My fears about a Timeless movie

They’re gonna force Ly@ because they don’t have time to develop Garcy

Saving Rufus is gonna be done too quickly and easily/it won’t be given the attention it deserves

Jessica is going to become a plot device for romantic tension because they won’t have time for a redemption arc

Any closure about Amy/Lorena and Iris is going to be glossed over and not given proper attention

Giving Flynn the journal is going to be barely touched on/the journal is going to be mostly ignored

Taking down Rittenhouse is going to be a hack job/way too easy because they don’t have time to do it systematically and strategically

They’re gonna make Garcia do the “ill sacrifice my life for the greater good” thing to tie up loose ends instead of giving him the completed redemption arc he deserves

Basically my biggest fear is that a Timeless movie is going to be slapdash and unfulfilling because there’s too much left to do and only 2 hours to do it.

All I can hope is that the writers buckle down and give us closure on things without taking shortcuts and compromising the story. ~Shawn Ryan pull through for us~

Why didn’t we have any historical people in this trash finale? I know Arika already tried to answer that by saying she wanted to show Lucy’s growth as a character in that everyone in history is worth saving, not just historical people …… but that was kind of what drew me to this show in the first place?

Think about it - we could have really gone out with a bang. Brought in Tesla! Amelia Earhart! All the figures we’ve been begging for for months, but noooo. Every single fucking thing had to be sidelined for Ly@. God, I’m so disappointed.

And like, all that “growth” Lucy had was immediately flushed down the toilet as soon as she was faced with saving people she actually knew and cared about??  Like sure, save a pregnant woman during the Korean war because it’s “the right thing to do” but then shrug your shoulders when you’re faced with saving your sister who was collateral damage as a result of your time travel antics?  And of course, fuck Flynn, who literally died fixing a problem that wasn’t his to fix. And based on his letter to Lucy, it’s safe to say that part of him at least had the intention of coming back (“If you’re reading this I guess that means I didn’t make it back.”). But I guess saving Amy and Flynn would have fucked up Arika’s genius plan to simply name the L/yatt twins after them.

I just think Arika has a really limited way of thinking. She doesn’t follow a thought through to the end; it’s very prevalent on every plot point people have critiqued and she’s had to defend herself on. Her defenses fall short and aren’t thought through at all. She didn’t think ANY of this through. The argument “everyone’s important” is obviously hypocritical, as you’ve pointed out. Clearly not EVERYONE is important if it, in any way, can effect the White Bread happy ending you’ve built up for yourself.

You know what I would have LOVED to see? Them really needing warriors on their side against the Rittenhouse war so they displace historical figures temporarily to help the cause. I’m talking scooping Bonnie and Clyde and Ian Fleming out of their timelines for their gun fighting skills. I’m talking bringing Houdini on to help them break into Rittenhouse HQ. Tesla invents something to thwart Rittenhouse technology entirely. How AWESOME would that have been?? That is the showdown I was waiting for, god damn it. But instead we got empty fluff. We got cotton candy nothingness. I’m so enraged, this would have been a way more interesting finale with literally anyone else writing it.

TESLA BUILDING HIS DEATH RAY TO TAKE DOWN RH IS SOMETHING I WOULD HAVE PAID TO SEE OH MY GOD!!!!  We were so cheated when they chose her to write the finale, and I honestly don’t know why she was picked over other writers in the first place?? Her episodes overall weren’t as good as those written by say, Anslem Richardson. I understand if scheduling regarding other projects the writers my have been working on got in the way, but my big question is why Shawn and Eric didn’t seem to be all that involved in the conclusion of their own show? They basically let Arika run rampant and only really gave a bit of input.  If my show was cancelled and I had to write a two hour wrap up movie, I’d be doing that shit myself.  I wouldn’t be letting one of my writers who wrote some of the weakest episodes of the entire show head the entire thing.  That was just a poor judgment call on their part.  I think they should have been more involved, although I’m not sure how much it would have helped given that Shawn seems to have agreed with everything Arika did based on his interviews…

Garcia Flynn, upon realizing the errors of his ways and the pain he inflicted on others, goes to great lengths to help save history, apologizes, and acknowledges that the crimes he committed can not be undone. He sacrifices himself in order to protect everyone else- including those who still hated him. He lost everything in his life and still managed to find the strength to save others.

