It’s by no means perfect, so feel free to share your thoughts, your feedback really helps me improve!

There are seven parts to this + afterword by mxtx! I’ll be updating one part a day (hopefully)~ Parts 1-3 have been translated as of this post and I will continue updating in the next couple of days!

The Obscure Hidden Yaoi of Ranma 1/2

CW: Mention of Suicide, Period-Typical Transphobic and Homophobic reactions

There's a scene in the manga where Gosunkugi crossdresses to get Ranma's attention(this isn't the first time btw) and sabotage his role in the Romeo & Juliet play.

When he rejects the bomb, they parody a love rejection scene.

Whenever one of Ranma's rivals catches him with a girl that's not Akane/Shampoo, they normally celebrate it and even root for him since he won't be "getting in their way" anymore.

But Gosunkugi gets weirdly jilted about it, heart pumping sound effects and all.

In chapter 200 Gosunkugi gets a set of paper dolls that can control people when given commands. Though accidental, he only puts romantic commands on men.

In particular, Ranma and Gosunkugi's date gets a lot of spotlight, lasting 2 pages out of a 16 page chapter, culminating in this exchange.

After this happened Ranma starts blushing when Gosunkugi walks by and asks what his intentions were earlier.

The next Gosunkugisode is about him reconsidering his thoughts on Ranma since he saved him from bullies, but this gets rebuffed by Gosunkugi buying a mecha armor to defeat him. His crush on Akane gets mentioned less and less.

If the armor doesn't punch the desired target in 30 minutes both the wearer and the target will explode. By the end of the chapter, Ranma has a speech about pride and fighting Gosunkugi fairly. The only part of it that he notices is "man to man".

After this Gosunkugi tearfully swoons over Ranma acknowledging him, describing his current situation as a lovers' suicide and apologizing for not wanting to do it.

The chapter ends with Gosunkugi not being able to finish a sentence directed to Ranma with similar wording to the earlier scene about him being accepted.

Even though he sits directly behind Ranma, this is the last time Gosunkugi ever ambushes him. Even though he sits next to Akane, he never shows any reaction to her anymore and seems to be looking at someone else instead. He only uses his straw dolls to fidget with.

The last line Gosunkugi ever has in the manga has him sweating heavily with his heart beating fast after finding a supposed wedding ring that Ranma had buried in the ground(with Ranma blushing in the back for good measure).

This was just an excuse to list the fruitiest moments these two had.

As a bonus, here's a minor detail that I noticed. Whenever Ranma's rivals want to insult him, they all go "Yurusan!(Unforgivable!)" or "Onore!!(You!!)".

But Gosunkugi instead repeatedly says "Saotome no Baka!!(Stupid Saotome!!)" just like his suitors do.

Cang Qiong Mountain Sect Disciple Jade Token Merch Concept --Scum Villain's Self Saving System--

This was originally designed for the Cang Qiong Archive Disciples Era Zine. Sadly it wasn't chosen as competition was fierce and the Scum Villain fandom is blessed by many truly talented artists. While my design wasn't picked, the artists on the project are really amazing so I'm very excited to see the zine and the merch when it eventually comes out.

However I still really love my concept and I wanted to share it. If anyone is interested I might consider doing my own small run of the item. If no one is interested, I might just make one for myself. So let me know in the comments if this is something you would conceivably want to buy. The design isnt fully finished and will probably have a few revisions.

--THE DESIGN --

My concept for this piece of merch was to make a jade token Yaopei (waist ornament) in the Jinbu style that is seen in Cultivation stories. I wanted something that could be both hung on a bag or a wall or even considered part of a cosplay. I love merch that bridges that gap between something cool to collect and something characters in the world could have owned. Its why I like prop-replicas.

While Scum Villain does not actually mention jade tokens specifically, they are used in MXTX's other work MDZS so their inclusion makes sense from a world building perspective. Jade tokens were often used to show someone's authority or right to be in a place so it would make sense that different disciples or members of different sects in scum villain would have their own type of token. I went with a round token design over a tablet as I thought it mimicked the ornaments seen in the belt designs from the official art.

My in-universe idea is that this would have been an item either given to senior disciples or head disciples to show their authority. So Shen Jiu, Liu Qingge, Mu Qingfang, etc would have had one before they became peak lords. When fans own it, it would mark everyone as part of the Cang Qiong disciple family, like all the fans belonging to the same sect kind of thing. It gives that sort of "community family" whomesome feel.

