Canon facts about Doctor Strange most people don’t know:
He grew up in a farm, Nebrasca.
He was a veterinarian for some time (disguise).
He knows how to do most farm related things, including building things, chopping wood and stuff he had to do/helped at home when he was younger.
He helped his mom raise his younger bro Victor and his younger sister Donna, so he knows how to raise children.
He’s a neurosurgeon, but his medicine knowledge is vast. In fact, every doctor has to study the basic (not so basic, more than basic) of every area, and indeed, we already saw Strange assisting Wanda when she gave birth in the comics, and he’s great at that.
Some comics suggest Strange’s car crash was caused by himself on purpose as an attempted suicide. It says how he hated himself, the social masks he had to wear, how he couldn’t find himself and how his family’s death had such a great impact on him. Also, Strange probably lived a life according to his strict father’s rules (cartoon canon, he wasn’t even allowed to play with other kids during Halloween) and that made him become someone he didn’t want to be, he was lost, he didn’t know what he wanted of his life and that had turned into alcoholism, smoking and most of all, a lot of consuming and spending money to feel good.
If Strange’s father hadn’t been so strict, we could have seen a younger Stephen useing belts, paintig his nails black and playing guitar for a rock band. In the comics and Avengers Academy, he mentions that and, considering Avengers academy shows how our heroes would be when they were 20 something and Stephen has his nails painted black et al, we can consider that character info canon. It’s also mentioned in the comics.
Strange can play the piano and the guitar. I have no info, but it’s possible he knows how to play other instruments as well.
Stephen wanted to join a Rock/Metal band and become a star.
Despite Stephen knowing the basics about how to deal with people, he deals a lot better with animals.
Strange has a ghost dog named Bats. Loki killed him in the comics.
Strange is the hero who died the most.
Strange also is among the top heroes who suffered physical, mental and even sexual abuse by villains, and according to some theories, by his father too, because of his different tastes and sexuality.
His birthday is on November 18th.
He’s a Scorpio, and indeed, he was living and still lives life at its limit.
Magic has biologic side effects on his body, including mystic diseases, mystic hunger, change of hair color into black/gray, change of eye color into silver/slightly green.
He dyed his white stripes black so people would stop saying he was old.
His magic works at the speed of thought, but some automatic spells and some anticipation spells can work even faster (Black Priest).
