So, The Glowing Eyes:
It seems pretty clear by now that this happens when a witch is casting magic while experiencing powerful emotions.
On a somewhat scientific level, you could argue that because a witch's bile sac is connected to their heart, powerful emotions increase their heartbeat rates, which boosts the bile flow the way it boosts the speed of blood flow for humans. Again, this is only a somewhat scientific explanation, I am not A Science™.
But on a more character analysis level, do you think the reason he hasn't been seen doing this before is because he's been bottling up his emotions for so long, and as a result, holding himself back from his true potential?
I wonder, is that the real reason Darius thinks he's a hack?
Especially if he knew him when they were both young, when Alador's bright eyed curiosity wasn't so stifled, when he still had conviction and expressed himself fully and genuinely, when he didn't lie to everyone, especially himself? Like father like daughter indeed...
And do you think that maybe, just maybe, that's the real reason Darius resents him so much? Because he feels like his best friend was stolen by this cold, detached man he doesn't even recognize anymore?
Do you think Darius mourns the Alador he used to know?
