#TwitteringBirdsNeverFly .. But the bird that is singing is to attract its partner, to warn of dangers, to communicate... and why fly? if you get what you are looking for... That someone you are calling with your song... why go elsewhere?
These words aren't predictions, they're just jumbled thoughts I'm sharing to discuss them. We can't predict what Sensei will bring us, only guess right or wrong, and she always surpasses our highest expectations with something surprising and spectacular.
So I'll call this:
Yearnings for the immediate future.
In chapter 66, we left off with that passionate kiss. My most immediate wish is that this time Yashiro will finally give herself to someone he loves. Now that he has no more doubts about Doumeki's feelings, nor about him own, the sadness and harshness of volume 8 are behind him, as are the fears and despair of volume 9. While each encounter brought them closer, they were filled with doubts, fears, and secrets on both sides. Yashiro couldn't express what he truly longed for from Doumeki, and Doumeki fought with all his might not to show himself so in love, for fear that Yashiro would run away from him. But now, none of that remains. Doumeki confessed absolutely everything in chapter 64, and Yashiro, who had already understood his own feelings but was unable to give them voice, opens a door that had never been touched before.
I wonder if Sensei would give us that: a scene of them making love, truly making love. Without interruptions, without trauma, without fear. Of two people who yearn for each other physically and emotionally. I would like to see it. Yashiro taking the reins this time, undressing Doumeki, desiring him, kissing every inch of his body. Yes, please, Yashiro, play with those sensitive nipples (I'm going to sound like a pervert, and I won't apologize for it). Giving him oral s3x, I miss seeing that Yashiro melting with desire, with that sensuality that could ignite even the sun. I would like to see Yashiro on top of Doumeki; after all, Doumeki has a gunshot wound, so he wouldn't be able to move very actively. A while ago, I drew Yashiro and Doumeki making love in the lotus position, which is the most romantic position in the Kama $utra. Gazing, embracing, caressing, their heart lines aligned. If Sensei would grant us something like that... Can you imagine? Oh beloved Goddess Yoneda, hear our fervent pleas from an audience that loves you. Amen.
I'd love to see Yashiro like that; I think Doumeki would cry, and we would too.
My other thoughts revolve around what will happen with Kai, Doumeki, and this whole mess.
There are many pieces on the board, not just Doumeki. The resolution of Doumeki killing Kai and going to jail seems so obvious that I doubt we'll see it, but you never know with Sensei. So, here are my crazy wishes: I'd like Nanahara or Kamiya to take on that responsibility, and here's why:
In Nanahara's case, we know he's a Yakuza with a heart straight out of a movie. He believes in loyalty, family, honor, and duty. He longs to be part of a group, to be that Yakuza from an '80s movie. It's his conviction. But, as things stand now, that's not possible. His loyalty lies with Yashiro, yet he has never stopped communicating with Misumi.
On the other hand, there's the sense of duty and guilt. He was the one who ordered Doumeki to cut off his finger; he couldn't protect Yashiro, and Yashiro lost an eye. And then there are the recent events: Nanahara didn't protect Yashiro in front of Tsunakawa's house. If it hadn't been for Doumeki, who risked everything, including his life, to protect Yashiro, then he wouldn't have anyone left to call President. That bullet was headed straight for one of our beloved protagonist's vital points, and presto, Saezuru is finished because of Nanahara (just kidding). Nanahara must feel immense guilt and be grateful to Doumeki, and we see that in chapter 66, he's desperate for Yashiro and wants to help Doumeki. I admit it bothered me to see Nanahara saving his own skin instead of being vigilant and protecting Yashiro. But he's a man who cares; he carries every mistake with responsibility and torment.
If Nanahara decides to kill Kai and go to jail, wouldn't that guarantee him a position within the group? He could be rewarded, but that would definitely be the end of his relationship with Yashiro, but then Doumeki would be left to replace him. It's a scenario I'd like to see, and without a doubt, Nanahara would become a hero to us all for protecting our beloved main couple.
But what if it were Kamiya?
