If you think about it, Back to the Future is the anti-Oedipus Rex. Marty tries to save his father's life, then goes to great lengths not to fuck his mother.
"Tell me what I can do to make you stay. What I can say, so you won't leave. I need to know how I can fix this!"
Julius and Asterix
a little short but i think its sweet!
Asterix stares in disbelief at Julius. The idiot is trying to sneak out after being saved from a failed assassination attempt. Trying to sneak back out to the very people that attempted to drive a knife into the soft squishy flesh of his gut.
Julius tries to shake off his hand. Asterix simply tightens his grip. He is used to holding onto wild boar. Julius is far easier and much less wriggly.
“Let me go. I am healed. I need to leave.”
The man seems to be attempting for an authoritative voice. Asterix recognizes it from hearing the man speak to crowds. It is not the voice the man has been using for the last few days while recovering in Asterix’s hut. It is offensive to everything that Asterix had thought they had been building. Asterix hurts as he speaks.
"Tell me what I can do to make you stay. What I can say, so you won't leave. I need to know how I can fix this!"
He cannot simply let Julius go off to his own doom. Not alone. Not when a few more days of healing could keep him safe and give Asterix the chance to plot and plan.
“There is nothing you can say. Let go.”
Asterix winces at the sheer coldness in the man's voice. But he keeps holding. He had seen the fear in Julius’ eyes when the man had been stumbling in the woods, hurt already. He won't. Can't.
“I won't. Im going to fix this.”
Asterix says, keeping his voice calm. He tugs gently.
“Come back. Your empire is okay. It will be. I promise. Please. Well, make this all right. Just… come back and rest.”
Asterix requests, shifting to grab Julius’ other arm.
“... Asterix.”
There. There is a tone that Julius had started using with Asterix while Asterix helped him over the last week. Asterix leans forward.
“Just… a few more days. So that you're strong. And we know what we will be doing. And the messages you sent have time.”
“I am not a man of waiting about.”
Julius murmurs, even as he lets Asterix tug him back slowly.
“It's not waiting about. It's giving time for preparation. Its planing. Strategy. You love strategy, Jules.”
Asterix coaxes, stepping backwards, keeping his eyes on Julius’ face. Julius relaxes a little more and walks a little more easily with Asterix. Asterix loosens his grip slightly.
“I do love it.”
Julius hums out and Asterix smiles, feeling victorious. He guides Julius back to his hut and makes sure he gets the medicines that he needs before tucking Julius away. He breathes a sigh of relief. Obelix shifts and sits up in his bed.
“You got him back?”
“Yep. Hes good to stay for a few days.”
He yawns in the middle of his sentence, exhausted. The sun hasnt crested the horizon yet. Obelix scoops Asterix up and tucks him in beside himself. Asterix curls up into his best friend and falls asleep, knowing he’ll need rest to deal with Julius tomorrow.
