To be honest, I blame the sudden rise in these attacks on the fact that so many YouTubers have decided to make videos about our community recently. They say that all we do is ‘romanticise perps and make edits of them’ and while that is true, we also look at the perps as people, not just a villain. We actually look into these tragedies; we aren’t just making edits of perps we know nothing about (or atleast the majority of us). However, attention starved individuals hear the words ‘romanticised and edits’ and they think it’s the only way they’ll get famous online and have people think they’re hot and sooo cool.

We don’t need attention. We don’t need hundreds of videos made about us to ‘avoid this side of the internet’. Isn’t it common knowledge that people are going to look into something more when you tell them not to look into it at all?
