Derek Myers and His Daily Dose Of Miniature Art

Derek Myers is a proactive artist, his latest project involving sketching out a drawing a day for one year, using a felt pen. The creative series features beautiful natural landscape which are framed by geometric patterns and designs. By utilizing the paper as a texture to create the rough natural element such as snow or stone, the detailed scenes of the wild become tamed and restrained within the symmetrical framework of lines and shapes. His compositions are reminiscent old tattoo work, with their monochrome tint and depth of meaning.

Bipolar Disorder

There’s a lot of confusion of what Bipolar Disorder is so I’m going to give you basic info of what it IS and ISN’T

Bipolar Disorder IS NOT:

-purely being happy or sad -feeling mixed emotions only once or twice -sometimes getting “hyper” randomly -a multiple personality disorder -something that should be joked about -something considered “freaky” -a one-time mood shift during the day -getting angry and then sad

Bipolar Disorder IS:

-constantly having mood shifts without reasoning behind them -moving between self-hatred and self-confidence -suicidal thoughts and actions -continuously wanting to die -hating someone and then loving someone in random outbursts -horrible fits of anger and then depression -hypomanic episodes that drain you of energy -hypomanic episodes that cause you to do risky things -depression one minute and hypomania the next

Listen, Bipolar Disorder should be addressed. It’s not something to joke about and it needs to be treated. Don’t go statements like “omg lol I feel so bipolar because so and so got mad and I suddenly got sad!!” That’s not how it works. And also don’t treat us like freaks. We aren’t. We’re just as valid as everyone else.

Please just validate us. That’s all we want.
