I like their creepy vibe
Rosie: Now, as I own your soul, I want you to wear this to symbolize my ownership of you, that you are beneath me, that you are nothing but my pet!
Alastor: This is one half of a best friends forever necklace

Anyway, no, sex repulsed aces do not have to disregard our own boundaries and be hyper-congratulatory about other people's sex lives or constantly be checking to make sure our repulsion doesn't make us bad allies to the rest of the community (a community which we aren't "allies" to in the first place — we fucking live here), just like butches don't have to be knights in shining armor/human shields for femmes and nonbinary people don't have to present as "man/woman aligned" unless that's what they've genuinely chosen.
Please stop holding other queer people to weird invented moral expectations that are explicitly meant as compensation for the ways in which their queerness doesn't meet your standards. It's rude.
I think people should ship things platonically more, and not in a “why can’t they just be friends 😡😡” way, I’m just very aroace and I think fandoms tend to push aside platonic relationships in favor of romantic/sexual ones a lot. I’m not surprised by this, it happens in real life too, but yk I just think it’d be nice to see platonic relationships be explored more in fandom spaces.
I do genuinely believe that a lot of platonic ships can be more interesting then romantic/sexual ones and this is my truth
I always wonder how many people would be ace and/or aro if they were aware that was a thing you can be
“Aros can still date” and “aces can still have sex” are not neutral statements. They are loaded with pressure to conform to amatonormativity and abandon romance-/sex-avoidance in favor of romantic/sexual partnering. It’s like telling a trans person “well, you don’t HAVE to transition.” It’s a passive way of telling someone that you want them to confine themselves within societal standards. Yes, there are aromantic people that date and asexual people that have sex, but many of us are not romantically or sexually partnering, and it is intrinsic to our aro/ace identities. Any attempt to erase that or otherwise downplay its significance is blatant aphobia. Not to mention how those statements are constantly used to erase aro/ace representation in media, even when the character in question has made it abundantly clear that they are not at all interested in romantic or sexual relationships. Get your fucking nose out of aro/ace peoples’ business and stop playing into belief systems that constantly harm us.
(Edit: changed a bit of my wording to be more specific)
People in romantic relationships are so weird to me because one day it's all "I have the best gf/bf in the world!" then they break up a week later
love being an author because I just just say "Yeah all the characters are somewhere on the aroace spectrum" and no one can stop me. if there is a relationship? it's canonically a qpr. if I ever write a character who is 100% allo then it's a cry for help because I'm being held hostage in a basement somewhere.
Mother sloth reunites with her baby
For an animal with an average land speed of four inches a minute that only comes down the tree every couple weeks to shit, it’s kinda sweet to see mama haul ass at the heart-stopping rate of “fatigued elderly woman forgot her receipt”
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
this is the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life
That is SPLENDID!
A large part of the failure of the left has been a failure to distinguish between 'this shouldnt be illegal' and 'this should be acceptable.' That if you dont praise and uncrically support someone's actions, you must want them arrested or otherwise punished for it.
To use a somewhat trivial example that has been across my dash recently: Playing loud music or videos in public should be unacceptable. It annoys the people around you, and it can be easily avoided, so theres no reason not to. At a bare minimum people who do this should be subjected to stares and dirty looks, and at worst being told 'Hey turn that off.' They should not however, be arrested or physically assaulted for doing so. Its annoying but not warranting of violence.
But theres apparently a certain segment of people who see any type of judgement or failure to support their actions as an infringment on their 'freedom' or even a harbinger of fascism. Because somehow they've lost touch with the ability to see that you can dislike something without wanting to be criminalized.
This is a concept in confucianism where human behaviour ought not to be regulated by laws, but by rites and propriety. Laws are a last resort.
A truly moral people don't need laws.
A truly civilized people don't need laws.
Of course, we're only half civilized at best, after all we are only human, but that's still more than some other cultures.
We still need some laws, but not as many as we have now, even with the current state of societal morals. If the civil society didn't abdicate its enforcement of norms to the government, we would need even fewer laws.
People who respect and love other people don't refrain from murder or fraud because they're illegal. They refrain from those actions because they love and respect others.
Laws exist to deter (through fear of punishment) those who don't respect others and punish those who aren't sufficiently motivated by that fear.
That is the teaching in confucianism as well.
Most people ought to be guided by rites and propriety, but for people for whom that doesn't work out, the law exists to control their behaviour.
As Confucius said, "If the people be led by laws, and uniformity sought to be given them by punishments, they will try to avoid the punishment, but have no sense of shame. If they be led by virtue, and uniformity sought to be given them by the rules of propriety, they will have the sense of shame, and moreover will become good."
*staring sternly into the mirror* you've had a wild week, you haven't eaten today, you've barely interacted with people today. do not trust the Vague Sense of Unease
Oh ok so it turns out ive been borrowing grief from the future ! it turns out ive been preparing to lose the things i love rather than basking in the light of them while they last. Maybe i should nt do that
the hours between 8-11pm should be reusable. optional mini time loop you can rewind and start over if you had more tasks to do or another book to read or the first three hours hanging out w your friend weren’t enough
