"The ruins?" Caia's brows rose at Vivian's words, their heart rate picking up a tic. "What makes you think that it's related to Artemis? Seems like a stretch... What would humans know about ancient supernatural ruins?"

Vivian's senses quirked up at Caia's demeanor shift, curious as to why the ruins could have created such a response. "If there's one thing i've learned from living in this city, it's that nothing about it makes any sense. But maybe it's because we're not asking the right questions?" she pondered out loud in response. "I think the bigger question right now is why don't supernaturals know more about those ancient supernatural ruins. Especially with Artemis on our backs, I think if there are any answers to find, shouldn't we be the ones that find them first? What if there's something down there that they can use against us?"

Viv internally fought with the voice in her head that told her it was a mistake. She was hungry, exhausted, and jet lagged which was a bad combination for a vampire to be, but she was also homesick. Something about Jax reminded her of the home she’d rushed to get back to when she finished her research, and she wanted to savor that feeling a little longer. She also wondered if some part of her clung to him because it was her last tether to Danny, to the person she was several lifetimes ago.

“That sounds like some brave talk from the big bad wolf. Guess we’ll just have to see about that,” she mused with a half grin. The expression faltered slightly as he grew closer to her. She could feel a charge brew in the short distance between them, glancing up to meet his eyes before turning to walk inside.

“I’m glad to see the place hasn’t lost its touch.” Viv took in the bar as she made her way to the nearest stool, still smelling the remnants of ash and fresh construction at the rebuild. She’d been devastated to hear about his bar, considering how much he’d shared his passion for the place before she left. Feeling his grip on her shoulder as she placed her jacket on the nearby stool, a soft smile spread on her lips. “So…how are you holding up? You know, after everything. And don’t you dare say you’re fine because I don’t need vampire senses to know that’s a lie,” she asked, a hint of a tease in her tone as she watched him flick on the lights.

Jaxon switched on the overhead lights at the bar, choosing to leave the rest off, and moved behind the bar with a with a familiar, practiced ease..and a smile, which grew fonder when she spoke. "You gonna put me to the test, doctor?" the wolf said, giving the vampiress a slow, lingering look. The kind that she might have been used to from him once, before their lives and work took a hold of them. "I'll try my best, if that's the case. I can promise that much."

He reached for a couple of clean glasses, using a cloth to polish hers before setting them both on the countertop. Then, he looked over his shoulder and took a step back to get a wine he'd been saving up for some time. For what, he could not recall but..he remembered Vivian enjoying it that one night in his office. "..it wasn't all me. Will, Max, even Gwen..they all helped in one way or another." And he was thankful for it, he thought. Reed poured the dark, velvet liquid into her glass, and continued, "As for me..I'm good. Really. Just tired and missing pack life a little more than I'd like to admit."

Jax pushed the glass toward her, his fingers grazing the tabletop, and shrugged it off. "I also missed you." he added, "How's..research been? Good news?"

The blonde watched him maneuver around the bar, resting her chin in her hand as he moved around with ease. She enjoyed watching him work, watching his forearms flex as he wiped down the glass and set it down in front of her. She could see his veins slightly protruding from muscle, a gulp gracing her throat she pushed away the thoughts that threatened to consume her. “I just might have to. Somebody’s gotta keep you on your claws” she mused with a lazy smile.

It seemed like his whole village had come together yo rebuild the bar, she thought as she continued to take in their hard work, “i can about imagine the chaos of all of you with power tools. You guys did an awesome job,” she admitted as the red liquid filled the glass. Her smile faltered at hearing that he missed the pack, a small part of her hoping that he and Caleb would have reconciled their differences by now. She hadn’t been back to check on things with the pack yet, leaving a trusted colleague to provide medical care to the Lycaon pack in her absence. Guilt pooled in her stomach, her eyes adverting from his to the glass. “I’m so sorry, Jax. I… I know i’ve said it a thousand times already, but, I just- I’m sorry. If I hadn’t meddled like an idiot then you’d still you’d still be with them. I wish things could be different…” she trailed off, reaching for the glass to take a sip.

