It was the smell that caught his attention first, and in a manner that wasn’t unlike him, he followed his nose to wherever the tantalizing aroma lead him. From the smell of it there seemed to be an array of ingredients being cooked, however Luffy was most concerned about the multiple ( multiple! ) varieties of meat that he could make out.

His stomach was growling already.

It wasn’t long before he navigated his way out from the forest into a small clearing, and he immediately spotted the pot of food that guided him here. 

“That smells so good!! Can I have some?!!” And he didn’t recognize the person who was tending to the pot, ( not that he actually looked long enough when his eyes were so focused on the food ) but he was hungry, and wasn’t thinking about manners ( but then again, when did he ever ).

It had, very quickly come to midday and the majority of the heart pirates had decided it was too hot to not go for a swim in the cool looking lake nearby; their sordid captain tagging along if only to ‘keep watch of the idiots’. 

A few had remained to tend to the supplies and the equipment - the cook deciding to focus on a lunch that everyone could come back to and enjoy. It would be a summer dish, plentiful nutrition in the form of the local vegetation - followed with fresh fish, considering the Captain had a better appetite for it than meat. However, the messy-haired youth had decided to grill some meat anyway, for the few of the crew who loved it; plus a very unfortunate boar had happened upon the crew’s camp.

                               “That smells so good!! Can I have some?!!”

The voice had pulled Vic out of her concentration, her flock of curls creating an ocean of movement as she spun her head to meet the stranger who had approached without notice. Alarm slowly sunk into recognition and eventually into relief; it was only Monkey D. Luffy - a trusted ally and friend of her Captain and therefore the crew. 

A wide grin crossed her features as she beamed a welcome to him;

“O-of course Mugiwara!... u-uh but you’ll have to wait until everyone comes back - ..... it’s a custom to have everyone here to eat together”

The cook could imagine the disappointment to come, to expect that he would feel cheated in having to wait - though it wasn’t really up to him anyway. Leaning over a little to meet his eyeline, she gently greeted him again.

“H-hey Mugiwara, what brings you here - a-and where is your crew?”

It’s like I’m a record player, playing the soundtrack of my life; like a movie soundtrack, it changes for different parts and atmospheres. It gets exciting, action packed, scary and even somewhere there may have been a moment of hope and happiness… Until it gets to the sad track. Because… somewhere along…. …the ‘record player’ broke and it wouldn’t stop playing the sad track.

*Sweeps in to deliver a kiss because International Kissing Day and the beautiful betta deserves a kiss*

Usually, the heart cook would be very quick in retaliating to another person’s affections - as she’s never been very good at accepting them; however, for two reasons Vic had held every habitual muscle in her body back and they were:

1. It seemed like International Kissing Day had coincided with the celebratory holiday of her people - a day where you would greet people with gifts, hugs and kisses.

and 2. That this was Trafalgar D. Law. The man she had laid her loyalties out for; there was no way that she would harm him unless it was over something to do with his health. 

Bashfully and shyly, the heart pirate’s cook tugged down the captain’s hat so it covered his eyes and delivered a swift smooch to his cheek. A gesture of affinity and gratitude... but before he could have a moment to register what had transpired, Vic had turned on her heel and dashed off into the depth of the submarine.

Hey Joy- 

            I really wanted to pay you all the attention in the world today; but it’s been hard. I love you more than anything and yanno, your namesake is so appropriate. 

Who would have thought? That Ama and Aba were bringing home a literal joy into my obsolete life? I have to apologize for my miserable personality - I know it’s rough dealing with me everyday! But-! You are the most precious gift that I had recieved (And it’s not even my birthday).

I wanted to shower you with so much more than a few measly words and a quick drawing- I really wanted to take you somewhere and get you stuff that I know would light up your eyes. Because I’m not sure if you’re aware - but it’s one of my favorite things. We debated about me and marriage recently - I mentioned how anxious it makes me. There’s a whole myriad of reasons why it makes me fear it so badly and the main thing will always be that I won’t be able to protect you no more; I wouldn’t be able to watch you grow. Vic regrets it. I’m sure I would too.

I love you. Greatly. If you weren’t here, I’d not have lasted so long.

