I also think that the strength gap is at least partially manufactured women would in fact be stronger overall if little girls were encouraged to do physically taxing games and activities and eat their fill while they’re growing vs having to constantly diet and be sedentary indoors (or god forbid do intense cardio while under-eating). The amount of adult women honestly afraid to lift weights bc they think they’ll get bulky as though bulking isn’t a full time job that athletes have to spend all their time on and anyone on earth gets shredded from just using their adult muscles for their intended purpose, girl your bone density 🥀
personally I am of the opinion that vegans who are like “the way our food system currently works under capitalism on a large scale is exceptionally cruel to all animals including humans and is not sustainable, so I’m doing what I can to make the most ethical choices available to me about what I eat and encourage others to do the same” are generally very reasonable people who I agree with in spades. but vegans who seem to think human beings are not themselves animals who are ultimately also part of the food chain but instead some kind of other paternalistic higher entity that can never engage in ethical and sustainable hunting practices (and especially the fringe I’ve seen who think other carnivorous animal predators are also evil and need to be eliminated) are people I regard as foolish at best if not actively anti-indigenous and racist
My hope for whoever is reading this is that your life starts making sense and coming together. I hope the good days are right around the corner for you.
thanks for this
its awesome that neither mind reading nor god are real and all of the thoughts inside of your head are completely private and consequenceless forever #myprivacy
I’m watching that documentary “Before Stonewall” about gay history pre-1969, and uncovered something which I think is interesting.
The documentary includes a brief clip of a 1954 televised newscast about the rise of homosexuality. The host of the program interviewed psychologists, a police officer, and one “known homosexual”. The “known homosexual” is 22 years old. He identifies himself as Curtis White, which is a pseudonym; his name is actually Dale Olson.
So I tracked down the newscast. According to what I can find, Dale Olson may have been the first gay man to appear openly on television and defend his sexual orientation. He explains that there’s nothing wrong with him mentally and he’s never been arrested. When asked whether he’d take a cure if it existed, he says no. When asked whether his family knows he’s gay, he says that they didn’t up until tonight, but he guesses they’re going to find out, and he’ll probably be fired from his job as well. So of course the host is like …why are you doing this interview then? and Dale Olson, cool as cucumber pie, says “I think that this way I can be a little useful to someone besides myself.”
1954. 22 years old. Balls of pure titanium.
Despite the pseudonym, Dale’s boss did indeed recognize him from the TV program, and he was promptly fired the next day. He wrote into ONE magazine six months later to reassure readers that he had gotten a new job at a higher salary.
Curious about what became of him, I looked into his life a little further. It turns out that he ultimately became a very successful publicity agent. He promoted the Rocky movies and Superman. Not only that, but get this: Dale represented Rock Hudson, and he was the person who convinced him to disclose that he had AIDS! He wrote the statement Rock read. And as we know, Rock Hudson’s disclosure had a very significant effect on the national conversation about AIDS in the U.S.
It appears that no one has made the connection between Dale Olson the publicity agent instrumental in the AIDS debate and Dale Olson the 22-year-old first openly gay man on TV. So I thought I’d make it. For Pride month, an unsung gay hero.
RATING: RELIABLE
you can listen to the clip of the 1954 interview here and find him on wikipedia here
isn't it insane though how schizophrenic people are viewed as violent and dangerous by the majority of society when in reality schizophrenic people are nearly 14 times more likely to be on the receiving end of violence than to be the perpetrators...
schizophrenic person: makes a post trying to raise awareness about the disproportionate abuse and harmful stereotypes schizophrenic people face
yall: "yeah im not gonna reblog this they used the word ins*ne which is so problematic ://"
What the fuck happens that changes these stats to such a massive degree?
1) schizophrenia hardly ever causes people to be violent so schizophrenic people aren’t more likely to be violent than anyone else
2) schizophrenic people’s autonomy is often taken away from them because of their schizophrenia. because the authorities and mental healthcare providers often automatically assume schizophrenic people to be violent, they’re more likely to immediately react to schizophrenic people's symptoms with violence, without even knowing for sure said schizophrenic person was going to be violent. all of this causes schizophrenic people to be more likely of being victims of violence and abuse. schizophrenic people also have a harder time getting out of abusive households because of the risk of their autonomy being taken away. if a schizophrenic person’s relative or partner is abusive, often the schizophrenic person has no way out of the situation, both because our disconnect from reality can result in us being easier to manipulate, and because the system is built in a way that it takes away our autonomy because of our condition.
also schizophrenic people and psychotic people in general, please do a lot of research before picking a provider for your own sake, and if they try to treat your psychosis in a way that you think is harmful then don’t hesitate to switch providers. your safety and wellbeing should be a priority over everything else.
can y'all please reblog this version instead

