The question he posed was almost laughable. “Doesn’t everyone?” she asked curiously. Perhaps Violet drank too much of it, but she enjoyed it. Expensive wine was always a treat and she knew she was worth it, so why not indulge? “I mean, I enjoy it as much as the next person.” Everyone did though, so she wasn’t sure how unique that made her or how it would trigger something in his mind. It was just wine, after all.
His mother would have probably reacted way more sensitively to that answer than Vittorio himself. But she was third generation winemaker and it was the one thing she was good at, the one thing she found pride in, so perhaps in her point of view, she would have been right; Rio, on the other hand, always had his mind split between two things - wine and law and even though security had very little to do with the latter it was still something more forceful than the tranquility of something as bizarre as wine-making. “If you ask my mother, there are two types of people, who like wine - the first simply need it, the second know how to truly enjoy it.” He said, eyeing her as if he tried to decide which category she fit in better. “So perhaps it’s not as equal as it seems.”
