Free-dom

The the word that often misleads. Ambiguous in a way. Some would use it to express rebellion as to them it's powerful. Others would say that the word means happiness. I'm not trying to be know-it-all. But to me, regardless of the meaning of the damn word, it's actually in the mind, our mind. It starts from within, no? You have to think freedom, in order to feel freedom. Expect it, then you can experience it. You don't necessarily need to fight for it because time heals. Yeah.

What's up?

I know well that I have been ignoring my Tumblr. For ages! Oh no…but things happen for a reason. I literally have lost track of the purpose of having an account here. Mean as fuck, but honesty is the best policy :-P (and now vulgarity?) So, I scrolled down my account to read my previous posts. And I’m glad I did :-) 2-3 years back, I was this amazing, optimist, resilient kind of person who wrote (and reblogged). Glad I was that guy. (self-praise for the moment) Well, if it wasn’t because of this guy, I wouldn’t be able to survive those 2-3 years of roller-coaster ride. I wouldn’t be where am at now. Highlighted and documented. My point is, you wouldn’t really know what would happen. But the efforts, the acquired skills, the endless hopes and prayers, the wasted time and money, do pay off. In a way. Yes, in a way. And I managed to realize this (why and how they paid off) because of my writings. Yay! About worklife. Though working in a corporate world is assisting myself to become more and more matured in decision making, thinking, worldview etc, as stubborn as I always was, nothing would change who I am from deep within. I care less about achieving KPIs. I rather take the backseat, while enjoying life at a desired pace. The law of attraction. 2015, I finally reached Africa! Addis Ababa is a precious jewel, so beautiful. I really wanna backpack there one fine day and maybe to various parts of Ethiopia as well. I was in Cameroon for 4 weeks. I love Limbe in particular, the town of friendship. Wrote/reblogged a few times about Africa before, God knows I love Africa. :-) The downside. I care less about the marginalized. I don’t know why the heck am I mentioning this, but that’s what I feel. I feel that I have neglected my calling to…..sigh I can’t finish up my words. The real deal. We sacrifice something to get something. The economic of performing this kind of trades requires lots and lots of controllable and non-controllable stuff to intervene. So, shut up and just do it. Sing with the birds. Dance with the music. And live, with NO REGRETS!

A number, dedicated for me this year, on this very day. Thank you God, am ever so grateful for this beautiful life you have planned for me.

Certainly it has never been easy for me to carve out this path without knowing where to pause and where to bend. Fearful of every little outcome…surely it was affecting each decision I had to call. I wanted an ice-cream, I got a candy or worse, a cotton candy.

Nonetheless, by getting a cotton candy, it actually set a different motive of drawing: sort of whimsical in a way, but worthy of praise, quite a photo-opportunity, if I may say.

Sadly, I didn’t want that. I didn’t want a sweet offering, instead an adventurous one. So, one misadventure led to another, led to another, and the cycle continued.

24 years down the road, it seems to me I have been nutting out some of the best survival skills, and eventually applying them soulfully. Now, I’m starting to see colours. Yet to tone, but they are all there, almost certainly.

I need a fabric or a canvas.

To pause or to continue, even if it requires me to bend the path…it takes guts to do it. No more unnecessary fear. Those colours, they are the best teacher.

What about the platform to harmonize them?

Would it be a fabric or a canvas? It doesn’t matter. Only God knows. All I can do is to continue moving forward. That simple.

maxime the stylite monk has lived in a monastery atop georgia’s 131 foot katskhi pillar for twenty years. maxime, who at 59 needs twenty minutes to make the climb down (third photo), said, “since i was a child i dreamed of settling on the top of this pillar as other hermits did in ancient times.” as a young man, maxime led a life of crime, but decided with his release from prison to start a new life, take his monastic vows and climb the pillar, which he has lived on since 1993. 

though no one knows exactly how or why, the monastery was built sometime between the sixth and eight century. the pillar had sat idly since the 15th century when the ottomans invaded georgia. no one had even been to the top for centuries until an alpinist climbed it and found the skeleton of a monk in 1944.

What I've been missing :-(

at the very city limits of lahore, some of the most polluted land in pakistan is unofficially home to approximately 17,000 afghan refugees. evicted over a decade ago from then official camps on the frontier, their status and rights as refugees have become increasingly eroded.

a marginalized community who escaped war in eastern afghanistan, they now eat, sleep and pray on the landfill site, bordered by water blackened with effluent from the factories upriver.  that said, life here is still considered a better option than their home country.

those born in the camp have little hope of ever escaping the filth and poverty of their circumstance. whenever a child reaches the age when they can sling a sack over their shoulder, they start work in the dump collecting garbage. when they get a little older they are promoted to separating glass or laboring in the depots.

their infections and insect bites concealed under a layer of dirt, most of the children go days without washing. with just a few points from which to access the unsafe ground water supply, no latrines and their shacks full of the rubbish they bring home each evening, treatable diseases at the refugee camp are rampant and deadly.