He desires a promotion within the group, and he's said so in the past: he wanted to be promoted alongside Doumeki. He's also a Yakuza, but based on past events, we've discovered that his sense of loyalty also lies with Doumeki. He genuinely cares for him. If he reports to Tsunakawa that Doumeki couldn't kill him due to incompetence or anything else, he would still be excommunicated, and Kamiya would go to prison for the honor of the group and to fulfill his duty. Upon his release, he would be recommended for his long-awaited promotion. Kamiya, who has no one, would become the unexpected hero protecting those who have earned something. Doumeki would be forever grateful and could be with Yashiro without any burden on his shoulders.
It would truly be surprising, and liberating, for Yashiro and Doumeki's right-hand men to make this kind of move. I'd love to see these scenarios. It would be sad because, yes, one of them would be locked up for a while. I imagine Yashiro visiting Nanahara in prison, and that puts me in a good mood. Yashiro would feel responsible, but it's heartwarming.
And the third and craziest of all is that Inami grabs Kai, 😂🤣🤣🤣🤭 This would be truly insane, but I don't think so, I don't know. We'd have to thank someone we deeply hate, and if that happens, the author would put all their readers in a contradiction, a sadistic move on her part for all her masochistic readers. I'd have a lot of fun with this possibility.
After so many years here, Saezuru is a part of my days. My life has gone through so many changes in recent years, but they are a constant. Sometimes I get depressed thinking about when all this will end; I wish I could always have them. I hope I never lose these friends that Saezuru has given me, that we can continue making fan art for life and talking about them for many years to come. But I also hope my heart doesn't break. I want Yashiro and Doumeki to be happy, just like everyone else. They deserve it, we need it. In the end, this story belongs to Sensei, and she'll know how to conclude it, but yes, I want the rain to stop and the dawn to smile upon our beloved protagonists.
And you, what theories do you have? Do you like these scenarios?
Me gustaría verlo.
My feelings about chapter 66 of Saezuru.
Today I want to speak simply, without psychological analysis or technical jargon. I want to speak from the love I have for the work, the author, and its characters. From my jumbled feelings and thoughts.
Warning: there are spoilers, many spoilers, and paraphrased dialogue, so it's not exact.
Doumeki confessed his feelings and left. As I said in the previous post, he consciously or subconsciously relinquished control to Yashiro. Without expecting anything in return. It was honesty personified, and a farewell kissed his way to goodbye. The decision was now in Yashiro's hands, and Doumeki wouldn't pursue him anymore.
Then we had chapter 65, which really affected me. Doumeki stood firm in his feelings. Kamiya had revealed absolutely everything Doumeki had hidden about himself. Tsunakawa was heartbroken and felt betrayed, and Muraji was outraged. Doumeki failed. He didn't apologize and even declared his loyalty to Yashiro, saying he was his reason for living. As a consequence of his profound honesty, an excessive punishment was imposed, without him even having shared a drink. He lost his place to live once again. Chapter 65 left me so distraught that I tried not to talk about it for two months.
And now, chapter 66.
I was impressed, as always, by the range of expressions and physical perspectives that Sensei gives us. A truly talented artist who, through her lines, conveys a wide range of emotions.
The chapter begins with Amou and Tsunakawa. One man disappointed, the other worried. A disturbing conversation.
We move to Yashiro's office where he is visibly agitated and grumpy, with dark circles under his eyes and looking tired. He asks if they've found Kai; nothing. Nanahara confronts him and receives a violent response. Yashiro is restless, shouting, desperate; it's the first time we see him without a plan, feeling helpless. He knows that Doumeki will receive the worst punishment and is hiding behind the Yakuza's directives; he can't help Doumeki. But Nanahara doesn't remain silent and tells him about that conversation on the hospital terrace. Amou interrupts Doumeki's words and Yashiro's attitude. We then shift to a scene in a café. Amou speaks of the past; after all, he knows that wayward 19-year-old Yashiro, he's seen him in all his facets. Things about Amou are revealed, and one phrase haunts me: Amou says that Misumi sees Yashiro as a son, but Yashiro doesn't see Misumi as a father, saying, "You don't sleep with your son" While Misumi saved Yashiro, and they know I've always agreed with his methods, Yashiro's heart aches, and he's carried that burden for 20 years. This gives me a change of perspective, and while I previously supported them staying in the Yakuza, now I don't. I'd like them both to get out; I'd love for Yashiro to be free from the Yakuza, just like Doumeki.
