The entire walk there was eerily silent, at least on Ryou’s part. His back was to Bakura and it certainly didn’t feel like a normal date. Hell, it didn’t even feel like two friends hanging out with how much distance and general lack of interaction there was between the two. Though, there were thoughts going through his head constantly.

There were images of the times Bakura had gotten almost intimately close to the boy only instead of continuing with what he was doing the images would warp to him pulling away and mocking Ryou saying ‘ You fool. Did you ever think I would want you? Don’t be ridiculous you are my host and nothing more.’

These dark thoughts continued as the two walked along the street. Ryou didn’t even seem interested in scanning the window displays of all the different shops as he usually did when they went out together. His eyes were downcast as he mentally berated himself for getting his hopes up even just a little bit and continued punishing himself with mental images of ‘1000 Ways to be Rejected By Bakura’ the feature-length film in his head.. and unintentionally through their mind link as well.

Of course, Bakura was not blind to the wants of his host. They had a mindlink for a reason, and sometimes (all the time), things leaked through. It was inevitable, but Bakura just..wasn’t..suited for that. At least, he didn’t think he was. He had too much on his plate and too little interest. So quietly he followed, hands in pockets and eyes almost drilling a hole into the back of Ryou’s head.

If looks could kill, he supposed..

Rubbing at his face, he barely suppressed a groan at the images flickering in front of him through the link. “If you would keep your thoughts to yourself, that would be greatly appreciated,” he muttered, eyes narrowing slightly.

Ryou listened to Bakura’s words and studied his reactions. He wasn’t sure how to take anything he was witnessing right now and maybe his eyes were playing tricks on him but the spirit looked a bit.. hurt? He just didn’t want the other to mess with his feelings and leave him in the dust especially if he didn’t want Ryou getting anything from the experience. He didn’t just go on dates because he felt like it.

He wanted someone who actually had feelings for him and the spirit of the ring was the last person he’d expect to have such. If he did, he never showed any inclination that they were there and he certainly didn’t treat Ryou like he had feelings for him. The boy looked down with an unreadable expression.

“ It’s not that I don’t.. but I only go on dates with someone who wants a relationship with me Bakura.. and judging by your past treatment of me you definitely don’t. Plus, you’re a spirit and I’m a human.. don’t you consider humans beneath you? I.. want to.. but I don’t want you to get into something you don’t understand either..”

He shook his head. “ You know what? I’d love to spend time with you. Let’s go to the arcade and eat there. My treat!”

“I don’t really do relationships, Host. You know this.”

A shrug, and he clicked his tongue, crossing his legs and propping them up on the table, fingers tapping against his legs. He supposed Ryou had a point. Bakura had no intentions of pursuing any kind of romantic relationship at the moment..if ever. It just wasn’t his thing, really.

Besides, he wasn’t a romantic person. Just wasn’t in his nature. A sigh, and he blinked a few times before snorting in amusement. “The arcade..how did I know that you were going to say that? That’s fine, though.”

Ryou paused, running over what the other had just said to him in his head. Don’t get any ideas? Did he even understand the meaning of a date? He let out a deep sigh and ran a hand through his hair.

“ Bakura.. do you have any clue what you’re asking me because if you’re going to have any regrets or second thoughts.. I’ll just pretend you didn’t say that and we can forget the whole thing even happened. Did someone put you up to this?”

“..No one put me up to it.”

Bakura squinted, rubbing the back of his neck before wrinkling his nose. “It’s just a simple yes or no question, Host. Do you want to go on a date or do you not?” The question sounded almost awkward coming from his lips, and he pursed his lips after a moment.

“..Oh, you know what? Just forget I even asked, if you’re going to be like this.”

First he was startled, then he was shocked and then he was kissing back because he would be DAMNED if he was going to let Bakura get the best of him. Atem let out a growl and tugged his arch enemy closer. After all, it was all a game anyways was it not?

Oh.

He certainly didn’t expect Atem to go along with this. Not at all. Fingers clutched at the other’s shirt as he was tugged closer. For once, it was nice to let out the tension (despite his conflicted feelings towards the Pharaoh), so he let himself be tugged around, for the time being, anyways.

He arched a brow. “Can I help you with something thief?”

Bakura stood there a moment, weighing his options for a second before he just clicked his tongue. “Feel free to hit me for this, if you wish. I’ll give this one to you.”

And, with that, he grabbed Atem’s collar before yanking him in and kissing him hard on the lips.
