The trans girl track team wins every meet because theres no one to compete against. The football team gets disqualified every time because theres not enough people to play.

Trying to prove a point to someone who doesn’t understand why going to a new doctor would be anxiety inducing because “they’ve literally made a whole career out of wanting to help people, how could they do any wrong.” And “Why would you be scared of someone that spent years and years, went hundreds of thousands in debt, just to be able to help people?”

one thing I wish people understood about tumblr posts is that they are not confession booths. if you see a post calling attention to the fact some behaviour patterns may actually be racist or misogynistic or transphobic or anything else you don't actually have to go into op's replies or tags to tell them You Personally have this patterns for detailed unproblematic reasons. I can't speak for the op of every post obviously but the point is likely to make people look at themselves critically and think about why they do the things they do. and if you're capable of introspection and understand that a post does not apply to you, the correct thing is to move on. you are just not its target audience

On the topic of fetish gear in public I think it is very telling when parents who are against it say "well how am I supposed to explain it to my kids??" Because it shows they aren't actually concerned about any psychological effects it will have on their kids (probably because they know seeing a guy in a pup mask will not lead to any negative psychological effects on any child because that's dumb), what they are concerned about is THEMSELVES. How am *I* going to explain that to my child (if they even ask). THEY don't want to have to have uncomfortable conversations with their kids, and they think it should be other people's responsibility to make sure they won't have to. But that's stupid! Uncomfortable conversations are part of parenting. And if you really don't want to explain it to your kid just lie. Say "oh they're just dressing up for fun honey". That isn't actually really a lie anyways. "But what if they keep asking???" I don't know man you're the parent! Figuring out what to say is your job! What do you do any other time your kid keeps asking questions you don't know the answer to/don't want to answer? Do what you do then. Either way not anyone else's responsibility

What do you find most annoying about yt people and yt queers?

That if they don't start actively practicing antiracism, it's going to kill us all, themselves included. But temporary comfort for the few the many seems to mean far more than temporary discomfort of a few for the benefit of all.

The trolley problem seems to be the favorite go to argument for everyone until it's time to be the "victims" (which they still wouldn't be, because loss of privilege is not a loss of rights).

See: the person who just reblogged my post thinking that Black and brown women and their medical torture under white supremacy were acceptable collateral for the medical treatment and gynecology of the future. I'm sure if you were the ones under the knife, vaginas cut open, silver staple sutures, no anesthesia, up to thirty times for someone else's benefit (not yours because you're not human) you might reconsider why your life and your lack of consent was considered the cost.

I'm tired of seeing people share pictures of Lupita when she was playing Patsey and talking about her role in The Odyssey.

It's extremely telling that they choose to do this, that they take her (groundbreaking and heartbreaking) depiction of a real life victim of enslavement, physical and sexual abuse, and shove it up as "oh you're telling me THIS is a beautiful woman?"

Not any of her beautiful modelling photos, not any other role she's been in. But one where she's being whipped.

What they're telling us is "this is all you deserve to play. This is what you get to be seen as. You being a slave, you being abused, is what's "accurate" for a Black woman. You don't get to be seen as valuable. You don't get to be beautiful, and certainly not the most beautiful woman in the world, not in MY world."

As if we haven't been on this planet the whole time, in every sort of role there is. As if the only thing that has ever been relevant about us is our abuse, that that is the imagery that defines us. And these people will swear that "they're not racist, it's just-", and get mad when you look their racism right in the eyeballs.

I need these people to kick the sharpest of rocks. Actually, something more violent would suffice.

And it's really wild because it exposes who thinks they're the ones being pointed out. Because I've never in my life felt the need to defend someone's right to be racist to someone else. Like... Who are y'all fighting for? Who is this imaginary other group that Needs To Be Protected, so badly, that racism just Has To Happen? That it just Can't Be Responded To? And why do y'all always think that We have to be the sacrifice for that?

What CAN I ask you to do? If I can't ask you to kick bigots out your spaces, if I can't ask you to ask questions or hold peers accountable, if I can't ask you to read books or self reflect or give up the occasional form of entertainment... What can I ask of you? How are you gonna help me? Why should I trust you have my best interest in mind when you aren't willing to do ANYTHING that suggests allyship?