Returning to the chapter. Amou confronts Yashiro, asking, "Did you get rid of Doumeki four years ago for his own good or for yours?" Yashiro is shocked. Amou knows him better than anyone and can't answer; they both know the answer. Without even touching his coffee, he receives a call.
We shift to the street. Yashiro is walking in the rain, lost in thought, when he's intercepted by Kamiya. Kamiya doesn't mince words and confronts Yashiro with reality, paraphrasing him to say something like, "You must be worth a lot for a man like Doumeki to risk his life to protect you." And for Yashiro, who has very low self-esteem, receiving those words from someone who doesn't know his past is truly harsh. Yashiro simply listens, and Kamiya unleashes his frustration by throwing him a motel key and a challenge, leaving Doumeki's salvation in his hands. Then he walks away.
We see the rain, the key, and then the key disappears. The next panel is one of my favorites. Yashiro holds something in his left hand and looks up at the rain-soaked, gray sky.
Now we change scenes. Doumeki is alone, gun in hand. The doorbell rings. When he opens it, Yashiro, soaked from head to toe, kisses him with a tenderness and passion the reader can feel in their own skin. Doumeki stands there, not responding, simply receiving, his eyes wide open. Yashiro pushes him aside and enters the room. Their faces part, saliva joins their lips, Yashiro's tongue is visible, and then they kiss with exquisite passion. And the chapter ends.
To say I liked the chapter is an understatement; this chapter is legendary. After so many years, Yashiro no longer does things for others, doesn't sacrifice himself for the sake of others, isn't a tool, an empty shell, a bargaining chip. He has become a human being with his own decisions, and he listens to his own heart. I loved that, without premeditation, three people came together to shake Yashiro to his core. These three already knew of the mutual feelings between them, and all three cared for Doumeki so much that they couldn't bear to see him lost. They placed the trust and responsibility for his salvation in Yashiro's hands.
Yashiro made his decision, a selfish one, leaving everyone behind—well, not everyone. Ties of cups, groups, loyalties, Misumi—he put everything before Doumeki. And what greater happiness could there be for Doumeki, who has always been the abandoned one, than to see Yashiro there, with a clear answer? Because after such a confession, seeing the man of his dreams standing at the door, frantically pressing his lips to his, is a wonderful answer.
I don't think Yashiro will do the same thing he did four years ago. I think he feels responsible for his actions and believes he's to blame for Doumeki's current state. I think he'll take responsibility and join Doumeki to resolve this whole mess. I also believe that together they are a powerful, dangerous, and unstoppable force. And I have faith, above all, I have faith in Yoneda-sensei and that they will both emerge from this in the best possible way.
Despite being a chapter to celebrate, it's also truly sad. There are wounds in the heart that don't heal easily, and I see a deeply hurt Yashiro. He's aware of all the harm he caused Doumeki, and I think his despair stems from that. He hurt the person he loved most and the person who loved him most. Yashiro doesn't feel worthy of affection, but in the end, he has such a valuable man giving his all for him. That's not easy for someone like Yashiro to accept. I can feel his pain, his regret, and his despair, and it breaks my heart.
Yoneda-sensei is incredible. She surpasses our highest expectations. I'll be eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
If you've made it this far, thank you for reading my jumbled thoughts. I didn't come here with technical jargon today; I just wanted to chat with you all. Hugs, and see you in four months!
I wrote this in 2024, after the release of Chapter 49 🥲😭😔 two years later, I never imagined what was coming... Oh God! It popped up in my memories today... I can't believe it.
To heal
Chapter 64 has arrived.
Doumeki's long-awaited confession has arrived. Now what?
These thoughts came to me today, at 2:30 AM on my birthday, so don't take it too seriously, or maybe you should. I don't know, it's long and has a lot going on. Warning ⚠️ contains content that may be disturbing to some readers. It also contains many spoilers; I discussed all the volumes. Yashiro-Doumeki relationship
Yashiro's dissociation as the main antagonist of Saezuru.
This has been on my mind since yesterday.
Yashiro, an omniscient masochist who uses pain as armor. By inviting a b use, he nullifies the abuser's power over him, completely surrendering control. Yashiro used degradation, humiliation, physical abuse, and extreme s3x to detach himself from his emotions. By seeing himself as a broken object and using others for his own personal satisfaction, he invalidated any possibility of being hurt; if nothing matters to him and everything is pain, no one has power over him.
