It looks like, in the last shot of Carmy ever, he's gazing at Sydney in front of Richie as she cuts up Evie's birthday cake and narrates the whole thing. That's his family, that's his wife!
the entire premise of veilguard kills me bc it's truly like
ok. it's established early on that the black city holds the blight. every time an archdemon dies, it opens the black city locks a little bit, so there's 2 blights of time left before the whole thing collapses. this was a common theory even before dai and trespasser, bc of foreshadowing in the chant of light, and the sort of obvious question looming over the narrative of "what happens when thedas runs out of archdemons?" thedas is a dark setting, the archdemons didn't seem to be the source of the darkspawn, and clearly the answer was not going to be "yay the blights stop! peace and love on planet thedas :)" but something worse.
then it's revealed in trespasser: ok, solas managed to seal the black city with the blight and the evil elven evanuris, and place the veil around it, back when there was no veil to interfere with magic, and he had his orb and full power. and he no longer has either of those. and in dai, he says he didn't expect being "physically in the fade," to be possible, so presumably going into the fade and then getting to the black city was not ever in his plan. that also makes sense bc corypheus wants to do that too. and if it was that easy, dai would be 5 minutes long, when he just walks back into the breach and retakes the maker's throne or whatever immediately, haha. clearly something besides being physically in the fade is required to reach the black city.
so one can assume that the veil removal is a step in accessing the black city to reseal it, right. that would be logical!! and then with the reveal of the evanuris' lifeforce being tied to the veil, that gets even more reinforced. if they're affected when the archdemons die, then the veil is weakening, and the black city blight is getting closer to being released at the same time. which makes sense as a Cool Clever Plan™️ for solas to have cooked up, to use his enemies to basically power their own cage. which then eventually got undercut by the mortal magisters, that he didn't expect and could not plan for. overall the impression through the games is that the blight and the evanuris were enormous threats that could not be stopped, only contained through these desperate measures. and clearly the evanuris are almost impossible to kill, if even mythal is still kicking around thousands of years after all of the others ganged up on her to murder her.
and then it goes: no actually. solas didn't need to do any of that 6 dimensional chess, reality altering shit to bind all of the evanuris eternally. it's actually fairly easy to kill them! solas put himself into a coma for 5000 years just to avoid a few boss battles, apparently? rook can kill them, but the whole ancient elf rebellion couldn't? and then solas, who couldn't kill them before, and is not actually immortal, and is only one guy, can substitute in for all their energy to keep the veil/black city closed. somehow? even if he just got stabbed? and thedas now exists on a status quo based on putting a guy in eternal solitary confinement using blood magic? yay(?)
very stable situation. SURELY the tevinter magisters will not try to fuck around and find out again, with this even flimsier setup-

No, I haven't. But since you are asking, I actually did now.
That is going to be a long post....spoilers obviously, all acts + endings.
Summary:
His act 2 quest in Kiava Gamma affects the etudes InterrogatorQuestGoodOutcome and InterrogatorQuestEvilOutcome - both affect his act 4 quest and the endings.
His act 4 quest has him acting differently depending on these etudes and sets / unlocks doubtful/stoic Heinrix flags- these can affect the ending too.

Look under Etudes or Search'n Pick + Etudes and for "InterrogatorQuest" to get both Etudes. Romance can be started under Etudes too - etude name is just Heinrix (two entries).
Look under Search'n Pick + Flags and for "Heinrix" to see his DoubtfulHeinrix and StoicHeinrix flags.
So far I noticed the Harsh/Mercy counters for Heinrix first quest on Kiava Gamma. When you speak with the Techpriest and when you encounter the mutants your dialog options set the harsh/mercy counter for Heinrix. This affects his response - if you have a higher harsh counter and then ask him for mercy/iconoclast he might not follow your request...

Here in toybox it looks like the iconoclast option triggers the InterrogatorQuestEvilOutcome. But: I tried it and took it and still I got the good outcome. So you can take it.
The outcome will set the Etudes InterrogatorQuestGoodOutcome and InterrogatorQuestEvilOutcome which affect his endings (-> depending on other conditions - if he is romanced and leave the inquisition it seems it doesn’t have an effect).
2. Doubtful/stoic Heinrix Flags
There are also the two doubtful/stoic Heinrix flags. They are set in his act 4 quest (Emelina) depending on your choice. His responses here are also affected by the InterrogatorQuestEvil/GoodOutcome Etudes.
Depending on your dialog choice (Emelina asks you what you would have done) you will unlock doubtful or stoic flag:
His dialog is also different depending on the InterrogatorQuestGoodOutcome or InterrogatorQuestEvilOutcome.
In the InterrogatorQuestGoodOutcome he will kill Emelina (directly)
in InterrogatorQuestEvilOutcome he will keep her alive to interrogate her and to extract information.
3. Endings in different combinations
I used my run (iconoclast/sided with Xavier but he gets killed in the epilog) and played around with the values. Here are the endings if non romanced:

Romanced
If he stays with RT:
No difference found between interrogator evil/good outcome or stoic/doubtful points if he stays with you (requires min. 3 corruption points -> starts etude Heresy). There is also an ending where he is not Master of Whispers - not clear yet how it is triggered.
If he remains with the Inquisition:
You get the romance slide that you have a long distance relationship until you both die and additionally the ending slides for what he does while he is in the inquisition (depending on the flags/etudes set in his quests).
I hoped this answers your question. There are more conditions for the endings of course, such as Xavier not dying for example. From what I heard, making Jae a shadow baron might also help Heinrix to stay alive when he would otherwise be assassinated....
The cops very clearly planted evidence on him because they had to make an arrest because all eyes were on them and whoever actually did the deed was making them look stupid.
Why would the real killer hero have kept the weapon on his person and traveled two states over while carrying it and a manifesto in his bag, conveniently turning the crime into a federal matter? The same guy whose bag they found in a park, filled with monopoly money? Why did the police turn off their bodycams, take Luigi's stuff, drive a block away, turn their bodycams back on, go back into the restaurant, and then arrest him?
From the moment of his arrest, even left-of-center media has been presuming his guilt without examining anything (e.g. calling him "the killer" instead of "alleged" or "accused") and then when I say he didn't do it, the nearest person chimes in with some quip that tells me they think he did do it but should go free anyway. Don't get me wrong, I would have the same attitude if he had done it. But he didn't. It makes me feel like the only sane person in the world, even among my staunchly leftist friends.
What is insane to me is how even black stand-up comedians who live in New York suddenly were like “Oh, no, the NYPD would never plant evidence!” the minute this dude got arrested.

doing what she tells him to at the bbq in 0.1sec and then catching himself like wtf am i doing... visiting her at night to retrive his credit card only to in fact not pick up his card at all even though he clearly paid for dinner aka an entire cow... OPENING AN ENTIRELY NEW BRANCH WITHIN HIS COMPANY FOR HER ON A WHIM... this episode was so delightfully delicious i love this show already
