Hello everyone! I know I’m not as active as I used to be on this account, but I have several things I want to address.
First of all, for those unaware--the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement has impacted America for about a week. People are risking their lives by going outside and protesting against police brutality and institutionalized racism.
Now, as someone who isn’t Black or African American, I can’t say much but I want to bring attention to this movement. It is not a trend, and this is not just something that has been “recent.” It’s been ongoing for too many years, and after the murder of a name named George Floyd--who was crushed to death by a police officer who cut off his blood circulation via neck--people have had enough. I want to use my platform on here to do something and that is to help and support these people.

It has many resources as to what you can do! Americans and those living abroad can sign petitions and help donate. For international people, if they ask for a zip code please just google one from an American city (i.e Los Angeles, New York City). Please donate as well! We want change, and all of this tension has led up to these protests. IF YOU ARE PROTESTING, I sincerely hope you take care of yourself and others. Keep an eye out for people! IF AN AREA OF A CITY HAS BEEN DEEMED TOO DANGEROUS FOR A PROTEST (AKA POLICE INTERVENING AND SHOOTING, ETC.) PLEASE LEAVE! YOUR SAFETY MATTERS AS WELL.
Along with police brutality and racial issues in America, I also want to shine some light on other issues in the world.
JAPAN AND FRANCE ARE BOTH TRYING TO TACKLE POLICE BRUTALITY! They are both protesting and the French government has proposed a possible law that will make it illegal to film cops. This is problematic because it PROTECTS unlawful cops and will allow them to get away with unjustified murders. In Japan, a Kurdish man was detained by the police and severely beaten for no reason. This led to an outbreak of protests throughout the nation. I ask my followers to help show support for the Japanese and French people at this time. If you guys find any petitions and whatnot to sign, PLEASE SIGN THEM!
In the Philippines, the government is proposing an “anti-terrorism” law. This will be disregarding the rights of the people and will make it easy for citizens to be arrested for not doing anything bad. They are taking away their rights of freedom and I sincerely hope you guys can also support the Filipino citizens at this time.
We must come together and fight change. I know it’s not much, but please help. I want everyone to be safe, and I don’t want anyone to suffer. Your silence is equal to intolerance. By not taking action, you are the problem. Signing petitions is the least you can do, and it does not take much time either. There are also many threads on Twitter that can help educate you on BLM, the situations in Japan, France, and Philippines. The internet is a powerful tool my friends, and I hope you guys can use it well.