Yashiro uses s3)( to dissociate through specific mechanisms.
It's not an act of pleasure, but a strategy of mental compartmentalization. And he's a man who needs to control the situation, he needs the power of decision, even though this is sometimes an illusion.
We already know that by seeing his body as an object, Yashiro separates his conscious self from his physical body and turns it into currency, into a tool. He reinforces the idea that this is happening to his body, not to him. By lacking emotional connections, he silences the psychological pain of all his past traumas, which acts as a massive sensory distraction.
If you don't know: when faced with a truly strong stimulus, the brain is forced to focus solely on the physical response and survival of the moment, and this causes Yashiro to shut down any sensation that might transport him or make him confront his past traumas. It's a pain he chooses; it's real, and he has power over it (I've said all this several times).
But then, Doumeki arrives: The powerless observer. Doumeki doesn't arrive as the conventional romantic interest in shojo stories; no, he catches Yashiro's attention because he sees something in him that he doesn't want to acknowledge but that intrigues him.
Doumeki is a paradox; his function is to protect him, yet he cannot possess him (physically and symbolically), and therefore, “according”to Yashiro, cannot harm him. However, Yashiro's defense mechanism is activated by a non-lustful gaze. He is purity itself. Yashiro is accustomed to being looked at with lust, disgust, or pity. Then Doumeki arrives, stops the aggressive act of r4p3, and fearlessly inquires about his well-being. Yet Yashiro notices that Doumeki doesn't see him like everyone else; instead, he begins to perceive an absolute devotion without demands, despite all the horrific things he has begun to show him (more violent s3*x, the meeting in Kirishima's office). Adding to this is his physical condition: being impotent at the start, Doumeki doesn't "want anything" from Yashiro in the transactional sense to which the latter is accustomed.
Doumeki becomes a mirror reflecting back to Yashiro an image of himself he doesn't want to see: that of a man who deserves care, protection, longing, love, companionship, and devotion. Doumeki doesn't use him, and despite knowing this, he keeps him by his side because he feels they both share a fundamental flaw stemming from their past traumas.
But Doumeki observes everything from the shadows, respecting Yashiro's personal space. He doesn't intervene in his defense, despite possessing the physical strength to do so, because he has put up sufficient barriers due to the Yakuza hierarchy. He is his Kashira, and that is sacred. However, this becomes torture for Doumeki. He can't claim Yashiro as his own, nor can he stop the cycle of abuse that Yashiro refuses to acknowledge and that is destroying him. So he observes this chaos with pain, silence, and frustration, accumulating immense emotional pressure (also because he didn't want to be like his father and thought that perhaps if he defended Yashiro and went against his will, he was forcing him). But, unable to release all of this, he transforms it into absolute loyalty, obsessive devotion, and the total surrender of his body and mind.
But this ends when love arrives. Doumeki is no longer an observer; he is a guardian. Accepting the arrangement with Yashiro brings greed, and his physical impotence begins to disappear as their emotional connection strengthens since their shared experience between life and death in Volume II. This awakening is not merely a biological event; it is the moment he decides that his desire for Yashiro is stronger than hierarchy, rules, and even his trauma.
We already know what happened next: they separate. Why? Our true villain: Yashiro's mind.
Making love in Volume 5 is, the moment of greatest existential crisis for Yashiro. For a man who has built his identity on being an "empty vessel" and an object of consumption, the irruption of Doumeki's tenderness acts like acid, dissolving his defenses and reviving his traumas. That act, the first time they “sleep together”, collapses the contract of humiliation and degradation. Yashiro knows how to handle s3)( with viol3nce and detachment, but this new experience, those touches with reverence and tenderness, leaves Yashiro unsure of what role to play. Doumeki doesn't use him, he doesn't hurt him, nor does he stop. So, who is Yashiro in that moment? There is no pain to distract him; he must focus on pleasure, and Doumeki pampers him to the extreme with kisses and tender words, making him feel human. It forces him to feel Doumeki's presence, and this causes him to lose control. For Yashiro, this tenderness is aggressive. It's an invasion of his sanctuary of emotional isolation that leads him to his greatest fear: recognizing himself as a victim.