Viv welcomed the rich sweetness of the blood wine on her lips, making a mental note to pace herself on an empty stomach, less it go straight to her head. Her eyes darted to Jax at his next words, a slight blush coating her cheeks as she placed the glass on the bar. “I missed you too…” she agreed, biting her lip to subdue the smile. She cleared her throat as he changed the subject, “Good. It’s… good. Really good, actually. We finished everything ahead of schedule and the rest I can do from here, hence the first ticket home.” She took another anxious sip.

She knew that Vivian was right. Daphne was protecting the man who had left her for dead on the floor. As much as she longed to think better of the vampire, he was no better than those leeches who prayed on drunken people with vulnerable hearts at the bar. It was the disappointment in Vivian's voice that truly broke her- made her see that by protecting Caspian, she would probably hurt another. "Is there an interior justice besides Teddy?" She knew about the Council, but she didn't wish to bother them with a matter that was partly Daphne's own stupidity. Teddy said he would take care of it, but the way Vivian looked at her, Daph wasn't sure that would be enough to keep him from repeating his actions at some other point.

Viv contemplated how to answer Daphne's question, vampire politics being a strange and messy business. "Not...really. Depending on the severity of the crime, vampire's usually handle matters themselves. If larger scale there are some police forces that handle these sort of things and for bigger crimes they're brought in front of the counsel. With Artemis it complicates things further," she added, pulling the bedside chair close to sit next to Daphne's bed. "Teddy and I may not agree on some things, but I think on this matter we'd both agree that you're in a dangerous situation right now. I want you to think about this Caspian. Really think about your interaction... your instincts. Does he seem like the type that would do this again? Or has done this before?.... or that he might come back to finish the job."

"I'm glad we were able to get Frankie over to you." It had required a bit of coordinating with some other people who were going overseas, and apparently some teleportation, but Chris was glad Viv had had someone from home with her. "Daphne's doing better. The whole alternate future thing left her in a pretty bad place so she found her own sire again. He and I chatted on the phone some." It was weird like meeting a family member who you knew had to exist but who also just wasn't in your life.

"Interesting. You'll have to give me a tour of one of the production lines at some point." He took another sip of the blood. There was definitely a bit of an aftertaste, but he could get used to it if he drank it long enough, though he'd definteily gotten used to fresh blood even more than bagged now. He wasn't too sure what some older vampires would think. "Have you talked with any of the clan leaders? Some of them might not be too happy to have someone else on the street supplying blood." Given everything he'd heard about Leon's business, Chris imagined he might have a problem with an artificial blood substitute. Then again, maybe his customers weren't the sort of people who would interested in it.

Viv didn't know how to feel about Chris's words. Although she'd been a victim of alternate timeline memories herself, she tried her hardest not to let it affect her day-to-day. She expected more from an older vampire such as Daphne, but she also understood the toll they could take if left unchecked. "That's really good to hear, Chris. I'm glad you two are getting closer again." Her words weren't a lie, but they also weren't the whole truth.

"I sure will once things are up and running more smoothly. Should be in the next week or two. While that's getting settled, this vampire gets a much needed break," she spoke with enthusiasm, excited for some time to relax and get reacclimated to home.

At Chris's next words, she sighed, shifting slightly in their position. "Some, yes. Belle is on board, but I know Rosu may be an issue. I haven't spoken to Teddy yet. And the others... well, we'll burn that bridge when we get to it, won't we," she tried to answer reassuringly. She knew there would be adversaries in her discovery, but she didn't want to let that shadow her project. "As long as it gets Artemis off of our backs is all that matters right now."

"Not the festival, but recently, I suppose," Caia replied, their elbow leaning on the table so that they could press their knuckle to their temple.

"They made contact and our elders met with some of them to come up with a new set of rules that our community now needs to adhere to. So we're basically being threatened with Artemis and her ilk... It's kind of fucked up."

