EXCITING NEWS!

I’m moving back to Vancouver this January!  I got a new job at the Ronald McDonald House Charities BC and Yukon.

They’re flying me out and housing me for training for a few weeks in January and then I come back to Toronto to go skiing at Mont Tremblant and to drive my car on an epic roadtrip from Toronto to Vancouver, stopping in Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Washington!  I can’t believe how quickly my life has changed and how pumped I am for my new job and to live in Vancouver again! YAYY!

Better late than never.  Thanksgiving with my family at our cottage.  The #WattyCotty, as we have patented it (our last name is Watson), has quickly become my oasis in the woods.  Hopefully we’ll get some ATVs or snowmobiles so we can visit in the winter once the water has frozen over (it’s on an island).

I feel very fortunate, and proud of my parents for working so hard to achieve their dream.

It's on days like these, when the tail end of Hurricane Patricia hits, that I'm thankful I work from home.

Where in the heck have I been for nearly 8 months?

Mostly, having fun and training/completing a half ironman.  

I put together a little video of the journey.

What else?

My family bought a cottage and we love it.

I also had fun camping with friends.

and I took videos of that.

I also went to the Northwest Territories.  

I only took pictures of that. 

and saw bison and bears and heard wolves howling and saw the northern lights and ran a youth photography program.

I also went to the PNW and visited friends and went hiking. 

This post is long.  But a lot of life happens in 8 months.

I hope all you people are living happy, amazing, fun filled, goal crushing, loving lives.

Full On Triathlon

This month has been triathlon discounts galore.  I've spent a ridiculous amount of moula on everything tri related.  BUT because its winter there were great earlybird discounts for the races, coupon codes on wetsuits, and deals on a spring 4 day training camp. Needless to say my triathlon season is paid for - 4 months early :)

So pumped though! Especially for the training camp on May 24 weekend!

I should've posted this a while ago, but here is my apartment :) It's 900sqf with 150sqf balcony. 2 bed 2 bath. I didn't show my roommates room but it's surrounded by floor to ceiling windows and is unreal. We love it! The highlight is definitely the 9 foot couch in the middle :)

HI Hi Hi Hiiii!

I know I haven't been posting that much.  I am 250% busier in "The Big City" (air quotes, sarcastic voice).  Along with the busy sched I'm also 250% happier. I mean I was really happy before but now I'm super duper happy.  

Hmmm main updates:

1.  Love the new condo and living with friends again!  It's the perfect space, the biggest balcony (can't use that until summer :( ) and the most unreal outdoor pool that apparently is a huge partay in the summer.  We've also been meeting a bunch of people in our building.  It's like dorm life for young professionals...but a lot better, cleaner and less hectic.

2. Dates went well! Went on a few 2nd and 3rd dates.  By the third I realized I wasn't into him.  Still a good experience because hey going on dates are fun.  The other guy and me are still talking (he travels a lot for work so scheduling things are tricky).  Overall just embracing being young and having fun!

3.  Workouts hmmm. I've just been biking and running everyday. Not swimming enough! UGH! The motivation to get into a cold pool in the winter is almost impossible.  But not really any workouts so share just swim, bike, and runnin'. Yay triathlon.  Still nervous about the Half Ironman this summer!

4.  Other:  Went to church.  Really liked it and I think I'll keep going.  The pastor? preacher? reverend? bishop? Lol still learning but he was hilarious so it was fun.  Volunteering at a homeless shelter. Love that.  Joined a triathlon club. I train with them Tuesdays and Saturdays. Love that.  Going on a ski trip to a chalet with 20 friends this weekend. Pumped for that.  Work trip to Sault Ste. Marie next week...not super pumped for that.

Overall life is good.  I've still been trying to keep up with all of you!  How are all of you?!  I hope everyone is happy, healthy, and having fun!

I have been so busy recently. Packing up and moving out of my parents house in the suburbs to a lovely new condo with my friend in the city, was a big part of that. I still can’t believe I’m on my own!

Things happening so far:

1. I went on 2 dates this past week. Both guys we’re great. First dates can be extremely awkward but neither of these were. Who knows if anything will pan out but either way both were positive experiences!

2. Joined my city’s triathlon club and signed up for coached indoor cycling class! Wooo. Ready to get intense with this training business!

3. Starting to volunteer once a week at a homeless shelter in my city. Homelessness is a issue I find very important so I’m hoping to do my little part until I think of how to make a larger impact.  

4. I love my new apartment! I’ll post more pictures once I’m back from out of town for work! Because our place is seriously awesome and I love it! Currently in freezing Winnipeg, MB for work. Ahhh.

I'm really wanting to create a sense of community in my new city.  I've really got to get involved in city activities and aware of city issues.

Moved into my condo today!

I've been so mia on tumblr. Ahhh.  Finally I've moved in! Yayyyy!

New city, new places, new year.  Excited to see all of the adventures, opportunities, and fun this year has to offer.

You know the feeling when you read or watch something really motivating?  And you do it right before bed?

Recommendation to all: do not watch 'Desert Runners' before bed.

Now all I want to do it train for the '4 Desert Grand Slam'.  Geeez.  I guess I'll have to add this to my under 30 years old bucket list.  (Or at least complete one 250KM self-supported multi-stages ultra race).

Why do I do this to myself...I suck at endurance.

I go from two extremes

Last night I had a hardcore bike on the trainer followed by an ab workout.  Next thing I know, I'm on the couch watching masterchef with a bag of cheetos.  It's all about the balance, right?
