it wasn't that uncommon to run across wild beasts and creatures of the like within the confines of mondstadt's whispering woods, she'd known: having first encountered the great dragon of the east here ━ dvalin ━ thanks to her brother who she'd later discover was the figurehead and de-facto leader of the abyss order. the sun shone overhead brightly and the precippice of another commission well completed was upon the traveler and her floating-fairy companion and teyvat's self-stylized "best" travel guide: paimon!
gently does she leader her new scholar friend, whose name she'd not yet come to know, through the pervasive foliage with the finesse of someone who'd done this very thing hundreds of times already ( and she had ), making sure not to step on the occassional local lizard that scuttled by. a sigh resounds from her left, paimon shielding her eyes from the sunlight. ❝ are we ━━ are we there yet? ❞ came the complaint and like usual, her eyes rolled as she silently lead the trio. ❝ almost, ❞ came her reply, finally, vocables soft. she came to know these woods like the back of her own hand, as if she was native, and traversed them with ease.
footsteps stop at the same time attention is grabbed by the light sound of hooves, scuffling across the woods' flooring, and her body tenses accordingly. deftly as the scholar bumps into her back, she pushes them that much further behind herself protectively, not yet making a move to brandish her sword. she wasn't scared ; she faced monsters unlike anything the average mortal would see daily. aureate gaze is cool and analytical, yet she doesn't advance, doesn't make a move to attack whatever's chanced upon them. the sound of hooves draw closer and soon from the bushes emerged an unknown anemo-attuned creature.

WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING?! ❞ if she couldn't count on paimon to do much else, she could verily count on her to overreact where the situation called for you to remain calm. looking back at her companions, free hand's index finger comes to rest gently at the touch of pressed lips: be silent. ❝ whatever it is, it doesn't seem keen on attacking us. be calm. it looks a bit [...] lost. ❞ upon closer inspection, whatever it was: it was a baby of its kind. ❝ maybe it got lost from its family and sought out help in returning ▬▬ that said: i don't think we have any reason to fear it and it isn't trying to hurt us. we should help it. what's the harm in one more detour?❞

" the comb struggles against the knots on his long hair. lumine starts at the bottom, carefully working her way up, detangling his hair as best as she can without putting too much strain on the comb. it's fine - toothed, the color of jade and inlaid with precious stones shaped like small flowers. aether can't remember its origin — a gift, maybe, from the last world they visited. or maybe lumine bought it as a replacement for the last one that broke under the stress of his hair, something that wouldn't easily snap.
aether groans, but lets her work. " fine, but please try not to rip my hair off. i don't want to walk around with a bald spot. " it's nice to have someone else tend to it, and his sister is well - versed in helping in him in that regard. he's used to a quick brush with his fingers, maybe an actual brush if they have the time, and then tying back in its usual braid. he's been tempted to follow lumine and snip it down until it doesn't even graze his shoulders, but the idea feels blasphemous. maybe trying out a new style would be good for once.