When Doumeki tells him he's "beautiful" or treats him with care, he's invalidating the years of abuse that Yashiro has internalized as his only truth. Yashiro's confusion stems from cognitive dissonance: his mind says "I'm trash," but Doumeki's body and attitude tell him "you're sacred, baby" Furthermore, Yashiro suffers from body dysmorphic disorder, which doesn't help at all.
His fear of normalcy, of recognizing himself as a victim, of abandoning the structure he managed to build, makes him run away. And this reaches its peak when his other fear becomes a reality: losing Doumeki. What will I do if I lose you? At that moment, he decides the best course of action is to distance himself from him without listening to him or respecting his opinions, sacrificing his own feelings. He leaves, thinking that in this way he can recover his composure and, of course, free Doumeki from the chains of his personal hell. He can live without Doumeki in a world where Doumeki lives—or so Yashiro believed.
But this doesn't happen. I wanted to review all of this to understand the events and actions of chapters 60 through 64.
Why now?
Over these four years, Doumeki came to understand Yashiro. He understood and forgave him. His love and devotion are so great that his only goal was to return to his side as an equal. He understood that kindness is an attack to Yashiro, permanence is a threat, and painless s3x is an identity crisis. Of course, Doumeki is human, and the variables of jealousy and possessiveness come into play. However, he doesn't physically attack Yashiro, he doesn't give in to hurting him, and he creates a sense of security for him (Izumi-san's lie and the mask of emotional detachment). The "Powerless Observer" stage was the period of data collection, the understanding not only of Yashiro but of his own heart. Doumeki wasn't simply standing there; he was deciphering the security code of Yashiro's safe. His apparent passivity was what allowed him to see what no one had ever wanted to see: Yashiro didn't want to be used, he wanted to be seen, acknowledged.
And now the powerless one is Yashiro; it's the clearest sign that his body no longer responds to the old dissociative stimuli. He no longer belongs to himself. His mind has begun to register the damage, the longing; he dreams of Doumeki, he doesn't eat well, he smokes excessively. He encounters Doumeki, and his body begins to function again. Without understanding why, he exposes himself to Inami once more, but instead of achieving a response, he registers the pain and recognizes himself as a victim, as something that truly matters to him.
Yashiro's "cure" for impotence is noteworthy. He encounters Doumeki in an intimate moment, and despite his rudeness and coldness, when Doumeki touches him gently, his central nervous system, which has him imprinted as the only space of physical safety, receives the signal that the danger has ceased. During the years of impotence, Yashiro's body was in a state of "freezing" (a very common response to everything that happened in volumes III, IV, and V). The erectile response is the physical manifestation that, for an instant, the defense mechanism shuts down because it recognizes the protector.
And all the walls begin to fall, Yashiro and Doumeki meet more and more, to the point that Yashiro begins to lose that dissociation, his weapon that allows him to survive in the hostile environment where he lives. He longs for the old Doumeki who treated him tenderly, he recognizes the love in him, the pain of having lost him, and their encounters become more intimate, romantic, "vanilla."
Then comes chapter 60.
Sensual, romantic, vanilla sex, interrupted by a phone call that Doumeki prevents him from answering. This is the epitome of Yashiro's defensive war of attrition and Doumeki's loyal devotion. Yashiro sees Tsunakawa without telling Doumeki, and when Doumeki confronts him, Yashiro uses cruelty as a control mechanism to humiliate him, reminding him that he is nothing more than s3x and has no other obligation to him. He does this because he feels he has crossed a dangerous line of vulnerability; He feels at a disadvantage because Doumeki doesn't belong to him. He notices that Doumeki is beginning to occupy too much space in his life, mind, and heart, and by reminding himself that he is only s3)(, he rebuilds his emotional walls. If he can break Doumeki's heart, then he regains power.
For our beloved Doumeki, this is devastating. It's as if all his sacrifice and effort were for nothing. He's giving his all, yet he can't reach Yashiro's heart.
But the pain doesn't weaken Doumeki; it radicalizes him.
He confronts and acts. The gunshot comes, placing them once again in a life-or-death situation, just like in Volume VI. Yashiro again watches in horror as Doumeki is wounded "because of him," especially considering he betrayed the Yakuza code by protecting someone who wasn't his boss. He had just treated Doumeki like garbage, and Doumeki gives him a silent reply: "You can say it's just s3)(, but my life still belongs to yours, whether you like it or not."
