Daylin’s parents immigrated from Cuba to London, England and well, he doesn’t have a bad thing to say about his parents aside from them working over two jobs to try to make ends meat meaning he missed out on serious bonding with them which he deeply regretted until the za came and swept any thoughts that wasn’t that of survival. Not long story short because he felt that of a stranger to his own parents and siblings, Rick left London on a one way ticket to America when he was of age to do so. Somehow, ending up in LA where he’d find something that he’d never thought he’d find that of the love of his life, he fell and fell HARD!!! for him. And he got the job during that point in time life and jobs moved differently to how his kids would struggle, anyhow he was lucky back then that he and his life partner lived next door to a librarian of the library of LA at the time due to Rick doing odd jobs for them, he took him under his wing and showed him the ropes of the librarian world. And taught him the side hustle of restore books in the basement of the library where the curating cube happens to be. The blow came when the man whom took him in like a son, perished not a week before Rick and his hubby got their first child together. Somehow life went on as it always seems to do so, it was easier with his husband and their child by his side and soon their growing family flourished with another two children and oh, how it was a love fest even up until the za sprung up. Something in which Rick can never look back on as it’ll trigger the water works which he’s certain that would never stop once started and he can’t be that man he once was no he has to be the rock for his group, for them to survive and pretty much hell to the outside world as horrible as that is, it is all about survival and the survival of his people.

He’s not the biggest guy in the room but damn does he pack a mean left hook, though that could be growing up on the mean streets on London and getting into scraps having to learn to defend himself by taking boxing classes and that’s how he made his money to come to America, that of working in the gym on the side and winning a few illegal boxing matches.
Has he saved a stack of books into the cube downstair in the basement of the library, yes because he hopes when this is all over they’ll be able to scavenge the little of humanity that remains. Or is it for the future of them, he’s not sure what truly drove him to place books in the curating cube but that’s what he was doing when the shit hit the fan and he got stuck there and let people in whom needed shelter in hopes his family would be reunited but that was futile.
Though he was a father and a loving husband, he’s not the man he once was. He’s had to get his hands a little blooded and to stay on the top, not to mention the unmistakeable change after the first kill of a walker or that of a human whom is pleading to have mercy... we won’t go down that road.
Logical minded is what Rick still is though he also puts it to action, not waiting unless it is called for which is rare. So, he’s become an action Ken doll - just far more dirtier and hella more rugged type of handsome.
