“Lose Your Mind” channels pure garage rock mayhem.
I love the pounding drums, catchy melody, and Sky Saxon’s frenzied vocals.
🎧 “Talk Talk” – The Music Machine (1966)
This proto-punk garage classic delivers 1 minute 56 seconds of pure, snarling energy. Fuzzed-out guitar riffs and gritty vocals make it an essential for any garage rock lover. It’s raw, it’s electrifying, and it still hits hard today. 🔥🎸
🖤 Spinning this 45 on repeat.
🎶 Listen to “Talk Talk” and more fuzz-soaked gems on my Fuzz & Farfisa Essentials playlist over on Ko-Fi.

🌀 A raw garage rock classic: two chords, a hypnotic organ, and a voice pushing back against the pressures of conformity. Sky Saxon’s lyrics capture the spirit of rebellion and personal freedom, written while waiting for his girlfriend at a supermarket.

Les Fleur de Lys, 1967
Les Fleur de Lys have been crowned with inventing the genre of Rock n’ Roll known as “Freakbeat” & unfortunately, they seem to be criminally unknown. They released a string of singles on Andrew Loog-Oldham’s Immediate Records that seemed to never hit top of the charts. Their cover of the Pete Townshend penned psychedelic rocker “Circles (Instant Party)” absolutely crushes the original. (I’m sure even Pete would agree.) Funnily enough produced by Shel Talmy, who produced The Who’s earliest hits.
