How unfortunate that it mattered little to Rebecca what conflict Wesker might have felt...   Not now, all these years later with all new scars and all new everliving trauma thanks to him, thanks to his ambitions. She was hardly selfish enough for it to have even been about how she was affected. That conflict didn't mean anything to her with how it's left Chris, how it's shaped Jill after everything was said and done and still continues today. All of her friends. All because of that exact detail:   his goal mattered more than his emotions.

Rebecca sighs and she tries not to let her own emotions bleed over Zeno. Those were not his goals. These were not his emotions.

Even with her eyes on the ground between them, her attention had never left Gwen. She listened, and she was attentive. The only thing that stirs her is the soft rise and fall of her chest and shoulders as she sighs, slow and quiet, thoughtful.

She's out of breath and a little worse for wear, but she's made it back indeed. There's even a relief under the fatigue in her eyes. Like August saying it made it true rather than the actuality of her there in front of him again.

       ❝ Didn't want to keep you waiting  too  long, ❞   she muses lightly, smile dimpling her cheeks in just a touch. She hauls the duffel bag she had further up her shoulder, nodding to it for him.   ❝ Brought everything I could find.   - Couldn't come back empty handed. ❞   Food, first aid, a handful of new clothes, and even a little sewing kit she found were all squeezed into the bag, enough to keep them going for another few weeks at least. It was well worth the exhaustion.

Rebecca's already tucking the blanket up around him a little more, like she's trying to ease his worries that way before saying a single thing. A little shake of her head and she offers him a tired but warm smile.

       ❝ It's alright. I get them a lot, too. ❞   She's glad it hasn't happened lately;   she doesn't know the way the guilt would eat her if he had to hear her scream like that. A little tug of his collar back up in the right place, a little pinch at his earlobe, and she brightens her smile.   ❝ Think you can sleep again?   - Would talking about the dream help? ❞

Aromatic coffee clings to her like a stubborn perfume, and by the smell of the rest of the room, she still had more brewing. A nod towards the kitchen and she leads Cass in.   ❝ What happened? ❞
