An example of vertical Tasting.

So there are different ways to taste wine.
Have you heard of horizontal or vertical tasting? If not I got you!
Horizontal tasting is when focus of the tasting is on a range of different wines but, the wines are from the same year. With vertical tasting focus is shifted to one specific type of wine, but the wines are made in different years.
I hope your week is going well so far.
Cheers 🍷
Wine terms you might want to know.
Good afternoon friends, hope all is well. Here are a few wine terms.
Vintage: this refers to the year the grapes were harvested and the year the wine is bottled.
Varietal: refers to the type grape used to make wine.
Breathing or aeration: exposing wine to oxygen in order to improve its flavours by means of a decanter(there are other accessories made for this) or in my case a jug.
Viscosity: this term describes the consistency of wine. Thicker wine that flows down the glass slower after a swirl is higher in viscosity, while wine lower in viscosity is less thick. Viscosity is also an indicator of alcohol level.
Nose: refers to the aromas of the wine. It forms part of the steps of wine tasting.
I am new to blogging and still learning about wine and the industry. Please email me at [email protected] with suggestions or questions.

Siwela wines By Siwela
Siwela wines is a black female wine brand owned by the wonderful Siwela Masoga. The wine range consists of red, white, sparkling wine and is suitable for a beginner wine drinker.
I am honoured to have a powerhouse such as Siwela to look up to in such a white male dominated industry.
I have no choice but to stan.

Storing wine
Have you ever tried to enjoy a glass of wine but it tastes "off"? Could be because of how it was stored (including other factors).
Do not store your wine by the window or anywhere where it could be affected by direct sunlight. UV rays affects the flavour of wine and causes it to age too quick. I had to dump two bottles of wine because I stored them by the window. Too much heat is bad for your wine. Avoid storing wine close to a heat source like an oven, as heat will force the wine cork out due to expansion. Preferably wine is to be stored in a wine cooler as it has the perfect environment for wine, but in the meantime its OK to store your bottle in the fridge for a few days if you don't have the luxury of a wine cooler.
Cheers.
