First batch of scans from the Cesare artbook 8D (scuse le crappy quality my scanner runs on effing coal) I HIGHLY recommend it to any fan- it’s completely and utterly gorgeous- and gives you a comprehensive history of not only the events in the manga, but of Christianity, costume, even Renaissance food *squeal*
If you type in ‘チェーザレ・ボルジアを知っていますか? [単行本(ソフトカバー' on Amazon.co.jp it should take you right to it…the book itself is only 1900 yen but the postage is immense D: I was lucky cos I picked this up in a Japanese bookshop when I was arsing around in Tokyo waiting for my bestie to finish in the adjacent Pachinko parlour’s toilette classy of us
I’m working on scanning the yummier bits of volume’s 8-10 as well so if anybody has any specific requests, holla~
Batch #2 || Batch #3 || Batch #4 || Batch #5 ||
Thank you so much for sharing these, @procrastoceptiongent!
If anyone’s interested, the Cesare artbook is still available in several japanese online stores, including Amazon.
Alright, so I was re-reading Cesare once more, when I took a closer look to this. It’s from the third book, chapter 22 in which Angelo is reading the students’s record. The writing is very small, however I was able to read : “MCCCCLXXV” and “Martius”.
I can only presume this is Angelo’s birthday, so March 1475. But I wasn’t able to read more so I’m not quite sure if the rest of the text reveals much (at least, concerning the date since it’s almost impossible to read all of this!).
I am not quite sure if the author revealed anything about it, but I think we can say Angelo was born on March, in 1475 (correct me if I’m wrong)!
I swear, this panel looks like BBC Sherlock in 15th century Italy.
Pensiamo alle cose importanti, per favore.

List of Beautifully Drawn Manga ~ 2. Cesare by Hara Motoaki & Souryo Fuyumi “Bookish and naive, Angelo da Canossa is unprepared for life as a student in a university that hums with tension and intrigue in Renaissance Italy. Will his innocence remain intact when a chance encounter with the charismatic Cesare draws him ever deeper into the darker side of the Renaissance?”