Ugh I’m so fucking mad that I can’t get over Garcia Flynn’s death .

I can’t get over the fact that Lucy led him to his death (“yOu’rE a hErO I pRomIsE”).

I can’t get over the fact that they did nothing to try and bring him back.

I can’t get over the fact that he killed himself without any REASON.

I can’t get over the fact that they cut the scene of Lucy grieving his death instead of cutting an UNNECESSARY lyatt scene (and there was plenty of those).

I can’t get over the fact that Lucy gave up on saving Amy.

I can’t get over the fact that Lucy went to Wyatt when she had said that she didn’t want to be anybody’s second choice (she did say that right? I didn’t imagine it?).

I can’t get over the fact that Lucy went from saying “You don’t know anything about my type”, with a little flirty smile towards Garcia Flynn, to kissing Wyatt and saying that she loves him.

I just CAN’T get over how the writers screwed the final so badly that many fans are pretending it never happened .

I just…can’t .

Anslem: we’re gonna pretend the movie was an alternate timeline… or a fever dream… or some lyatt fanfic… and, Its only fair- we have to kill Wyatt off this season…

Laurika: (stands up) No! If we kill wyatt, I quit!

ERIC KRIPKE and SEAN RYAN walk in the room…

Ryan: Hey, uh, do you want me to hold the door open for you?

Laurika storms off- in a huff.

OTHER WRITER: are we really killing Wyatt off?

Anslem: Did I say Wyatt? Oh heavens no- I meant Lyatt… we’re killing Lyatt… Wyatt has to stay… otherwise, who else would Flynn yell at?

Ryan unzips his black hoodie to reveal a burgundy tee that reads #garciaflynndeservesbetter.

Ryan: Let’s sink that ship.

You know what pisses me off most about the timeless "finale" (which I will be steadfastly ignoring as canon) is that they said they were going to leave it open ended. They promised that it would leave off at a point where a season three could progress from the end. And they didn't. They closed off everything, gave L*att kids, killed Garcia and his family permanently, killed Amy permanently, gave us a montage of where everyone ended up. That's not leaving it open ended. Where can we progress from here? They finished the damn story, terribly and selfishly at that, but it's finished. They could have let neither ship be canon, could have given both ships moments, could have focused more on saving Rufus and Riya, could have still kept Jessica pregnant and her and Wyatt separated (I love you and our baby but we don't belong together), could have ended the episode with them killing Emma and about to go after the rest of RH, could have done a proper Sao Paolo that wasn't actually nauseating and morally disgusting on all levels, and in general could have, you know, could have let Flynn show up alive for like TWO SECONDS at Sao Paolo (Goran didn't have enough filming time my ass, you could have worked around that without killing off his character), NOT SHOWN US ANYTHING ABOUT THE FUTURE AFTER THAT POINT etc. etc. etc. but instead? Whatever shit that was. They lied to us repeatedly, strung along the Garcy fans for the views, and didn't care enough to actually write a proper episode for some of the most dedicated fans on the planet (for better or worse) who have pulled tooth and nail to save this show. Fuck Arika, fuck NBC, and fuck that finale.

Since I am still bitter about a certain finale that may or may not have aired a couple nights ago, I feel like I need this scream this into the void: If there was anyone who didn’t “deserve” a happy ending, it was Wyatt. Not because he was bad or because he killed people but because he didn’t earn one. This boy only said he “wanted to make things right" and all his sins were absolved!?!? He never took any action to make things right. He never actually made the choice to give up Jessica. He SAID he did, but he didn’t actually DO anything. If he really wanted to fix the mistakes HE made that got Rufus killed, HE would have been the one to take off in the middle of the night instead of Flynn. Or, once he realized what Flynn did to clean up after his mess, he would have tried to go back for Flynn. But why would he do that when all his problems were magically solved? Flynn was gone. So was Jessica. The best part for Wyatt was that he got to say he gave up Jessica for the good of the world (since the writers decided everything bad that happened hinged on Jessica being alive *eye roll*) but he never did. FLYNN DID. Flynn saved the world. Wyatt didn’t do shit yet he got to reap all the rewards and then had the nerve to say “Flynn would be proud of us”.  Garcia Flynn EARNED a happy ending while Wyatt fell ass backwards into one.