And then comes the complete break. Yashiro protects Doumeki, takes him away, and faces what he never wanted to face. Doumeki hasn't changed; he's still the same young man who looked at him with love and devotion, who wanted to be by his side and give him his life. And as the Yakuza world pressures them to distance themselves, Yashiro does something unexpected: he goes to see Doumeki under the pretext of obtaining information about Kai, but knowing Doumeki's delicate state of health.
Actions that change everything.
Yashiro goes to Doumeki's house. This was such a brutally honest act. He learns that Doumeki was rejected by Kageyama and that he's not well. Under the guise of getting this information, he goes to confront reality. Doumeki is no longer the immovable object he once was; he can bleed, he can die, and he can die protecting Yashiro, thus reliving his greatest fear. However, instead of running away, he faces it. I love how everything crumbles when he sees Izumi, as if the lover had been discovered by the jealous wife, and here Izumi serves as a bridge between them.
Doumeki begs him not to leave, and Yashiro obeys. The masks fall from both of them. Doumeki is at his most vulnerable, and Yashiro doesn't take advantage of this; he comforts him and takes care of him.
Doumeki's biggest surprise is seeing Yashiro sitting on the floor, asleep.
Regardless of the words and the wounds, Doumeki knows that Yashiro loves him, and here he takes the initiative.
Perhaps because he no longer wants to play this hunting game? Or perhaps he's simply tired of wearing the mask, or maybe simply because one of them could have died at that moment.
The moment of brutal honesty arrives: he eliminates ambiguity, lays all his cards on the table, and without any lies, tells Yashiro the truth. From the moment they separated, Doumeki cannot love anyone else (I knew that amount of s3m3n in chapter 51/52 was too much. Doumeki had a four-year dry spell), cannot think of anyone else. Everything he did was for and to be by his side again. He wanted to return, not as a subordinate, but as an equal, willing to plunge into Yashiro's personal hell for this (I told them this for years).
Yashiro listens, doesn't interrupt, but everything shatters when the eye wound is mentioned. It transports Yashiro back to his most vulnerable moments, and he only wants to know: Why now? This isn't just curiosity; it's a demand stemming from the breach of an implicit contract. He allowed Doumeki to be near as long as the dynamics of power and detachment were maintained; tenderness compels him to be present, without excuses, but Doumeki interrupts with a kiss. This is Yashiro's most subversive act. Accepting that kiss, a gesture of emotional intimacy rather than s3)(ual discharge, marks the end of his resistance, tears down the walls. It's the moment he stops seeing himself as a broken object and allows himself to be loved. Doumeki no longer has anything to hide, and he didn't tell Yashiro all this as coercion, but rather as the end of the charade, the siege.
Freedom of choice
Since they reunited, Doumeki has been "besieging" Yashiro: pursuing him, harassing him, forcing him to confront his presence. That, although born of love, was a form of pressure, necessary and one I always defended because Yashiro needed someone to set boundaries.
By telling him the whole truth, kissing him with that tenderness that ends Doumeki's entire charade (white shirt, no gloves), and going to face his punishment without waiting for Yashiro's response, Doumeki takes his foot off the gas. He's telling him: "You don't have to run from me anymore, because I'm not chasing you anymore. Here's the whole truth; do with it what you want."
He gives Yashiro back the right to decide without feeling cornered.
Perhaps if Doumeki had stayed waiting for a response, Yashiro probably would have tried to regain control by verbally attacking him to create distance. Or maybe not, maybe he didn't want to take the risk
But no, Doumeki leaves, leaving Yashiro in a complete power vacuum. Yashiro once again possesses the power and control he craves (remember, he always says that information grants him dominion), but he has no one to command, no one to channel that power into. This will force Yashiro to stop reacting to Doumeki and begin acting on his own.
Doumeki has shattered the hierarchy. And he positions himself as a man who chooses to love another, despite all the external factors that separate them and compel them to do terrible things.
