The argument that the Targaryens don’t like Visenya because they aren’t descended from her is bull.

Stannis thinks Rhaenyra is a usurper and Aegon II was the rightful heir even though he wouldn’t freaking exist without her.

If Jaehaerys & Alysanne’s grandson and great-granddaughter are fans of her, the idea Targaryens down the line even further removed from her would hate her is wild.

The idea certain Targs don’t like her because of misogyny however…

something about visenya targaryen "being as comfortable in chainmail as in silk", being a dragonrider, swordswoman and witch, wielding dark sister and riding the she-dragon vhagar, wife to both aegon and rhaenys...

her character defies gendered fantasy conceptions about the warrior archetype, by not only occupying the position of a fighter in the story but interweaving it with certain attributes commonly associated with female roles such as the mother, the lover and the witch.

in the classical hero's journey, the male hero is faced with women in these positions who either award him with comfort/sexual gratification or seek to stall his progress. women are therefore used to benefit or sidelined to make way for the male protagonist's development.

meanwhile in asoiaf, visenya is the oldest of the conqueror trio and the one who lives the longest. while aegon is (intentionally to preserve secrecy in the narrative) a more obscure figure, visenya is put at the forefront as the one who sees on to their legacy to the very end.

you can love a character and still admit when they are wrong. i love visenya but i acknowledge her flaws (none. she is perfect) and can hold her accountable for her wrong doings (she has never done anything wrong in her life) and call her out on her actions (which are always right)

In my Orys x Visenya feels again so here's some headcanons I came up with(both together and individual):

💙Orys is older than Visenya by a year. He's actually the oldest out of all of Aerion's children.

💜Visenya is like the Rhaenys to Orys' Aegon. I think of Orys as very similar to Rhaenys when it comes to personalities (more extroverted, playful, etc.) Its also why he and Aegon meshed so well.

💙Visenya and Orys would ride on Vhagar together. He would also ride Meraxes and Balerion with Rhaenys and Aegon (respectively).

💜Orys would bring Visenya purple and black orchids when he could. (Idk if there's orchids on Dragonstone but I'm just gonna pretend there are. 🤷🏾)

💙Everyone knew they loved each other before they did. Like they were completely clueless about the others feelings.

💜While Orys has been on dragonback, he prefers the sea. It's not to the point where you would think he was Velaryon, but if he had to choose its 🚣‍♂️.

💙Visenya prefers Vhagar (obviously) , but she did sail with Orys a few times.

💜Visenya and Orys can both dance and sing. Not on a legendary level but they can do a little routine. They dont do it often though. They used to sing to Aegon and Rhaenys when they were all children.

💙Visenya's favorite color is purple. Orys' favorite color is blue.

I think twitter trolls and black stans are forgetting that Vhagar was Visenya`s mount and Visenya was ruthless lmao. At least Aemond isn't as ruthless and bloodthirsty as Visenya.

fire and blood specifically says that aenys’ (visenya’s nephew) health actually increased under her care. it only rapidly declined again after he foudn out both his kids were being seiged and he later died from the stress.

and mind you understanding visenya under the guise of “evil witch queen” is one of the most basic and unnuanced takes on her character. you dont even need to look into fire and blood that deep to see that.

and about luke’s death ………  like rlly why wouldnt she care? she definitely wouldnt have sided with the greens ( visenya would burn alicent and her sons  for being a hightower the movement she step foot in the castle ), especially if you think everuthing she did was for legacy or pride..visenya would have been furious over luke’s death.

and idk why y’all so adamant to say she wouldnt care about luke. he poses no threat to her nor does she gain anything from him dying. his death does nothing but hurt house targaryen. to say she wouldnt care or wouldnt of loved him is based off of nothing

STUPID PEOPLE ............. NOBODY MOEVE GIRL GROW UP ?? lol even  wasnt a mysterious death tho…his health improves under visenya’s direct care until the stress of the endagerment of his kids sends him into a mental break down and he dies a few days later. 

aenys was 35 with the face of a 65 year old the man was not well and hadnt been for years. his health was at its peak under visenya’s care and after he disagreed with her. it only plummeted at the news of his kids.