Viv mulled over Caia's words, shaking her head slightly. "I just don't get it. I understand wanting to preserve human life and all, trust me, but I can't shake the feeling that there's more to this, you know?" she took a careful sip of her blood as she met Caia's eyes again. "First those weird ruins opening up in the city, and now this? I mean, you can't tell me it's not all connected somehow. Now that my research lab is ahead on a few projects I've actually been thinking about getting a team together to survey down there. Maybe get some samples and run a few tests. Figuring out what was going on down there, might give us a key to what Artemis is trying to distract us from." Viv didn't know why she was saying this all out loud to Caia. Maybe it was the jetlag, or possibly feeling good to share her ideas out loud to someone who would listen.

She admires his leadership and courage as a pack leader, even if she doesn't always agree with his decisions. Viv can still feel the tension between them after what happened with Gwen and Jax, and she hopes that one day he might be able to forgive her.

Do they have something special that picks them up when they feel down? What is it?

Gardening is her usual go-to when she's stressed. She loves digging in the dirt, pulling out weeds, and making something beautiful out of the Earth. If there's nothing to be done, she'll usually sit on her swing in her backyard with a glass of blood wine and a good book, deeply inhaling the floral aromas. Frankie is usually chasing lizards or sunbathing close by. She also loves a dance party in her kitchen with some good music, and of course, blood wine.

People who are rude for no reason. People who disrespect, devalue, or talk down to her or others. Being lied to or betrayed. Animal abuse. Witches

When do they feel the most guilt? How do they respond to it?

Vivian often feels the most guilty after one of her patients dies in the ER. Although there are still gaps in her memory from when she was cursed, she still has plenty from the death and destruction she caused under Marius's orders. Vivian is haunted by these memories daily, and she usually tries to cope by throwing herself into her work even more. During her time in DWB in Asia, she explored the karmic teachings of Buddhism, specifically the role of intentions and cause and effect. She believes that by saving lives and bringing some good back into the world, she can balance the abundance of suffering she caused and maybe bring some light to what's left of her soul.

What are they currently juggling in their life?

So many things. Trying to get Severine off the ground for the council, running her research company, accidentally siring a vampire, reconnecting and building a relationship with her own sire, working in the ER, siring by proxy Chris, navigating her feelings for Jax/ a werewolf, trying to figure out why her memory seems foggy at times. The list goes on and on... and on. No, she does not sleep, and yes, her bloodstream is purely caffeine.

Walk with me,” he requested, motioning for Vivian to follow him as he headed in the direction of a nearby trailer for his personal use. “Lian won’t forgive me if you get sick in that outfit, and Ayumu’s gonna expect you able to sing and dance in 20,” he added, thinking of what a hectic start to the final day he had had even before filming had begun.

She fought another wave of nausea, letting out a slow breath as she followed Gus. Hearing the timeline of the next hour was like a gong to her senses, the panic starting to seep in despite her throbbing head. The blonde began chewing on her lip, a nasty habit that she'd been fussed over for most of her life, a telltale sign of her nerves. "I can do this," her voice groggy from the morning. She couldn't tell if her words were to convince Gus or herself, but she was having a hard time believing them. "Where are we going... My trailer is back that way?"

“It’s okay.” Carmen wasn’t sure she would have ever been able to get away from her parent’s watchful guard to attend the winter festival, maybe by next year she would have been able to gain enough control over herself to gain their confidence to attend. Being a vampire was one issue, her mental state was another and both were considered issues by her family.

Carmen’s gaze flitted across to the cafe, one of the concealed blood banks she had been escorted to since she had been released from the Sanitorium. Her parents had even shown her a map of where the banks were located. The blood wasn’t the same, it didn’t feel or taste the same. It wasn’t the same comfort of it being someone. “Right…” she responded tentatively, “Are you coming too?”

Viv watched the girl before her with curious eyes, wondering the type of life she led. It was easy for her to fall back into old memories of how difficult it had been for Vivian in the early days of her Vampirism. It had been a difficult, lonely, and often perilous process of becoming the vampire she was today, and a part of her worried that the girl might be suffering the same fate. A mixture of pity and concern filled Vivian’s features at the tentativeness in the girl’s voice, “I sure am. Care to join me?” She extended her hand then, in greeting as much as a white flag of peace, “I’m Viv, by the way.”
