Her arm was all gooseflesh, clammy and chilled, but she was strong, and gentler than he would have thought. Gentler than Cersei, he thought as she helped him from the tub...
Diagrams from The Barber's Manual, A. B. Moler (1931)
#jaime can't conceive of a relationship with anyone but cersei in asos #he knows brienne is more willing to perform caregiving tasks in his illness to fulfill an oath to catelyn #than cersei would be willing to perform out of love #that conversation with cersei fascinates me bc they both know he can't shave himself anymore #he /has/ to order someone to do it for him but refuses to do so #it's about power and submission *and* disability via @fortunate-hal
I suspected this would happen since we saw Antinoos in Penelopes bedchamber in the trailer.
I genuinely hate Christopher Nolan. He is the most unwhismical, seemingly arrogant and a hack of a director who so happens to make money. I don’t like his Batman movies and I hate how he is so against color in films and how he allegedly cut out all the mythology stuff from The Odyssey. It’s literally an epic fictional story, you idiot!
Christopher Nolan is the personification of USAmerican propaganda and delusion.
There is simply no other justification for how a person could write about Oppenheimer and reduce the main victims to a statistic and erasing all the other victims (of which there where a lot).
Not to mention writing a story of Greek culture and removing everything Greek.
I think Nolan’s Odyssey is yet another example of why color blind casting is a bad idea and how it can straight up circle back to being racist. Like Nolan casts a black Helen, then has her getting her face scarred by her white husband as punishment (mind you NONE of this happens in mythology), is that not insane? Is that not racist?
Same energy with retellings that make Andromeda black only to make Perseus an abuser, yet that same retelling would still get praised for its racial representation.
I get annoyed when people downplay Helen's beauty, actually. I've seen people saying the double casting for Helen and Clytemnestra in that movie makes it so much more interesting, when it... really doesn't feel like it. You cannot strip Helen's divine beauty when it is the sole catalyst for everything that has happened to her. You cannot say "oh Helen wasn't actually beautiful, she was just —" because it simply isn't that. Helen was the most beautiful. Helen suffered for being the most beautiful. Trying to basically erase that is erasing a major part of Helen's character. And no you cannot replace her either, you cannot say "oh x person was actually just as beautiful as her, but she —" because Helen. Was. The. Most. Beautiful. It is integral to her character that she was the most beautiful. However, her being the most beautiful does not mean other women were not beautiful either, which is what some of you cannot seem to understand, and that too is also incredibly odd. Penelope does not need to be as beautiful as Helen to be beautiful. Clytemenstra does not need to be as beautiful as Helen to be beautiful. The way you all seem to subconsciously think other women are immediately unattractive simply because they are not as attractive as an outlier is odd.
Y’all cannot be deadass, do you genuinely believe Nolan, a white man, was intentionally making social commentary with Helen’s race? Do you genuinely believe this story of a Greek character being recast as a black woman only to be rewritten to get abused by her white husband was actually good writing? Do you genuinely believe that Menelaus fetishizing Helen’s skin color and scarring her face to humiliate her is good reinterpretation of Helen and her relationship to Menelaus?
Mediocre white men can really get away with anything huh?
*holds your shoulders derangedly* is it too much to ask to characterize Menelaus right
omg it's the terrible goblin himself

Little house on the prairie season 1: Laura tries changing her personality to impress a boy, but learns people should like her for who she is :)
Season 8: the young boy the Ingalls adopted after he saw his parents get smashed in a wagon accident is completely paralyzed after being shot in a bank robbery. Pa sets out to track down the robbers, seeking bloody revenge. Cheerful music plays over the same end credits footage since s1 of Laura skipping playfully down a hill :)
