anyway kayne should play violin. okay a violin might be more sensitive to blood but you have so many more options for tone, like should it sound nice, or like you're going to end the world in madness, or just a very painful devilish screeching? it can do all of those! also a violin is just the prettiest instrument ever it's literally THE dramatic instrument in visuals AND sound! also have you ever tried to hold a bow. that'll drive anyone to try and rewrite literally everything. what more could you possibly want???

malevolent au in which instead of playing "the wager" in 52 Kayne gets out a violin and starts playing Devil's part in "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." Instead of the ourthurchestra we get the other Arthurs playing backup to Kayne's fiddle solo. Yes, this means that John does also play the fiddle. No i'm not explaining how that works.

Okay okay- this is great however...

If Arthur's part is as complex as kaynes, his wooden pinkey is gonna be a bit of an issue.

If john controls the hand fully, not leaving it fully to arthur- this means that his eyesight wouldn't be much of an issue as long as he knows up bows vs down.

Just remembered the whiplash I got from Harlan saying “timpanies” so here’s a little rant about it

Timpani is technically already a plural word. Even though it can be used for just a singular drum (ex. can you move the 29 inch timpani to the left?), the correct word for a singular timpani drum is technically timpano. Even if the orchestral setting that Kayne was in had multiple timpani players, they would probably just be called “timpani.”

Ok rant done I just remember my head WHIPPING to my phone when he said that, and I had to do a little psa for all my non music folks!

Okay well I refer to the drums as timpani if there are multiple, however- players get an s on the end.

there was a few times where kayne would make us hold a fermata for minutes at a time and without warning cut us off- if ANYONE held their notes even a tenth if a millisecond longer he… well. spectacularly gave them a finale.