I looked at real jade token designs while coming up with the design, as seen under References, and went with a cloud theme as Cang Qiong translates as "Heavenly Dome". I looked at how clouds were drawn and carved in Ancient China and tried to create something that would fit. I did use the Calligraphy art of whoever made the Cang Qiong Archive logo, as my ability to do calligraphy of traditional chinese characters is exactly..... zero. If I did end up making this for sale I would want to reach out to them to get their permission as calligraphy is an artform and all artists deserve credit for their work. If I couldn't reach them I would probably find a different calligraphy artist willing to work with me to do their version of the characters and then use that. The characters are traditonal Hanzi, which I went with over modern Hanzi since it felt more fitting for the era and the calligraphy I referenced was already in traditional.

Materials wise I was considering acrylic, which while it wouldn't be super great for say a cosplay, would be hardy enough as a keychain and allow for a double sided design. I also considered enamel to make the charm metal, but it would come down to size and price and I believe acrylic is more affordable.

I went with a whiter "jade" color than the images referenced because whiter jade feels more "heavenly dome" than greener jades, which feel more "earthly".

My SVSSS/Chobits dream

I legit had this dream but someone might find it inspiring for a fic, so feel free to take the idea and run like the cops are chasing you. (Just link it to me later)

So last night I had this dream that was like if Chobits and SVSSS got mashed together.

Basically I found Shen Jiu, who was a robot like Chi, all wrapped up and chucked out in the trash of the Qiu estate, like Chi at the beginning of Chobits.

Anyway I took him home and started fixing him up. Unlike Chi his “on” button was his navel. He was in a very bad state. He was very broken and sad and dying. Obviously he’d been horrifically abused by Qiu Jianluo and I had to replace lots of parts. He was partially awake for some of it and wondered why I was saving him and wanted me to just let him shut down forever. But Jiumei deserves everything so I was committed to my task!!

I don’t remember all of the dream but I remember that he was scared that if Qiu Jianluo saw him back in working order he’d try and claim “ownership” and take him back and i was like “we’ve had to replace so many of your inner parts, if it reaches at least 40% then you would count as a different robot/cyborg/ai whatever and I have all the receipts for the parts we had to buy so you will never go back to that abusive fuck”

For some reason my brain was sure of this 40% rule which was a law in dream land but I think is a misremembering about some vague copyright rule about original vs derivative works from reality. But dream logic, it was a law in dream logic persicom robot land.

Anyway most of the dream was like cute domestic stuff (if you find replacing the inner parts and mechanisms of your robot!blorbo in the style of Battle Angel Alita as cute) and trauma recovery for Jiu-mei.

With all due respect sir, and I know you've been through a hell of a lot of elections, the politics of this country have been shifting more right wing for a couple of years now and I doubt .4% of people voting for a third party would have made a fucking difference when no one in this country even listens to the popular vote

I expected that many would miss the point of the post I made—even though I literally said in the post "The point wasn't to get votes for a third party candidate"—screenshot in case you missed it:

It is voter suppression. It is always voter suppression. That was the point. It is to keep people home. The third party candidates, the fantasy candidates ("How can you vote for x candidate when theoretical y candidate who isn't in this election is so much more liberal?!"), that's the distraction. It is always about getting voters to stay home and not cast a vote. I don't know how I can make that any clearer.

Even in cases where a specific third party candidate's vote total might have made the difference (in 2000 Bush won Florida by 537 votes while Ralph Nader, many of whose voters were more allied with Gore than Bush, received 97,421 votes), the answer is never "Why did you vote for a third party candidate?", it's "Why didn't more Floridians come out to vote?" After all, with many of those third party voters, IF they were forced to choose between two candidates only, maybe they wouldn't have voted at all, so it wouldn't have made a difference. In this year's election, most third party votes went to candidates that leaned conservative, so if they weren't there, maybe Trump gets more votes in those states, not fewer.

No, listen, I don't know how to make this clearer: THE PROPAGANDA IS TO GET VOTERS NOT TO VOTE. It is ALWAYS to get voters not to vote. How they do it changes with the election, but the goal is always to get voters to stay home.

Also, in case you think I'm blaming Gen-Z, I was hoping referring to the history would set the concern aside (they weren't there in 2000). It's not a generation's fault. It is simply failing to recognize propaganda and what it is ultimately trying to get you to do. In this case, it's the same thing every time: to not vote. The liberals vs. ultra-liberals thing is a fiction to drive down liberal turnout.

I know it's been said many times, but if voting weren't important, Republicans wouldn't care about it. Truly, when they don't care about voting, that's the time to truly be frightened, because it means at that point voting is no longer relevant to the process.
