Now I fully understand that so often I have social anxiety, it’s really chaining me. Even though I somehow overcame it in some spheres of my life it still lives in me and now I understand that I’ve been living with it for A LOT of time. It’s really hard for me to actually realize that, because even when I do basic social interaction of some sort - especially with strangers - I get a lot of unease. BUT the worst part is that even if I finally overcome it and say something - It’s not going away, and it never goes away even if I do the same thing over, over and OVER again like a 100 of times. It’s still there. i don’t know where it came from, maybe from my education, relationships in family and first social interactions. And another thing is that people judge me, they judge me openly in front of other people and I’m so embarassed and I know that my day from now on is ruined because I WILL think about this situation all day long. Sometimes people give me a task involving social interaction or I simply need to say something and I’m alone. I need some time to prepare, then it’s not even guaranteed i will say it and in the first few seconds people already expect to do it and start judging me or making fun of me. Or I’m finally saying something but really quiet. Or I have a shorter route to do something that I can clearly see but I choose the longer one because I’m used to do it like that and I’m afraid to step outside of my comfort zone asking for something. Afraid of making myself look stupid. And that way I waste my own time. Now it annoys me. It’s so annoying that now I’m afraid people will judge my actions, especially older people, and especially when they start saying something about my education = blaming my family which I love. I don’t want to make myself looking like a victim or an innocent sheep or a person hungry for attention and a pity person. I just wanted to splash my emotions on a piece of digital paper. Don’t be afraid, we all have problems and I’m with you on this journey of self development, we wiil come through one day, know that at least one person in this world belives in you. Much love ❤️
Sorry, haters.
All my life I’ve heard non-cat people insisting cats don’t love you and just want food but actual scientific testing confirms what anyone with cats already knows, that given the choice they would actually rather see their people first than just eat.
I knew that!!! But, actually, out of social interaction, food, toys and scent my cat would prefer sleep...
I want to draw a piece of pink diamond but I want to make sure her height would be about right. What do you think about it? Do you think she could be this short or do you think she’s the same height as Yellow and Blue?
Well someone from Crewniverse said themselves that they don’t really care about the size, the just want show and emhasize the feelings in the certain scenes so it really depends on how the artist feels and how he wants the caracter to look concrete in this scene. So there are two possibilities:1) All diamonds have the same height. 2) WD is taller and PD is shorter (but a don’t think that much) based on how they’re placed in the diamond authority symbol
just eastern european things:
having a drawer full of plastic bags and storing plastic bags in another plastic bag
uncomfortable family reunions for every single holiday where everyone brings ridiculous amounts of food and several 2 litre bottles of soda
having to finish your food every time because you or your parents paid for it and if you paid for it you have to eat it
CABBAGE
homemade wine from plastic bottles that your family or your uncle’s neighbours’ wife’s cousin made in the countryside
cheap alcohol and cigarettes
foreign men always coming to your country and declaring ah yes i heard that eastern european women are beautiful
that one relative your mom hates and who she always makes polite but slightly salty conversation with at reunions but then after a few glasses of homemade wine you know they’ll get into an argument
your parents’ and grandparents’ revolution/war/army stories that you’ve heard a thousand times before
those red plastic candle holders that melt with the candle but everyone is still buying to burn underneath a picture of jesus??
crochet placemats everywhere
‘persian’ carpets that have been in the family forever. everyone always trips on them but there are always the persian carpets
your grandmother has at least one plastic statue of virgin mary in her house somewhere and at least one wood painting of jesus
tiny pocket-size, laminated pictures of saints that your grandmother always buys at church and give to everyone every time they visit
potatoes
the eternal fascination of every adult with the news on tv. one news hour ends? switch to another channel for the exact same news
the group of old women gathered outside on a bench, there is always a bench and there is always old ladies and they always tell you that you’ve grown so much since they last saw you even though it was just last week
the cars are parked on the sidewalks, the cars are parked on the street, to the point where you’re not exactly sure where you’re supposed to be walking
there is always a queue and it’s always eternal
growing tomatoes
a bowl of plastic fruit??
your grandparents giving you money for your birthday ‘to buy yourself some cakes/sweets’ and you having to pretend you don’t want it ‘no come on you don’t have to’ before inevitably accepting it ‘you really didn’t have to thank you’
spending that money on cheap alcohol
as soon as it hits 24 degrees everyone is out grilling food, in the back yard, in the park, in the cemetery, on top of a soviet-time apartment building…
SAUSSAGES
these plastic things on every table always in godawful floral or fruit patterns
and finally
weird shit like this
My story (what isn’t true in my case (1) or just me emhasizing how true everything is (2) lol):
I don’t really see any foreigners here because my Eastern European country is like the least popular even though I’ve seen that National Geographic puts it in like 10 places that need more visitors: link. It’s not so bad here but I’d rather visit other countries on the list. Yeah, people are talking that Eastern European women are the most beautiful but here it’s most common to hear that Ukrainian, Russian and Belorussian women are super attractive and Moldovan are not really lol. It’s not true of course.
