A Multi-Shipper’s Hot Take on BnHA Ships: Todobaku
Todoroki Shouto/Bakugou Katsuki: Oh my gosh. The dynamics in this relationship. So freakin’ good. Mwaah. Delicious. These two can both bring each other up and support each other when they’re down. They challenge each other to be better, Todoroki to overcome his obstacles and Bakugou to become a better, kinder version of himself. Bakugou and Todoroki were societal creations in different ways, the culmination of warped ideals and a culture obsessed with perfection and becoming stronger. The world and its messed up values were what created them, and they are both fighting to be who they want to be instead of who the world sees them as. Bakugou has always been at the top. He has always been the strongest. He has known nothing but praise for his strength and has had his flaws overlooked and ignored, and therefore thought those flaws were strength as well. He’s now at the age and in a place where he’s slowly learning, “hey, maybe this isn’t okay after all” and he is slowly deconstructing and reconstructing himself into a better person, into a better hero. True change comes about slowly. The parallels between Bakugou and Endeavor are likely intentional, but as the series continues, the differences between them grow larger and larger. Bakugou is not too far gone. He hasn’t made the step from bully to villain, like (I personally feel) Endeavor has. And this is so incredibly important for Todoroki to see - that people can change, that people can grow, that people can be rash and short-tempered and passionate all while learning not to hurt others. Endeavor always acted believing the ends justified the means, but Bakugou is learning that that really isn’t the case. Having a solid relationship with Todoroki, who has seen and experienced real evil in his own home, can ultimately only change Bakugou for the better. And Todoroki has never been afraid of calling anyone on their bullshit, so he is uniquely equipped to help Bakugou grow into the hero he’s going to be. And Bakugou would do wonders for Todoroki too. Todoroki needs to know that vigor and passion and ambition don’t always lead to horrible things. He deserves to see that such ferocity can also lead to positive things, like unwavering devotion and the inability to give up. Todoroki deserves to have such passion directed toward him in a positive way, out of love for him as he is instead of who Endeavor wants him to be. If Todoroki didn’t hate Bakugou the moment he saw him, then he could clearly see the differences between Bakugou and Endeavor. He has never once seen Bakugou as someone to hate, unlike Endeavor. He isn’t in the least bit intimidated by him either. Todoroki has spent his whole life defying his father; he never gives up either, and he is always ready to face any challenge worth facing. Todoroki deserves to know that passion doesn’t always lead to violence and hatred. That there are people with aggressive personalities who still value the lives of others, who won’t take their inner fire and burn him with it. He deserves someone strong and passionate who will be strong for him and passionate about him. We already know how Todoroki looks danger in the face and defies it with every fiber of his being. He grew up under the abusive rule of his father, and has rebelled against it for fifteen years. Todoroki has seen real bullies, has lived with one his whole life, and never once thinks of Bakugou in the same light as his father. He doesn’t shy away from danger. He flirts with it. He is fearless in his interactions with Bakugou. In turn, Bakugou needs someone who can both handle him and help him to learn some self-control. He’s the only one other than Izuku who knows Todoroki’s past, and he wouldn’t have found it so horrifying if he was just as bad as Endeavor. He has shown that he is mindful of it, and has deferred to Todoroki because of it. He doesn’t look down on Todoroki for his experiences, but he doesn’t dismiss and forget them either. He gets frustrated when they fight and he can’t break through the chains binding Todoroki like Midoriya could. He wants victory over Todoroki, the real Todoroki who isn’t shackled by his past. He wants Todoroki to break free and get stronger, to be who he is meant to be. These are interesting dynamics that work romantically or platonically. Whether you see them as romantic, as friends, or as rivals, all of these dynamics stay exactly the same. These are the foundational aspects of their relationship. Bakugou and Todoroki are fun because they both have their different brands of sass. They both fight with everything they have and have a strong, deeply-ingrained belief system. They are both changing slowly to become better people, to step out of the mold that society has tried to fit them into. For me, nothing is more fascinating than seeing a relationship built upon mutual growth with a copious amount of sass and banter thrown in. This is a relationship built upon passion and wit, competition, mutual growth, and shared core values.
