A Guide to Staying Away from Toxic Assholes in the Cyberpunk Fandom
Pattern Matching
Always look at who is listed in preview pics and pay attention to who else's pics they're in to figure out the circles of influence.
Obviously, not everyone knows about everyone else's bullshit and so just because you do see a name there, doesn't mean that person is also a bad person. It just means, at best, they're unaware of this random person they have a passing knowledge of as a modder being a terrible human being. The middle ground is they know and they just don't care because that person has never done anything to them which is fine. At worst, they know and they're an enabler.

Pinkydude/Pinkyjulien: Old news I'm not gonna rehash, you can search my blog for his name or "pd" or just "pinky". Have fun! Their circles run wide and often overlap but it's a really safe bet to just keep your distance from everyone that shows up in their preview pics. Not that that's a blanket "They're a bad person because they're friends with this person" but more, "Be careful because you cannot tell if they're going to be genuine to you or not until you have extensive interactions and conversations with them" because there are people who take pics for zwei that I don't think are bad people
I think 95% of the people that take pics for these assholes fall into one of the following groups: clout chasers, oblivious, willfully ignorant because they refuse to pick a side (which is still picking a side btw)

Red flags that can indicate someone is a certain type of modder who doesn't care about the nerdy spirit of modding when you're asked/they ask you to model for their mod:
There is some sort of quid pro quo nonsense
They treat it like it's a job (elf and her deadlines and profiles and endless bullshit and god forbid you don't feel like taking pics for a while!!!)
They surround themselves with sycophants: these are the glazers, the people who are always like omgggg stoooppp youre soo amazzingg youre a goddess youre the smartest person in the world omg your mind. Yeah, move on from that.
They have activity requirements: see also treating it like a job. If you just want to lurk in a server and take pics for mods once every like 6 months because you live a busy life then you should be able to do that without feeling like you're going to lose friends
If they try to get you to stop associating with someone else: The people I am still friends with are still friends with me because they know my character, they know who I am, and they are mature and smart enough to consider what someone else says about me with what they know from direct experience with me. Anyone who doesn't do that is not worth your time. Anyone who drops you because of what they heard about you from someone else or because you associate with someone else is not worth your time or energy. Fuck them. You are better off without them.
The people who truly matter to you and who you truly matter to will stick with you through the bullshit. Those are the only people you need to care about.

When youโre changing core facial features, lightening skin, adding or removing defining features, or altering the traits that make a character look like their intended ethnicity to fit a more Eurocentric beauty standard, youโve stopped redesigning the character and started replacing them.
I got called โDEIโ because I pointed out that someone had whitewashed the hell out of Panam. Meanwhile, people have no problem with mods that completely change characters like that โHot Boiโ River mod. Which turns him into someone heโs not. To me, thatโs where the line is. Customize the outfit. Change the hair. Give them new makeup. Have fun with it. But once you erase the features that make a character who they are, especially the features tied to their identity, it just feels gross to me.

So to answer questions
5: Victoria loves grocery shoppingโฆ until it comes to buying actual groceries. She treats the store like a treasure hunt. She grabs junk food, magazines, chocolate, liquor and random shit. River on the other hand is practical He grabs the meat, vegetables, rice, spices, and everything needed for actual meals. He shops with a list and refuses to stray from it.
Victoria shops with her heart. They have had arguments about what they should get. River has to explain to her that they can not survive on chicken wings and tequila every night. ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
8: Both know how to swim, but River is the stronger swimmer. River learned growing up and is incredibly confident in the water. Lakes, rivers, the oceanโฆ none of it phases him. He swims with smooth, effortless strokes and has the endurance to stay out for hours. He used to swim with his mother. She taught him. Always told him the he was like water. Water burns fires out gets through metals and disrupts the earth. Anytime he swims thatโs when he feels the closest to her soul
Now Victoria Victoria can swim just as well.
She just hates it. During her time as a prisoner of war, water was used as a method of torture against her. The trauma never truly left. She learned to function around it, but deep water still makes her chest tighten before she even realizes why. Sheโll go swimming if River asks, and she trusts him more than anyone. But she wonโt go into deep water unless heโs with her.
12: Theyโre perfectly comfortable with silence. Victoria definitely talks more during the day. Sheโll tell River about a gig, complain about a client, ramble about a new outfit she wants, or ask the most random questions imaginable. She makes him laugh all the time. His nickname for her at times is Goof. Cause sheโs pretty goofy. They can laugh with each other for hours. When sheโs not around heโs pretty quiet. Itโs always her that brings it out of him.
As well tho get River a couple of drinks and River becomes surprisingly talkative. Stories from his NCPD days, memories of growing up, old cases, funny moments with Randy, even embarrassing childhood stories start pouring out. He loves telling the story about how he lost his eye. Although he greatly exaggerated it for many points (shock shock) itโs still a tale he loves to tell and something Victoria can mouth Word by Word. Heโs also the kind of person who can make friends almost anywhere. Give him a bar, a campfire, or a neighborhood cookout, and within twenty minutes heโs swapping stories with complete strangers like theyโve known each other for years. Victoria countless times told him to be careful but no matter how many times she scolds him he just start taking more.