I’ve been at those family reunions for Easter but my mum is really chill. My grandmother is the one who doesn’t particularly like her mother-in-law because of some things in the past but of course she never shows that in person. And, yeah, those family reunions are always at my grand grandmother’s place, lol.
My grandmother with whom I live is too much into religion. She is still religious but that Soviet past had a little bit of an impact I think. She’s not fanatical at all.
Everyone in my family except probably my grandfather hates news. Women in my family prefer russian melodramas and soap operas lol.
YEAAAH those grannys sitting on one particular bench talking about nothing and full heartedly watching and trying to defend the common courtyard of everyone living there. They’re quite nice here but only about the kids. I think between them and other women above 50 living lady neighbours is a real Cold War sometimes. We also had a joke there that they’re like one organism hydra or dragon with many heads from russian folklore because when you turn around the corner in the courtyard they immediately turn their heads and inspect you talking about you or something else all the way until you enter your flat’s door. That was a little bit uncomfortable for me as a kid considering they did that EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I don’t even know about those red candle holders but I think they’d be really popular here.
What is that vodka thing lol
Everything else is so true OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
tbt to when the atla comic discussed cultural appropriation and absolutely nailed it
But that wasn’t the final word that the book gave on the subject.
To present that scene without further commentary goes against the entire point that Avatar: The Promise was making.
Consider: you’re looking at a comic written by a Chinese-American author (Gene Luen Yang), drawn by two Japanese women (Studio Gurihiru) that primarily illustrate American books, based on an American cartoon that was done in a style reminiscent of Japanese anime (which in turn can be partly traced back to American cartoons), helmed by two Caucasian Americans (Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino), who drew heavily from Inuit, Japanese, Chinese, and Tibetan cultures for inspiration.
The Promise was about Aang trying to clean up the mess left when cultures that had been traditionally separated ended up being mixed (by force), with a particular emphasis on the colonies that the Fire Nation had left in the Earth Kingdom. His initial instinct was to just try to put things back the way they were and make the Fire Nation citizens leave, but he ultimately he realized that wasn’t possible, because he was dealing with actual people and not abstract concepts. There were children raised in two cultures, people from different cultures in love, people who had never set foot in the nation they were being told they had to return to in order to make everything neat and tidy. Aang ultimately rejected the calls to keep every nation/culture separate and instead created Republic City, where people could share and mix their cultures.
As for the Air Nomad Fan Club?
There are absolutely jackasses out there making a mockery of other cultures, or who want to just exploit a culture for profit, discarding it like gum that’s lost its flavor when they can’t get any more money out of it. But when you go beyond condemning that and decide that only the most dominant cultures can be shared, appreciated, reinterpreted, and spread, then you effectively hand a death sentence to all other cultures.
Cultural exchange and expansion should be made with respect, empathy, and genuineness, yes, but it cannot be simply shut down point blank. Genuine appreciation and interest needs to be accepted and guided in a positive direction. The point of The Promise was ultimately that people cannot be neatly put into boxes and told to stick to their own nation and culture. They will make friends, they will fall in love, and cultures will mix, change, and adapt. That’s human nature.
(The OP did touch on some of this in a later post, but it’s worth expanding on)
I was unsure about cultural appropriation and my opinion on it until I’ve read these posts. I mean, I’m always against any kind of discrimination, before I was just sure about definite sides of that problem and was unsure how to feel about some of the more complicated and conroversial. Until almost a year ago I didn’t even know about that problem, didn’t quite understand it because the thought of using someones culture was so new to my mind, never thought about it at all. I just knew that one of my favourite people on the internet had a really radical view on it. But now I understand it even more than before. As in many other controversial situations everything comes down to just being fully respectful to each other as well as open-minded. Yeah, if all people were like that, it would erase so many rules and taboos we have nowadays. Just be respectful people and everything would likely be fine! ;з (And I actually regret I didn’t read the comics even though I started and it was recomended to me like a million times. I’m just lazy((9((9()
Omg, so I’m at work right now and for the past 2 days and last Friday we had a new cleaning lady coming in our office: she is really young like 18-20 and the first time she visited us with the old one - I suppose she was like coaching her for the first time, It might have also been her mum. Yesterday she came alone, was a little bit shy, really diligent, I like her and her look. BUT, today when she had come again I was really focused on my work, she did her job, nothing seemed wrong and I went to the toilet room but when I came back I’ve noticed TWO OF THEM COMING FROM FRONT AND BEHIND AT THE SAME TIME. That was an interesting experience: in reality I didn’t have any reaction on my face at all and I’ve seen identical tweens before but it was like a little micro nuke in my soul instantly blowing up before I could comprehand it at all.

These are all the Wendy gifs I have. They’re not crappy, just square and small, I’ve already cropped them and they’re ready to use. I’ve used them on forums. Originally, I didn’t cut the scenes, but who cares. These are all for you ;з.