The beautiful, resigned smile and the lack of response to Yashiro's question symbolize that Doumeki is no longer a slave to his desires or Yashiro's commands; he is the master of his own destiny. Because Doumeki is an equal, he restores Yashiro's dignity by treating him as an equal, not as a broken boss, an object of desire, or a vulnerable and fragile man. He is the love of his life, and Doumeki makes this clear by returning his power to him. Doumeki gave Yashiro enough "rope" to cross the bridge himself.
Or, to use another metaphor, Doumeki gives Yashiro the key to his own emotional cage. Now, Yashiro's power is not to destroy others or himself, but the power to choose, for the first time, happiness, action, and forgiveness. Doumeki wins by losing and relinquishes control to Yashiro, and we know that all Yashiro wants is to be by the side of the one who has just given him back that power.
The bird doesn't need to fly away and leave the forest; it simply needs a safe branch from which to sing.
Note: Thank you for reading this far. I hope everything is clear. I wrote it in Spanish and then used a translator (sorry, it's the middle of the night and my brain was in Spanish-English mode). Although sometimes the translator uses words I don't usually use, and I had to correct everything, of course. This took me three hours. I also hope there aren't any repeated parts since I wrote it in one place and pasted it here. I hope you understand at least the general idea.
Doumeki Chikara
Wounds that won't stop bleeding and others that heal. The betrayal of a family.
Doumeki is one of the most complex characters we have in manga and anime. Always, when talking about Ssezuru we focus a lot on Yashiro San, he is not only the protagonist but he managed to make us all fall in love. But let's talk about Doumeki, a man who, due to his physique, already at the age of eight, stopped receiving the affection of his parents, with very beautiful and strong moral values and a discipline and determination that few have. Imagine being a child wanting to be hugged and no one does? that was Doumeki. A sister arrives, who learned to love from her but grew away from her because Aoi's attitude was suspicious and for him uncomfortable. Doumeki is a man who sees everything but with his sister's situation he wanted to be blind.
The trauma
The boy who was raped and didn't realize it.
Doumeki who as a young man beginning his adolescence was raped by a school employee, his physique was perhaps that of a man but his mind was not and he develops a paralysis before someone's sexual advance (for example, in the first encounter with Yashiro San, his attitude of becoming completely still when Yashiro attacks him may be a product of his trauma, just like with the teacher, he did not push him away at the time of inappropriate contact).
The betrayal of a father.
Her sister was not sexually assaulted by a stranger or a teacher, it was his biological father who assaulted her. A father who perhaps even physically resembled the two. Perhaps Doumeki did see the signs of abuse but decided to ignore them and reacted impulsively like anyone else, he protected his sister from him. I come, but...
The betrayal of a sister and the forgetfulness of a mother in silence.
Doumeki decided to keep quiet, asked them not to say anything and assumed all the blame to protect her family from public ridicule, in Japan and the world the image is very important but, as a mother and as a sister, you are going to allow your 21-year-old son, a magnificent student , skilled, intelligent and with a bright future ahead, rot in jail for "the public image"? that's what happened... his sister who could have gone to the police, his mother who could have refused her son's decision and protected him... both were silent. Doumeki lost everything he had built and a silent fear grew in him.
The fear of being a rapist...
The phrase "you can see that they are mother and son", "like father like son", Doumeki took it very seriously and turned off all sexual desire thinking that he could become like his father, dead in life, decided to keep everything.
The arrival of his light...
upon leaving prison, I always thought that Doumeki would no longer see women in the same way and that is one of the reasons for looking at Yashiro, he could no longer see women in a sexual way, because in all those faces he would see Aoi, her sister, being raped and thus he falls in love with a complicated, twisted, dysfunctional man but who gives him a home, security and sees in him something that no one else had seen: tenderness, innocence, purity . Yashiro treats Doumeki tenderly, lovingly and with a childish attitude, unable to resist he begins to desire him and feels guilty about it, thinking that every time he touches him, he rapes him. Yashiro intervenes and tells him that no, you are not equal to your father, you are pure. A phrase that would change his life. But... Yashiro immerses himself in a crusade to return Doumeki to a home since he does not want him to enter the dark and rotten world of the yakuza, he tries to protect him without understanding or knowing all Doumeki's suffering. . Doumeki has no one, he does not want to return to his family because deep down he knows that he was abandoned by all family and friends, he does not want to return to the police who, knowing the events of the case, left him to rot in jail instead of starting an investigation, his future He sees him next to only one person, his love, Yashiro San.
