the mechanisms - the bifrost incident //Ā lemon demon - my trains
it <3
the mechanisms all being steampunk but not having steampunk backstories are so fucking funny. explain to me how a disgraced scientist who can sometimes make prophecies, a war vet who fought on the moon, and a cowboy with daddy issues all have similar fashion sense
Listening to our boy jack to hype myself up, call that a coping mechanism
Mechs blogs comment on this post so I can follow more of yāall?
What the fresh heck is a jivemind
Might be a lifestyle. Might be a religion. But so far it only jam.
Jam? š
The other day I saw a post like āacademia has a lot of imposter syndrome. For example: my co workers keep throwing me out of the airlock.ā
I was so distracted by the idea that op thought Dr Carmilla refers to the mechanisms as their ācoworkersā that I totally forgot Among Us was a thing.
Y'know what? Fuck it! Uncravats your Edgeworth.
I am always fascinated and a little awed by people who seem to fit inside their own bodies.
You know what I meanāpeople who inhabit themselves as though they were supposed to be there.
As though it comes effortlessly to them.
Iām not referring to athleticism or physical beauty. Grace is nearly the idea, but not quite. What Iām describing is just a natural physicality, with or without elegance to itāpeople who can move and speak and express themselves in ways that seem as though they are fully integrated into their own flesh.
I often feel like a ghost possessing my own body. I have to think about motion and expression and intonation constantly. If I am not pouring careful intent into my muscles and my face and my voice, I come out... mushy and shambling. I have no sense of rhythm; simply clapping in time with a song takes my full concentration. My face is pretty enough, when motionless, but my expressions are awkward and contorted and flinching. I am my own inexpert marionette. I wear my flesh like an ill-fitting suit.
If you do not have role models for the ability to be in your own body, then you were failed by those around you. But that is not the end of it. You must seek out those models, practice the things you admire, and integrate them into your own being. You are stuck doing that for yourself since nobody gave you that gift. You have to seize your own potential being.
That sounds kind of hi-falutin' but it is really what I had to do. I have just tried to say it clearly.
Oh, itās really not about confidence. Iāve had #bodyissues aplenty, but this is a little different.
I guess the closest metaphor I can provide is vehicular. Imagine that youāre driving stick shift for the first timeāyou know, intellectually, how it works and how it operates, but you donāt have the instinct or muscle memory to shift gears smoothly. Other drivers seem to be using automatic transmission. Theyāre able to navigate and/or carry on a conversation while they drive and seem to do so easily, while you are using all your focus to switch gears manually without giving yourself whiplash. Itās not uncomfortable because thereās something wrong with the carāitās just awkward and draining and stilted, and you wish you had automatic transition, and it doesnāt seem to get better with practice, and no one around you seems even seems to notice when theyāre shifting gears because itās so unconscious.
Same energy as that Ursula K. Le Guin quote about dogs, cats and dancers
cannot believe death to the mechanisms technically happened this year the passage of time truly is a mystery
orpheus voice i hate the suits they make me sing about my problems with the government and shout go white boy go
I donāt think anyone knows what that song is about, it literally came to Jessica Law in a dream
the mechanisms "terminus" // the magnus archives "last words"
Jonny really said oldschool creepypasta rights
[Photo ID: a meme with members of the band Mechanisms, excluding Nastya and Ivy. Toy Soldier is in the center, excited with outstretched arms, tagged with text '#Jivemind supremacy'. the rest of the present crew members is surrounding it from behind and is looking down at it with disapointment except Jonny, whom is facepalming.
