Reluctant Allies -- Sentence Starters
âAs much as I hate your guts, weâll die here if we donât work together.â
âLetâs put our differences aside for now. There are bigger issues at hand.â
âWhy must I stoop so low as to cooperate with the likes of you?â
âLooks like thereâs someone else I hate more than you. Go figure.â
âAlright⊠Iâll help you, just this once.â
âLetâs get one thing straight here: I donât like you.â
âThis is a one time deal only.â
âDonât get used to this. It wonât be happening again.â
âIâll kill you later, when our lives arenât in danger.â
âLook, we both want the same thing here.â
âHey, Iâm on your side this time!â
âItâs just a matter of overlooking our differences.â
âWhat do you say?⊠Truce?â
âGive it a break for once, this is more important!â
âIâll take the left, you take the rightâ No arguing.â
âStop yelling at me! Iâm only trying to help!â
âUgh! I hate having to work with you!â
âIâll be glad to be rid of you once this is all over.â
ââHateâ is a strong word⊠letâs settle for a âgreat disliking ofâ.â
âI donât want to do this as much as you do⊠but we have to.â
âIf you want to make it through this, youâre gonna have to trust me!â
âHow can I trust you when not only five minutes ago you were trying to kill me?!â
âI canât take your sass. Iâm calling this alliance off prematurely.â
âPlease, for once in your life, just listen to me! Weâre all in danger!â
âI donât like you, but this is for the greater good.â
âItâs either us or them, and quite frankly, I could kick your ass any day of the week.â
âAs much as Iâd hate to admit it, weâd be powerless on our own against them.â
âJust because Iâm helping you doesnât mean weâre friends.â
âDonât even think about calling me your friend. Weâre not. End of story.â
âJust this once, Iâll help⊠For a price.â
âIf Iâm going to team up with you, I want something worth while out of it.â
âI canât wait til this is over⊠Then we can go back to killing/hating each other.â
âIf weâre gonna do this, weâre gonna do this right, and I wonât let your petty grudge against me ruin it!â

All Yumichika wanted was some time to himself. Unfortunately, the 11th Squad had the brilliant idea to throw a spontaneous party, courtesy of the booze the Captain had brought in. So the fifth seat sneaked out to the gardens where none of his raucous squad members were likely to visit.
âAh, Captain Otoribashi. Itâs good to see you here.â
âMy apologies for intruding-â he inclined his head- âif you would like me to leave, I shall gladly do so.âÂ
âGood evening Fifth seatâ
Rose turned round, drawn out of thought by the sound of his name  drifting across the garden and disturbing the eveningâs peace. It wasnât altogether surprising to see this particular officer out here too, the party  was alreday quite loud and  clearly getting more raucous, the gardens, on the other hand, were silent and really quite beautiful in the moonlight. The blonde knew which he preferred.
He waved away the suggestion that Yumichika should leave, instead beckoning him over to where he stood.Â
âNo, itâs fine.I donât mind the company. What brings you out here?â
âTo find some peace and quiet, I suppose,â he said. âWe donât get much of that in Squad 11.â He thought back to the sight of his nearly naked friend challenging the captain to a fight. Much to Ikkaku's pleasure--and Yumichika's horror--Kenpachi had agreed.
"Honestly, you'd think they'd have grown up by now."
He glanced back up at Rose with an inquisitive blink. "And you, Captain? What brings you out here this evening?"
"Beauty is power; a smile is its sword."
âBut the soul that sees beauty may sometimes walk alone.â
bad idea starters.
âon a scale of one to ten⊠how illegal do you think doing this is?â
âokay, but, consider this: i donât care. iâm gonna do it.â
âthere are certain moments where i consider you someone with brilliant ideas and a good future. this is not one of those moments.â
âhow hard is it to do a wheelie on a motorcycle? how many feet can you go, doing a wheelie, without crashing?â
âitâs three in the morning and iâm bored and youâre the only one awake. letâs break into a gas station store.â
âWHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT FILL UP A âSUPER BIG GULPâ CUP WITH 5 HOUR ENERGY AND CHUG THE WHOLE THING. MY HEART HAS EITHER STOPPED COMPLETELY OR IS BEATING SO FAST THAT I CANâT FEEL MY OWN PULSE.â
âis it a bad idea to use mountain dew instead of milk in your cereal?â
âi heard if you suck up enough helium, your voice starts to sound really squeaky⊠wanna go buy some balloons?â
âcan you cook bacon with a hair straightener? asking for a friend.â
âyes, i did beat him up and i will not apologize.â
âcomplaining helps the situation, like, not at all.â
âsooooo, i kind of adopted a puppy.â

Yukio had been nearby when the whole thing unfolded. He wasnât too fond of helping out the shinigami. In fact, he was rather tempted to just walk away. But instead he approached the other with an annoyed sigh.Â
âRelax. Itâs not going to scar right away.â Yukio could probably just use his fullbring to heal the wound but decided against it. It would take too much effort. âI donât have anything to patch that up with so you can either wait here or come with me.â
âOr you could just heal me, save both our time.â He looked at the other tauntingly. âPerhaps youâre not as capable as youâd have us believe.â He knew he sounded petty, but a headache was starting to form behind his skull, and he couldnât bring himself to care about how the child viewed him.Â
Yumichika pinched at the bridge of his nose and stifled a sigh. âNever mind, apologies for my manners. I appreciate your offer, however, I am perfectly able to take care of it on my own.â He turned to leave, then blinked as the ground rippled underneath him.Â
Well that wasnât normal.
â€
Yumichika glared up at the young Fullbringer, clutching at the rather nasty looking hole in his side. A simple Hollow had gotten in a lucky hit, all because some little girl could see spirits and had decided to freeze right in front of itâs gigantic claws.
âWell you know, you could help instead of just standing around staring,â he snarled. He struggled to rise, unsteady on his feet. Examining the wound, he scowled. âIf this scars Iâm blaming you.â
He turned his glower to the small civilian child beside them. âAnd you, are you stupid? When you see something big and scary, you run.â She ran.Â

Our muses in a garden. (Hello! Welcome to the family.)
He had just found comfort in the quiet scenery of the flowers when an unwelcome presence entered the garden. Yumichika froze, then whipped around in alarm.
âWhoâs there?â he called, hand reaching surreptitiously for the hilt of his sword. His eyes flitted warily about until they landed on an approaching figure.Â
âOh, itâs you.â