Yashiro leaves Doumeki.
There are no sadder chapters than the entire sequence of events from when Yashiro leaves him behind in the apartment until he wakes up in the hospital. Doumeki's sense of loss and emptiness makes him make a decision: he will not move away, he will remain in the same world as the person he loves... distant and patient but in pain, bleeding relentlessly from a wound that he does not heal...
The reunion and a love that does not end.
Again Doumeki meets Yashiro who apparently has forgotten him, has not changed at all and continues with his bad habits but he continues with his advances. However, in the process he is being hurt, hoping that Yashiro expresses his feelings and at the end of all this nightmare that his life has been, they choose him, but not just anyone, but Yashiro, the man who gave him love and life...
He will never forget, neither the good, nor the bad, nor that they will leave him behind. So he closes his thoughts, his heart and we know nothing but his actions that seem cold and desperate. Doumeki is so young, he is only 29 years old and has been through so many terrible events, abuse and abandonment, his heart has been destroyed by all the beings he loved, respected, admired and wanted. There is only one way left for him, a path that does not stop hurting him, a path that is not yet clear, he must be strong to save what he loves most in this world but he also needs security, a place to return to, a confirmation that he is needed and needed.
I have faith that Doumeki will save Yashiro San, but also that Yashiro San will save Doumeki.

Again thinking of Saezuru.
I think of Y-San, a man who has lived through all kinds of suffering and built a world to protect himself convincing his mind and heart not to fall into total darkness, that this world was to his liking; He met Doumeki, a man who insisted on wanting to take him out by force, but with love, from there, since that world was self-destructive. I think of Doumeki's actions and I remember when on the roof of the hospital, he linked each of the events and sentences he had in intimacy with Yashiro San, I have always thought that Yashiro's mind is like a maze with many paths and it was At that moment he understood that he couldn't take him out of his world, because when he tried to do it, Yashiro clung to him more, he was afraid of completely abandoning himself and losing what little he had and it's totally understandable, and the result? he rejected that love, he rejected Doumeki, though he longed for it. So Doumeki, I think, decided to enter his world, not take it out. Entering with everything, not only the Yakuza but Yashiro San's way of living and feeling, because that would be the only way to truly protect him, to get him out of the darkness, to understand him.
Although there are people who have been even offended by Doumeki's attitude, to understand these actions they must understand Yashiro San's psychology and his pain. Doumeki wants to save Yashiro but for good reason he already tried and it didn't work, now he is just trying other methods, Yashiro San's method. Is it hard to see? Sure, but I trust that method and see the results. DOUMEKI will no longer let Yashiro get hurt, he will no longer accept everything, and it will create a sense of control in Yashiro, he will stop him but it will be Yashiro who has to vocalize his wishes. If it's with Yashiro San's method, Doumeki I'll lend you my tie so you can tie it tighter!
I've always thought that Yashiro needs someone to stop him and that will be Doumeki.
To put out a fire, firefighters must first learn how to start it!
Following Saezuru's thoughts...
I believe in Doumeki!

⚡ ⚠️ It worked! Doumeki's method worked! Yashiro San was able to express in words what he felt and what he wanted!! Did you see? Doumeki was doing the right thing no matter how painful it was!

I wrote this a long time ago and I stand by it: an explanation of Doumeki's attitude towards Yashiro San. Because that coldness but at the same time that warmth that embraces the heart of Yashiro San.
I always knew it!!!! It was simply this... !!! Doumeki, you are THE MAN! ♥️🏆🙌🏼
There's no internal monologue from Doumeki!!! He tells everything to Yashiro.
Chapter 64
There is no internal monologue from Doumeki!!! He tells everything to Yashiro.
I've been telling you this for years, Doumeki's only goal was to be in the world where Yashiro lived, and everything he did was for love... I remember all the people who doubted him, now it's time to swallow your words and don't spill a single drop.
Sensei is amazing!
Doumeki confesses everything. Absolutely everything. His feelings are revealed, along with details of his past and the knowledge of Yashiro's injury. Sometimes I feel like the end is near... I wonder who will save Doumeki and how Yashiro will react. Only Yashiro can save him from imminent punishment, or will Doumeki accept whatever is imposed upon him?