A Multi-Shipper’s Hot Take on BnHA Ships: Tododeku
Todoroki Shouto/Midoriya Izuku: Oh my gosh. So soft. So kind and supportive, with deep-seated love and fierce loyalty thrown in. These two can support each other in their darkest moments, both knowing and understanding what the other is going through due to their individual, different experiences that were traumatic in their own ways. Midoriya was a reject of society, and still he persevered and remained true to himself. Todoroki wasn’t quite rejected by society, but his troubles were ignored by it. In a way, they were both overshadowed, by people with quirks or by a famous and terrible father. They both know what it is like to be ignored, to be torn down and have to reconstruct themselves with little or no support. They both latch onto the love they’ve experienced and draw strength from that, even if everything and everyone else is against them. Society was against them both from the start: Midoriya, because he was quirkless and therefore “worthless,” and Todoroki, because he was Endeavor’s son and could never be anything other than that, could never be a victim of abuse because his father is a “hero,” could never just be “Shouto” without “Todoroki” attached to it. Ignored and overlooked. These experiences have affected them differently, which actually helps them to balance each other out. Midoriya has been the weakest and he has been the strongest. He has seen the world from both sides. This has made him incredibly empathetic and understanding, even if he is sometimes awkward about it. His empathy makes it easier for him to communicate with and help Todoroki, who has stifled all of his other emotions in favor of anger for the majority of his life. The best way for Todoroki to discover himself outside of his anger and defiance is with someone who has far more experience with the emotions foreign to Todoroki. Todoroki is very open and honest about his emotions, but I think he has a hard time recognizing them and analyzing himself because he’s only allowed himself anger. Todoroki needs someone who can help him discover himself, who can lead him gently by the hand or punch him directly in the face, as needed. Someone who can show him that yes, he is nothing like his father, yes, he can be who he wants to be, yes, he is already someone who is kind and beautiful and loving who deserves all of those things in turn. At the same time, since Todoroki has defied his fate and his father for the entirety of his life, this has made him so incredibly strong. He doesn’t give in, give up, or compromise on the things that matter most to him. He will defy authority figures if he believes they are in the wrong, regardless of superiority or status. He will break rules he doesn’t agree with for good reasons. He has been working toward becoming stronger for his mother, which shows his intense devotion and loyalty and love. Todoroki loves very few people, but he will love those people with the entirety of his being for the rest of his life. He will always rush to their side if they need anything, big or small. He is the kind of support Midoriya has always needed in his life, someone strong and constant and dedicated. Midoriya’s mother has done her best, and she is an amazing mother, but she can’t be Midoriya’s only support. He needs someone who has 100% chosen him to show him that yes, he has worth, yes, he is lovable, yes, he deserves all the good things in the world. Their relationship is about support and proving to each other that they are each wonderful and worthy of love, and fuck the world and the people in it for telling them anything different. And this type of relationship doesn’t have to be romantic. This is already the type of relationship they have. Love doesn’t have to be sexual. Whether you ship them or not, their relationship is strong and built upon devotion, loyalty, and support. They have both endured and found the support they needed in each other.
I wanna walk with you in the low light I wanna walk with you
“ Back when we were animalsㅤ And no one knew just where to find us We were soldiers in the field If we knew the best was behind us ”
I’ll do whatever I can for my family … for Sakura. That’s the one thing I’m sure about. So just wait a little longer, Yue.
A short letter.
Dear anxiety, Please stop. Just stop. If you could chill a bit, that would be great. :) Sincerely, me
An important question.
I’m watching the Santa Clause 2 with my family and it’s all about Santa needing to find Mrs. Claus in order to retain his Christmas magic. And, watching this movie as an adult, I’m just wondering... When the original Santa disappeared in the first movie, what happened to his wife? The wife he was required to have in order to BE Santa Claus? Where is the original Mrs. Claus?
A bit of a change.
Hello! I know this blog hasn’t been updated in nearly two years. It was just a dumping ground for my art, and I haven’t really been able to draw for a while due to the nerve damage I incurred during a long ago car accident. :/ So I’ve decided to commandeer this blog for personal use instead of using it to post my sad lack of artwork. If any of my followers are still interested in seeing my artwork, it can now be found over at my new art blog, Paint Pops. I can’t promise frequent or regular posts, but even nerve damage can’t keep me from drawing. I’ll figure something out. :) In the mean time, this blog will now feature more personal things, most likely related to my myriad of interests, including video games (Final Fantasy, Tales of, Pokemon, Persona, etc.), anime/manga (Boku no Hero Academia, Haikyuu!!, Yuri!!! on Ice, etc.), miscellaneous books or TV shows (Voltron, The Raven Cycle, Stranger Things, etc.), Japanese music, art/writing I enjoy, and fun stuff like that. :3 Thank you for following up until now and I hope to be more active and get to know you better~!
Every artist who sees this post should do the following:
- Watch the video.
- Follow the instructions
- Reblog
I can’t stress you enough about how important these exercises are for your drawing hand. You don’t wanna get CTS of Tendonitis and similar stuff that will prevent you from making art or even hold a pencil.
Okay, this guy is my HERO. I just did these exercises as I watched the video, and already my arms and hands feel better. I have a degenerative tendon disease that prevents my muscles, tendons and ligaments from retaining their elasticity, and so anything that maintains the health of my bendy parts is important.
I URGE YOU. Even if you don’t draw, do these several times a day. Even just sitting at a computer can do serious damage. My dad, who was a rugby player, a carpenter, and now a handyman, suffered from severe carpal tunnel syndrome, simply as a result of sitting at the computer at the end of the day to play a little solitaire. Don’t let it happen to you!
Wow, these are REALLY helpful. And yes, this is not just good but IMPORTANT for more than artists — if you type a lot, play a lot of video games, do anything that requires lots of repetitive movements of your hands, wrists, and arms (gardening, sewing, factory work), these can help. Even if you don’t yet get pain these are a great preventative measure, because the damage builds up over time. Youth is no protection.
And like he says, you should feel a stretch, but don’t push it too far!
Signal boosting. Guys, I just did this and holy cow do I feel incredibly light and limber in my arms. Again, even if you don’t have any sort of disease, do this as a preventative measure.
DEAR LORD THIS FELT WONDERFUL THANK YOU SO MUCH TO omfg-am-i-hallucinating-again FOR SENDING THIS TO ME
I have pretty f’d up tendinitis and this felt awesome.
Found this a while ago! Glad to see it on my feed.
I don’t wear a wrist brace anymore thanks to this video!
I’ve reblogged this before. But a reminder that its important to stretch!
I saw this and thought “Aw, this adorable cat comes in the colors Arid and Cream.” ...automatic subeta-related thought.