Here’s the story: they redubbed the film (also) because the characters kept repeating a blasphemous word throughout – I’ll let you guess which one lol
Gojo x Princess Mononoke?.
Experimenting with my style...
A sound is still a sound around no one
Completely irrelevant to my blog but I had to get it out somewhere-- I watched Princess Mononoke some months (yes, literal months) back and I'm still not over the fact that Moro waited near the pool to kill Eboshi, dying slowly with hatred in her heart, saving her strength so her final act, an act of violence, can be one she hopes and prays will be in service of the forest and will conserve its peace even a little.
But when she sees her daughter-- her precious human daughter, her ugly and beautiful and torn between worlds daughter, caught in Okkoto, the boar god's tusks-- she instantly abandons all hopes of revenge and a better future for her forest, her world. She rises up even as she's dying and snarls at Okkoto to give her daughter back. She launches herself at him to take back San, tearing through the curse that's wrecking his body and mind. An act of love. She does not rest until San is safe with Ashitaka.
That was her final act in the world of the living, despite the hatred she always bore Eboshi and irontown-- to save her daughter who could be neither wolf nor woman. She loved San, so much.
Once she's dead-- and if I remember correctly, it was Eboshi that blew her dead off-- San tries to reach Eboshi to exact vengeance. She's furious. Her world is falling apart, quite literally. Her mother is dead. She's lost her mind, she's willing to take any risk, do anything to get to Eboshi. Ashitaka holds her back.
And so it is Moro's own head that slithers through the leaf litter, over the earth and rips Eboshi's arm off-- her final act of vengeance, of hatred, enacted only in death-- was once again in service of her daughter, of her beloved San. It was once again an act born of love.

Ashitaka is an Emishi prince and that is important
Let me elaborate
Many people have touched on the facts about Emishi history in the context of Princess Mononoke. But so far, few have addressed the question of "why" to a satisfactory manner. Of course, it may have simply been to position a character as "neutral" in a story so full of opposite sides and festering hatred.
Personally, I think there is more to be said about the significance of Ashitaka's ethnicity.
As is mentioned in the movie itself, the shared history between the Emishi and the Yamato people was not one of peace, fraternity and prosperity. It was one of bloodshed, suppression, war, annihilation. The Emishi people were branded as "barbarians" and driven off the land they had lived on for centuries. The full title of Shogun - Seii Taishogun - was coined initially to denote the commander who lead the army against the Emishi people.
So to me, Ashitaka's ethnicity does not make him a "neutral party" in the conflict. He is a neutral party because he chooses to be. However, it's not difficult to imagine what he must be thinking to travel across Japan and see warring states tearing each other apart from within the same country, the same people, the same clan even. First, they drive his people to extinction. Then, they turn against each other. And now, they want to fight nature? Where in hell does the hatred stop?
Second, and perhaps more poignant. It is an allegory for the effects of environmental disasters on small, usually poor and/or indigenous communities. Ashitaka's curse was passed onto him from a boar who turned monstrous after having been shot by Lady Eboshi with her fancy gun. Clearly, he and his people played no part in that violence, but they are the ones who faced the consequences of environmentally destructive militarism and industrialism.
If the curse is read as an illness it can symbolize zoonotic diseases. In the 1990s, a sharp decline in vulture population in India lead to one of the worst rabies epidemics in recent history, killing tens of thousands of people per year. Ongoing deforestation destroys the habitats of many species, resulting in exposure to terrifying diseases we do not yet know about. And the first people to be affected are the communities who live around such areas.
In more general ways, it symbolizes the impact of environmental disasters as a whole. The Fukushima nuclear leak destroyed the lives and livelihood of countless residents of Tohoku - one of the poorest areas in Japan, and the last homes of the Emishi people. Even to this day, many of them remain displaced, living in temporary shelters. Meanwhile, the electric company responsible for the power plant's faulty design got off with a meagre fine, and its top executives were acquitted of charges. Reason being: they provide electricity to the Kanto region. Modernity, convenience and comfort at the cost of people's lives.
What’s wrong with the AI generated Ghibli family photos?
What’s wrong with the AI generated Ghibli family photos? I’m sure lots of people think, if you can’t draw, or if you don’t have the time to learn to draw, what’s wrong with it? I’m not here to give you a hard time, so please just hear me out. Has a Ghibli movie ever made you really happy? Like seriously, think about it. Maybe when you were a kid watching My Neighbor Totoro, or Spirited Away, or Ponyo, for the first time. When you were older did you look for other Ghibli movies to watch? Maybe you first discovered Ghibli when you were an adult, and you still got wrapped up in it’s whimsical world. Now, how happy did it make you? After you think about that joy, let’s take a detour for a minute. Hayao Miyazaki despises AI. Here’s two quotes from him about AI art, and a link to a video of him saying it, if you want to fact check. “I am utterly disgusted. If you really want to make creepy stuff, you can go ahead and do it, but I would never wish to incorporate this technology into my work at all. I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself.” “I feel like we are nearing to the end of times. We humans are losing faith in ourselves…” Video of him saying this
Don’t be insecure about not being able to draw, or your skill level. Made specifically for people who have never picked up a pencil, there’s a 10 minute tutorial on replicating the Ghibli style by SamDoesArts. Please

I swear it’ll make the world a better place. And please, honor Hayao Miyazaki. He’s been animating for Ghibli for 40 years. AI replicates the style, by disobeying copyright laws. I think it’s fair to say the workers behind Ghibli do not want you doing this with their hard work. However,
they would love for you to draw.
