10 followers? Coolio. Sorry for not keeping this as active as I'd hoped. Kinda lame to pull out the "life" stuff so early into the blog, but yeah. Life. I'll post more soon I promise.

Jackson County, since 2013

If all goes according to plan, Jackson County should adopt a new flag today. The flag was chosen in a contest among local students. It features the dome of the historic courthouse in Sylva. (And so did the four other finalists apparently.)

When it comes to local flags like this you kind of expect they’re going to have a lot of detail. And even though this one has a lot going on, it never feels cluttered or busy. Overall a good choice I think.

This is actually the meeting flag of the 38th NAVA meeting in Indianapolis. Combines the checkered flag a (representing the Indianapolis Motor Speedway) with the flag of Indianapolis. NAVA, the North American Vexillological Association, are far more insane about flags than I am.

Cumberland, since 2012

The flag of the historic English county of Cumberland was officially registered with the UK Flag Registry in December of last year. The flag is based on the county’s traditional banner of arms and was redrawn by vexillographer Philip Tibbetts. It features the county’s official floral emblem, the Parnassus flower. The same flowers can be found on the flag of Cumbria.

Flag of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast in Russia. I typically dislike rainbow flags, but this one sets itself apart

A 1946 proposal for the Canadian flag. The current on is definitely great, but I also rather like this one. 

"The Flag's Theme: Two great races, united in nine provinces under one central government. The chevrons [arrows]...represent the first possessors of Canadian Soil, the Indians...[and are] not only emblematic of Canada's past, but also of its future [as they are] indicative of unlimited progress."

Kabardino-Balkaria; I typically dislike tricolors, but I really like this design. Eye catching, and unique colors. The mountain in the center is Mount Elbrus, the largest in the Caucasus and, by some definitions, all of Europe.
