Rue after escaping containment lives on her own for a few years before being recruited by Fontaine to bring much needed change to the failing New Avengers. She is brought in as a shiny new addition, a similar sponsorship to what she was planning with Sentry. Valentina promised to keep her fed and protected from containment and Rue agreed.

My oc, Rue!

Rue is an alien-human hybrid born aboard Erebus Station, a deep-space research outpost studying extraterrestrial microbiology. During the final months of her mother’s pregnancy, a newly discovered spaceborne organism breached containment. It infected her mother and partially consumed the developing fetus — rewriting half of Rue’s DNA before birth.

The result was a child built on two blueprints: human and something unknown.

Erebus Station went dark two weeks later.

When a rescue team finally boarded, they found no bodies — only shredded suits, bloodstains, and signs of violent predation. The sole survivor was an infant girl sitting among the wreckage, surrounded by the remains of ration packs and equipment she had bitten through. The implication was horrifying: the hybrid organism inside her had given her an insatiable hunger she could not control.
