Wasp wetspecimen

Just finished turning these guys into Itty bitty wet specimen. Hopefully they stay in this condition and don't turn into little wasp raisens. I want to find an old dead wasp in a window or something so I have all the life stages and then I can take them to the schools to help educate the kiddos. I also preserved a spiderweb.

The new friend

I got my first scorpion today. Its a desert hairy scorpion. Its name is Sol, after the norse goddess of the sun. Sol also means "sun" in spanish so its the perfect name.

Also! My horse skull is clean enough to go on my shelf for now. I'll be doing more work on it down the road.

The wolf skull

Have you ever seen a wolf skull? This is the one I'm working on currently. I have a deal with a trapper that if I clean the wolf and bear skulls he had and let him have the skull of his choice I could have the one he didn't pick as well as a large lot of skulls including the horse skull I have currently in peroxide. I already have a bear skull so I kinda hope he wants his bear skull so I can keep the wolf. The pictures below are of a wolf in comparison with a coyote.

Richard

Meet Richard. He's a human skull replica cast off a real human skull. My partner gets the heebies from real skulls so we went for the middle ground and got a cast 🥰 I loves it!

Housecat Skull

This cat was found under the porch at a friend's house. I cleaned it up a bit. Its missing some teeth from transport and probably some from being under the deck so long but most are still in there. Even through the cleaning process I managed to keep his slight patina.

The piggy

I got this guy the other day from a friend. I traded him for some raw skulls I hadn't cleaned yet. He's super cool. And yep thats a real tattoo. Years ago, before we had synthetic skins, deceased pigs were used by tattooists to practice their art because the pigs skin is so similar to ours. Though we have synthetic skins for them now, some places still use pig skin.

The cougar skull

Just finished this cougar for my friend. All cleaned up and ready to go. He's a handsome boy. It took a year to clean and will be coming back to me in a few months for some additional degreasing.

The photos with 3 skulls pictured are of a housecat, bobcat and cougar skull all lined up for size comparison.

The newbies

I got a few new wet specimens. These are the snakes. A white lipped python and a juvenile emerald tree boa.