In time. I'll do it. It's one of my most precious person's birthdays. A day that marked my life as an older sibling for the first time 17 years ago. Right now, I'm sitting in the very room I stood in 17 years ago. Not far from the spot at the window where I wished so deeply that my mother would bring home a little sister. It was a special night. Because for once. My wish was granted. I'll get onto writing all the things for you the moment I have a breath of air.

「EXPERIENCE」

▐ HOW LONG ( YEARS/MONTHS): I have been roleplaying for 10 years ▐ PLATFORMS USED: Gmail, msn , online forum, tumblr, skype,  ▐ BEST EXPERIENCE: In roleplaying? That’s a hard one… … It was probably the first time @orewahida​ replied to my thread on flamingmarco. I used to be a very prevalent Marco years ago on Tumblr in a roleplaying group but for various reasons, the group broke up and I had to put Marco to rest. My problem was that I always felt so strongly linked to him; you see – I’m a really melancholy kid (So much so that my neutral expression looks sad because I have droopy eyes, according to my brother, he used to wonder why I was always sad as a baby), so I really linked up with the melancholy soul of post-war Maruun. Eventually, Joy persuaded me to take him up again and so I did; I really enjoyed being him again but… I’d lost my confidence and felt too shy to really bother anyone. I tried following a lot of blogs but I didn’t have much luck with finding someone to write with. Eventually one day I wrote Birthday Preparations. It was partially a drabble and also an open for anyone to reply to – I went to have breakfast and when I had returned I had a message from an Ace asking if they could reply to that post. Excited that someone would actually want to reply to me and an Ace at that; I replied and told them to go ahead. 

I didn’t expect the quality of reply that I got that day. Just as Ace had come out of nowhere and attempted to comfort Marco in that thread, orewahida had done the same to a lonely flamingmarco. It turned out I had met a kindred spirit and one of the most inspiring people in my life. He also introduced me to @surgeonofheart which is another story altogether; thank you for finding me back then ya little shit. 

For once, I guess I felt incredibly lucky to have met such great people - so yeah, best experience.

"VIC!" He had already sprung, even before screeching the fluffy-headed chef's name, attempting to cling to her face like some sort of parasitical carnivorous alien creature. "YA GOTTA..." He sounded weak, and almost desperate. "YA... GOTTA... FEED ME.........." And he began to sink downward as though melting.

In the beginning, the chef was shaken with a severe bought of ferocious confusion; half of her being screamed at her to go for broke and force a knuckle-sandwich into her ally’s face- the other preferred to stay frozen in place and allow the shorter child to collapse into her. 

It seemed the latter won out; and rightfully so when the rubber child fell to the floor exclaiming his hunger. Vic stared for a short time, mumbling to herself before shrugging and tugging the flap of her small backpack open. There were only a few lunchboxes and they had been prepared with her own crew and captain in mind; but as the Mugiwara and Heart pirates were allies... it would be uncouth to deny him some food. 

Squatting down, the heart pirate smiled, a gentle expression - full of kindness and hope and it rained down on the boy with the strawhat in the likes of a heavy grip, digits tugging his mouth apart as to force the contents of her bento into his mouth. Sure, she could have just passed it to him and he would have so easily helped himself... but it was somewhat for revenge.... 

“Better a-appreciate it s-strawhat... It was my share”

"Ayy, fish girl. Haven't seen you since your birthday."

Dusky eyes moved swiftly, to meet the pale countenance to which the small greeting belonged. Surprise was written on Vic’s scarred expression, having not expected for someone to have noticed she had spent some time away. 

 Cheeks laced a little with darkness upon the unexpected sweetness; whether or not the ice-witch had intended it or not, the action had been appreciated. The fish-child let her wild curls drop as her neck craned her head downward, as if to hide the redness in her face. 

“I-I got a little... lost for a while”, she laughed as she said this before nodding gently; “s-sometimes... deep water is really d-dark and you can’t find your bearings”. Stumbling on her words, Vic attempted to thank the wraith in her meddling and instead, the pirate offered a parcel of kinship; a small box of biscuits of all kinds - she knew that food of the living may have been useless to the likes of those who had passed morality... but another wandering spirit seemed to enjoy her food plenty, so it couldn’t hurt...
