MY MODUS OPERANDI IS TO DIAL UP THE AWESOME AND BREAK THE KNOB OFF.
@tointernalizeā
Ā Ā Sunset on the outskirts of Houston, Texas. Seedy motels and dingy taverns. Fast food joints and a few diners lit with flickering fluorescents. Itās an easy place for solitude: One can cross the street from their motel, grab a bite to eat, go to the bar next door and get a drink, and return to their room in some hours without any extensive conversation, no one given the possibility to remember them or give a description, another nameless face among the countless others. There are thousands living a similarly lonesome lifestyle in these types of places, the grey areas between city and country. Nomads of a modern world.
Ā Ā Ā However, what makes the lifestyle so difficult is that Cy Korse is, and has always been, a social creature. Always the life of the party, always quick to make friends, now forced to keep head down, eyes averted, and, the hardest part, mouth shut.
Ā Ā Ā But, on occasion, the presence of Horizons on her trail--- a static buzzing in the back of her mind, a sickly dread that weighs heavier when they are near-- fades enough to let her know that sheās made it far enough away to get comfortable for a few days. Then, only then, does she indulge in old, comforting habits. Small talk with the waitress, smiles at strangers, flirting with baristas. She feels that peace on this Texas evening, all dusty, potholed roads and distant thunderclouds alive with silent heat lightning. If the weight remains lifted for a few days more, sheāll pick up a disposable cell phone and leave a message on her familyās answering machine. Until then, sheās only comfortable enough to mingle with the strangers around her.
Ā Ā Ā Her first victim is the man two barstools down. Also seen staying in a room near hers at the motel across the street. Sheās sent glance or two his way and noted the similarities-- One might mistake the pair for cousins or even siblings at first look: Muscular, too tall, too freckled, crooked noses. Hell, for a moment, she considers the possibility of having found a possible biological relative, but no. Just another nomad. Interesting man. The weatherman on the TV mounted on the wall is decidedly less so-- Average and conventionally attractive with his good hair and grey blazer. Less fun to watch. Cy speaks to the man to her left:
Ā Ā Ā āYou getting out of town before the hurricane comes through?ā
mood: going to burger king @ 11 PM, ordering several medium fries, sitting there & eating them in a completely mentaly/emotionally detached state, while wearing one of their paper crowns
@loschen
Ā Ā Ā ā ----- Youāll go with Adamās team through the first floor. Theyāll take care of security, your jobās going to be to get upstairs as quietly as possible and get into the guyās office while heās still worried about our guys downstairs. Leeās team will cover the outside.Ā āĀ
Ā Ā Blueprints on the desk, marked with arrows and circles and Xs. Cy in her chair, Jack standing by her side. She stifles a yawn. Tired.
Ā Ā Ā ā If this goes well, itās a lot of money coming our way. We might need to open a few more stores for laundering.Ā āĀ
Ā Ā Ā She scribbles down a note to remember in the morning. Almost done for the day. Thereās a few more minutes of debriefing, of flipping through plans and notes. Itās only when sheās sure that everythingās wrapped up and prepared for the following dayās raid that she leans back in the chair, eyes closed. Her hand finds Jackās, briefly toying with his wedding band before fingers interlock.
Ā Ā Ā ā Take me home, babe.Ā ā
self care is waking up from being shot in the head and walking across the mojave for petty revenge
redoing the blog! stay! tuned!

Ā Ā ā I stopped reporting to them⦠must have been about two months before you found me out. āĀ Ā He watches the cigarette burn down, thinking about it. Ā ā Still received some messages after that, but the last one was over a year ago. Asking why I hadnāt sent them any updates. I guess they figured it out after that. ā
Why wait this long to try and send anyone else? Ā Perhaps they were playing it safe, waiting until they thought Jack had forgotten about them. Ā ( As if he could, he thinks bitterly. ) Ā ā If they get too close ā- we wonāt be able to stay here. ā
Ā Ā Ā āI know.ā She sighs, and the objects suspended above her desk speed up in their revolution about each other. Amy. Every idea of just what to do revolves around her. The business can fall. Amy must be protected.Ā
Ā Ā Ā āI want tighter security on Amy. They canāt know about her. We canāt let her use her powers anywhere they might see her.ā She swallows.Ā āIāve got connections out west, near where I grew up. We can go there.ā
Chaotic good
yo guys!!! iāve changed cyās main verse to a later part of her story, when sheās on the run after escaping from horizons. deets are in the bio page!! everything is still heavily under construction and progress will be slow because of school but!! iāll start working on some things to provide a lil more info about this verse!!
side note, iāve also deleted all other verses except for ;; sinister kid., which is the mobster verse as yāall knowĀ
so thatās it!! soon i might post a starter call and get the ball rolling!!

Ā Ā Ā ā Heās no one I know, if thatās what youāre asking. ā Ā His hands wonāt stop shaking ā he swears slightly as it takes him a few tries to successfully light up and shove the pack back into his pockets, and the nicotine doesnāt stave off the anxiety like he wishes it would. Ā ā But ā he reminded me of Ā them.Ā You know how they trained us. ā Ā Thereās no point in tip-toeing around it. He looks back to her. Ā āĀ ā¦We knew they would have to come eventually. I could be wrong ā I hope Iām wrong ā butā¦Ā ā
Ā Ā Ā āYeah. I know.ā Nervous energy pricks at her hands like static, and a pen from the shelf joins the knick knack, the two revolving around each other.Ā āThink worst case scenario: Itās them. Weāve got to think of a plan. What was the last you heard from them?ā
loschen:
Ā Ā Ā ā Then Iāll do some digging. ā Ā Something doesnāt settle quite right in his gut, this sense that heās missing something ā but thereās a familiarity in the way the other had spoke, a gaze that lingered not only on Cy but on him. A look like I know youĀ and he hasnāt been able to shake it since their guest had left. Surely itās his paranoia, right? He frowns, digging through his pockets for a cigarette.
