July VIPDOTMC - Back in the Saddle at Rusty’s Southern.
July VIPDOTMC - Back in the Saddle again!
Ladies and Gents,
The time has come to get this shit started again...and by shit I mean dining club.
When: Thursday 7/28/16, 8:00 pm
Where: Rusty's Southern, 750 Ellis Street (between Polk and Larkin)
Zagat says:
"True Southern food" by way of California is the draw at this Tenderloin eatery serving "flavorful" dishes like Carolina-style barbecue and "crisp, tender" fried chicken, along with a local-leaning craft-beer list; a "super helpful" staff delivers "a lot for the money" in the narrow, contemporary-cool space featuring bright murals, a playful bar design and communal high-top seating.
Michelin guide says:
"In the hard-charging techie wilds of San Francisco, homesick transplants can find Southern comfort at this Tenderloin newbie, which eschews fine-dining frills for rib-sticking simplicity. Its environs are a bit sketchy after dark, but that doesn't deter the young and stylish crowds, who swill craft beers at the front bar and congregate in groups in the casual, wood-accented dining room. Rustic and homey treats arrive in abundant portions: tangy, smoky Brunswick stew is loaded with pork, chicken, collards, lima beans and tomatoes, while expertly brined fried chicken is encased in a crunchy, golden-brown breading. For a snack, the fluffy fried hush puppies come equipped with a decadent pimento-ranch dipping sauce, and pair nicely with an icy sweet tea."

February VIPDOTMC - An Island Style Anniversary
February 12, 2012 we gathered our friends for a simple gathering filled with German beer and sausage. Three years have passed full of great meals, drinks and company and we haven't looked back.
Happy 3rd Anniversary my VIPDOTMC cohorts!!
Let's celebrate island style!
Guam may be a U.S. territory, but considering its location—closer to Papua New Guinea than Hawaii—you’ve probably never experienced much of its culture. Shawn Naputi (formerly of Salumeria, Foreign Cinema, and Incanto) is working to change that with Prubechu (Mission), our city’s first Chamorro restaurant. In the former Roxy’s Cafe, Prubechu employs a mostly Chamorro staff, plays traditional music, and serves dishes inspired by his homeland, including the signature motsiyas (pronounced “mot-see-jas”). A chicken forcemeat, similar to sausage, it’s made with pepper leaf, mint, and lemon, wrapped in a banana leaf and steamed in coconut milk. Naputi grinds coconut (a staple in Chamorro cuisine) on his family’s kamyo (pronounced “kamzu”), folds the milk into the sausage, then reduces some into a curd to use as sauce on top—labor intensive, to say the least. “It reminds me of how much work she put into it,” Naputi says of his grandmother’s time-consuming signature dish, which was normally reserved for holidays. “I wanted to embrace that.” - 7x7 February Eat + Drink 2015
When: Wednesday, February 18, 2015, 7:00 pm (NO LATE BIRDS ALLOWED THIS TIME!)

RECAP - December Fa, Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra. A VIPDOTMC Family Tradition
Some families sing Christmas carols while trimming the tree with popcorn garland.
Some families volunteer to help the homeless.
Some families bake cookies to put out for Santa on Christmas eve.
OUR family? We get drunk and hallucinate off of Chinese Whiskey Mai Tais and then stuff our faces with (usually) greasy Chinese food. In the name of tradition!
On a dark and mysterious night in San Francisco’s Chinatown the story begins.
LiPo!
The Chinese Whiskey kicks in.
The story continues and Bund Shanghai.
Soup Dumplings make everyone happy, even when they are more like a meatball than a broth filing.
Heather and Brian with their pork shank baby.
Ma Po Tofu was a little prettier in the Yelp pictures.
The Prez favorite dish of the night. Rice cakes with spinach and Chinese Ham.
Spicy noodles! Sadly they looked a little better than they were.
Lionhead meatballs. Grand and delicious!
And if the owner’s family isn't adorable I don’t know what is!
But something was still missing.....they needed another Son to feel complete. (The poor kids look nervous.)
And Trent lived happily ever after with his new Chinese parents.
Chinese Mai Tai’s and Banquets, a heartwarming Holiday tradition.
VIPDOTMC December Fa, Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra, Ra. A Family Tradition
There is no holiday tradition that warms my heart more than our annual VIPDOTMC Horriday Party in Chinatown.
We drink Chinese Mai Tai's with questionable ingredients...
Couples wear holiday sweaters...
We eat A LOT of Chinese food...
And we get distorted...
And more distorted...
And then we dance...
And we get low...
And then shit gets real and we twerk...
Trent and Nick twerkoff caught on tape!
SOOOOOO LET'S DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN! After all it's the Horridays!
What: Third Annual VIPDOTMC Horriday Party!
When: Wednesday, December 17, 2014, 7:00 p.m.
Where: Bund Shanghai Restaurant, 640 Jackson Street (between Kearny and Grant)
Menu Highlights: Xiao long bao (Soup Dumplings), soy braised pork belly, garlic sauteed pea shoots, red braised pork shank, Lion's head meatballs, Mongolian lamb strips, fried chicken wings with garlic, Shanghainese style sea bass steamed with salty cabbage, spicy soft ma po tofu, dan dan noodles, bok Choi with bean curd noodles, and crispy duck.
Dinner Pre-Game:
“Like an iron fist in a velvet glove, a Chinese Mai Tai from this Chinatown institution incorporates just enough pineapple juice to conceal the fact there must be three cocktails worth of rum and mysterious Chinese liquor in your glass”
Yes that’s right members. Li Po’s is happening again. Be ready for Chinese Mai-Tai’s!
5:30 pm - 6:55 pm, LiPo Lounge, 916 Grant (@ Washington)

November VIPDOTMC - The stuff Dining Clubs are made of.

Please join us for November's VIPDOTMC!

It's a party in the U...S...A!
Where better for a Grease reenactment but the streets of the Castro? Because that's what you do after Indian food?
VIPDOTMC October Recap: Giants, Beer, Mody Dick and Indian?
AND WE'RE BACK! VIPDOTMC - October dinner!
Your Pres is back in action with a dinner planned at Kasa Indian Eatery. Indian meets taqueria meets the Castro, what could possibly be more San Francisco than THAT???? I can't wait to see the rainbow sidewalks!
A simple menu prepared with local organic ingredients in a casual counter service environment for a reasonable price. Sold.
The selection features six to eight dishes a day that you can eat two ways - in a kati roll or a thali plate. Kati rolls (one for $4.95, two for $8.95, three for $11.95), a street snack from Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta), resemble an Indian-style burrito. The filling of your choice is wrapped in a roti, an Indian flatbread, along with marinated onions and chutney.
Fillings include many familiar Indian dishes, such as chicken tikka, chicken tikka masala and lamb curry. But it's the vegetarian specialties that are the most interesting, especially the Karahi paneer, Indian cheese that's wok-tossed with fresh green peppers and tomatoes; and aloo jeera, cumin-spiced potatoes. There is also a daily vegetarian special. AND they serve alcohol (beer and wine). WHEW!
Where: Kasa Indian Eatery, 4001 18th Street @ Noe
When: Wednesday, October 22, 2014, 7:00 p.m.
