My placement started at plantology.

My first day i made these decorations for a bar in sheffield called the anchorage and I was totally in love with my placement already.

My work taking place in my studio space at Sheffield Hallam University

Carnations encased in plaster thrown at my studio wall to brake and realise them from within the plaster.

Professional Art Practice (PAP) 3

I have decided this year that i will not be taking up writing a dissertation document for PAP 3. Through august 2015 I chatted to Plantology Florist in Sheffield about doing a replacement with them and they was so helpful and said I could.

My placement will take over a month or two finishing roughly just before christmas 2015.

I will also have to keep a journal of what I’m gaining from the placement and what I’m learning and research too.

I also will have to think up of a question so i gather evidence on my placement and write a report.

Report needs to be roughly 2500 words max.

Crit

My crit session for my final year..

Showing in my own studio space a plinth with a box placed on top with the opening facing the wall where a mirror is placed. In the box is flowers which you can only view via looking at the mirror.

The crit went super well actually with lots of good fed back saying how my piece of work is a very interesting concept and i could do a lot of play with it it if i wanted.

Took a trip to Nottingham Contemporary on Friday 22 May 2015.

Glenn Ligon Encounters and Collisions Exhibition.

Some works were very strong emotional pieces to do with clashes between African American people and how they was treated with police and other parts of the white community, theses pieces where in the first room right when you entered the gallery. The exhibition showcases artworks and also documentation of historical events.

Personal Statement

Currently changing my studio practice from textiles to working with botanical. This is very new to me but I have been wanting to change to botanical subject for quite a long time. My last practice (stitch work) was just not working out anymore and it was very much angering me. I just knew I at to change and get the courage to do what I had been wanting for so long. I am very interested in botanical living nature. I have always been surrounded by plants and flowers and everything else, I have always appreciated it all.

My main aim for my work at the moment is research from how botanical pieces have been used in art. I also need to find my feet in this very board subject and not loose what I’m wanting to achieve. I need to figure out which part I am more interested in this could be the busy side, botany (science Side), I am also interested in using botanical sources to challenge very raw subjects within the news such as immigration. I want my work to become very contemporary and differ from small to very large pieces, depending on the location I am working in.

My new practice is a very deep with research but I am not intimidated by this at all, I welcome it. My new art practice is actually making me feel excited for future work.

I am ready to go, and so over 2015 summer, I am going to research like mad and also sort a placement out or research for dissertation.
