loud because... well, obvious reasons, I don't like having to say "no wait it gets good" when it starts paying. Plus the monologue in the middle goes hard af
Pump It - Black Eyed Peas. He's listening to this while going into a fight I just feel it, he's having fun, he's kicking ass left and right, and I think he'd like the Misirlou element, he looks like a kid that grew up with Pump Fiction. He just wouldn't dance and would fight before accepting even headbopping.
That's all but if you have other suggestions pls let me know!! I want to add more songs to my Jason Todd playlist.
My family is going through a hard time, I will pay my education with my savings, but my accommodation doesn't include lunch, and eating in London is expensive. I'm searching for a job, in the mean time, I have no income.
If you want to help me get lunch during my education abroad, you can help me by buying a commission.
I know some people can't donate, some people think 2€ is too much, I have a discount code "HELPANARTIST" with 25% discount.