Ā Ā Ā A glance his way as she bites at the inside of her lip. She walks around to her desk, leaving him at the window. Fingers twitch and one of her knick knacks is floating above her desk, slowly revolving as Cy takes her place in her chair-- A restless habit.Ā āHe remind you of anyone in particular?ā Thereās an uneasy familiarity she canāt shake. The office is unnaturally quiet, the meeting weighing heavy on the both of them.Ā āWouldnāt be surprised if he was bugged. Had a camera, even.ā
loschen:
Ā Ā Ā ā I DONāT TRUST HIM. āĀ Ā Simple as that, really ā if she dislikes the opinion, then she shouldnāt have made Jack responsible for Ā security.Ā He looks at Cy, then back at the window, watching the figure vanish into the evening rain. Ā ā Something isnāt quite right. If you wanna do business with him, thatās your call ā but I donāt trust him. ā
@viisvires
Ā Ā Ā āMm.ā By Jackās side, before the window, she watches the man disappear into the fog as if heād never existed.Ā āYouāre right. Heās not who he says he is.ā She cants her head a fraction. The watch was a knock-off, his smile too eager, trying too hard for confident. Came off fake.Ā āBut-- I want to know who heās working for. He came here to scout us out.ā
There's a package waiting for Cy when she wakes up, wrapped in shades of red and white ribbon. The contents consist of a box of assorted chocolates and a note. "Booked you a visit to that spa you like. Go treat yourself today. I've got Amy. - xo Jack"
Ā Ā Ā The twinge of disappointment that always comes with rolling over to find Jackās side of the bed empty quickly melts away at the sight of the box. She sits up to open it and smiles at its contents. A hum.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Itās funny, she thinks. Funny that they do these things, that they know how. Being raised up in a place like the Program never gave them a good idea, if any idea at all, of what love might look like. Feel like, even. It had taken them months of secret, late-night rendez-vous to realize that the feelings they harbored for each other ran deeper than friendship. There wasnāt really a name for it until the handlers would mock with taunts ofĀ āboyfriendā orĀ āgirlfriendā, a foreign concept whose definition they had to learn little by little. But their feelings were crystal clear. It was only their understandings of them that were muddy, and remained so for a very long time.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Now, adults and free, they can do things like this, and itās funny, because it comes so naturally. Love comes naturally, you donāt have to learn how to feel it. Only how to identify it-- And she does, more and more often. This is love, she thought when they embraced the night she remembered him. This is love, she thought when they held their hands over her pregnant belly, tiny Amy kicking within. This is love, she thinks now.
Ā Ā Ā She pulls out her phone, shoots a text.
[ SMS: Jack ] Thanks babe.
[ SMS: Jack ] Love you.
hi iām rebooting this blog and making lots of changes so consider everything UNDER CONSTRUCTION for a while THANKS
loschen:
Ā Ā Ā ā And when am Iā ā Ā He closes his mouth before finishing that question, because when is he everĀ careful? Ā Perhaps more so now than he used to be. Ā ( More so now that he has people who care about him, Ā people to protect. ) Ā Frustrated, Jackās mouth presses into a thin line, and he finally draws back, standing straight with his hands shoved into his pockets.
Ā Ā Ā Sheās staring at him ā that she does that still, after all this time, amuses the hell out of him. But itās not like heās any better about it either, so who is he to point that out? Ā He might actually Ā enjoy itĀ if he wasnāt so livid with the restrictions she keeps putting on him. Ā ā Fine, Iāll take Tony and his crew. Happy? ā
Ā Ā Ā āMm.ā Not quite an agreement or disagreement. Her eyes return to his face, and she still doesnāt like the look heās giving her, or his tone. She leans back in the chair (massive and leather for dramatic effect, of course) and thinks for a moment.Ā
Ā Ā Ā āDonāt look at me like that.ā She beckons him with a finger.Ā āDo the next one solo, yeah?ā
loschen:
Ā Ā Ā ā Fantastic.Ā Glad to know you think Ā so highly Ā of me that you would accuse me of being a show-off. āĀ Hands palm down over her desk, he leans over it to glower at her. Sheās busy holding grudges when she Ā shouldĀ be focused on the job at hand. Why bother asking him for his opinion if sheās going to reject it? Ā ( But then, thatās the game they play these days. )
Ā Ā Ā ā Itās the quickest way in and out and you know it. The other guys arenāt exactly subtleĀ ā theyāll blow the whole thing wide open before you even get a chanceĀ to snatch it. So stop being so Ā STUBBORNĀ about it and weāll go car shopping when I get back. ā
Ā Ā Ā āThe quickest way in is also the quickest way to get caught if youāre not careful.ā He will be. She knows he will be. But she canāt lose him again--- Canāt risk it.
Ā Ā Ā And she doesnāt like the look heās giving her. Disrespectful. It stirs up that stubborn indignation that comes up so often, and while their workers may believe that heās immune to it, thatās absolutely not the case. āHands off my desk.āĀ
Ā Ā Ā A moment of consideration. Watching him all the while, eyes wandering, perhaps the faintest smirk ghosting her features.
Ā Ā Ā āYou can go, but youāre taking reinforcements in with you. UseĀ āem as a diversion if you have to, whatever. It has to be quick, but more importantly, itās got to be clean. Got it?ā
