I am incredibly disappointed and sad about them gender swapping Michael Stirling and I LOVE sapphic romances. Michael was my fav guy in the Bridgerton books and it was my fav book. Francesca’s season was the one I was most looking forward too.

I dunno I’m just a bit sad.

And like Michael was the one who was supposed to be completely STARSTRUCK meeting Francesca but instead Francesca was the one stuttering. She’s not supposed to fall in love with them until later.

The only positive thing to come out of this for me is that they can't ruin Michael with their shitty writing if they don't have him in the show.

Imma go ahead and say it: there's nothing homophobic about not liking what they did to michael's character!!!!!

It's just sad for us book readers, who have read about Francesca, and Michael, plus adored their dynamic to see how they butchered him, and basically robbed Francesca of her storyline and wish which was "wanting a child and the desire to be a mother."

I have no issues with them casting poc as actors/actresses instead of keeping the canonically white folk as they were. My issue is just how they turned a canonically male character into female for no apparent reason, by all means I would have clapped and cheered if they cast a poc actor as Michael because that wouldn't really affect anything regarding him and Francesca's story, as we see with Simon and Daphne.

And If they wanted inclusivity why not just make new characters, and give them plots of their own instead of messing with og characters, and their stories?

Did you see the Jess Brownell interview in Glamour where her answer to Michael fans is basically ‘you’ve still got the book’? I saw someone compare that answer to what a 12 year old troll would say on X and, well, I can’t think of a better description.

First of all I will never forgive Julia for letting down book fans like this!

Also jess brownell ruined bridgerton for me. There is not a single thing I liked in season 3. She managed to ruin polin, sent kanthony to India and I'm pretty sure we won’t see then again and then there is benedict (idk what that man is doing).

Asking for the book couple is like asking for the bare minimum and they decided to gender swap the best man in the book series. That doesn't even make sense. They could have brought in any number of gay side characters but still they chose to ruin one of the best bridgerton couple.

This completely ruined my interest in the show. I don't know if I'd watch any further.

(May be i might watch Benedict's season idk but with the reviews season 3 is getting i hope they cancel the show before Francesca's season. Just a wishful thinking of a frustrated franchael fan)

They actually took the BEST male love interest in all of the Bridgerton universe and made him into a woman destroying both his and Francesca's characters and arcs going forward.... Like I'm sorry but the gender roles Michael and Francesca have are integral to their story... The infertility, Michael inheriting all of John's estate and title.....

One of my fav parts in When He Was Wicked:

“If I want to tie you to the bed, and keep you there until you’re heavy with child, I’ll do it,” he vowed.

“Yes,” she gasped.

“And you won’t complain.” She shook her head.

His fingers tugged at her gown. It fell to the floor with stunning speed. “And you’ll like it,” he growled.

“Yes. Oh, yes.”

He moved her to the bed. He wasn’t gentle or smooth, but she didn’t seem to want that, and he fell upon her like a starving man. “You will be mine,” he said again, grasping her bottom and pulling her toward him. “Mine.”

And she was. For that night, at least, she was.

Michael Stirling you will always be famous. You will be missed. I will always love you and your possessive freak nature when it came to our beloved Francesca Bridgerton.

This man was everything.

The guilt he had. The love he had. Everything.
