the growing tension between virgil and patton is so painful, cause like. patton was so welcoming to virgil, so of course he would become more open minded to the dark sides and become welcoming to them more quickly. especially after seeing the progress virgil has made. however, virgil knows things patton doesn't and very clearly has an unstable relationship with the others, so seeing someone he's super attached to suddenly be friendly with someone that he's not on good terms with at all must really really hurt. (also because virgil doesn't seem like he wants to talk about the real issues he has, making it even harder for patton to understand.)
