VOICENT INTRODUCES CALL CENTER RULES ENGINE
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA; Fall Quarter 2012
Voicent's Call Center solutions have achieved a new level of sophistication with the addition of a Call Center Rules Engine that enables automated, fine control of call center operations to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Available as an add-on for Voicent's Call Center Manager software, the Rules Engine is included in Voicent's Version 8.5.2 software release, which is now available for download.
Voicent's Call Center Rules Engine is designed for Call Center managers who desire a high degree of control over everything from call distribution to how lines, messages and call center agents are used.
Rules can be easily set, then followed in an automated, disciplined way that does not require human intervention.
Using Voicent's Call Center Rules Engines, Call Centers can:
Dedicate specific line resources for specific campaigns, customers, cloud hosting arrangements or other uses.
Create and manage Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) plans to route callers to specific agents based on sales history, language, location or any other factors.
Manage line usage based on preferred VoIP or SIP providers, desired Caller ID for particular calls, campaign requirements, licensing restrictions or other parameters.
Voicent's Call Center Rules Engine enables Call Centers to employ rigorous discipline by automating processes that minimize costs and maximize profits. This sophistication is provided with the same level of simplicity and ease-of-use that is the hallmark of Voicent's software.
The new Rules Engine is the latest in a series of developments reflecting Voicent's focus on the cost-savings and competitive advantages available in new VoIP-based Call Center technology, whether provided in-house, or through cloud services.
Earlier this year Voicent introduced its Call Center Manager software, which provides easy agent training, call monitoring and automated compliance with U.S. Federal Trade Commission Telemarketing Sales Rules (TSR).
Voicent also implemented dramatic improvements in the way its software uses computing resources, enabling its popular communication tools to achieve professional Call Center-grade scalability. The improvements, included in Voicent’s version 8.5.0, enable a single, ordinary laptop or desktop computer to handle thousands of in-bound and out-bound calls while maintaining excellent call quality.
Call Center Manager is designed as an optional management tool for Voicent’s AgentDialer predictive dialer software, or Voicent’s auto-dialer product, BroadcastByPhone.
Among the key features of Call Center Manager:
Monitors workloads, automatically adjusts outbound dialing pace to reduce dropped calls caused by reaching more live callers than agents available to handle them
“Whisper coaching” feature enables supervisors to provide live-call feedback to new agents that’s inaudible to customers
Real-time and historical tracking of call center resources & campaign productivity
Easy call monitoring and recording
Works with AgentDialer predictive dialer or BroadcastByPhone auto-dialer software

RELEASE 8.5 HAS CALL CENTER-GRADE SCALABILITY
Now capable of handling thousands of simultaneous calls on a single computer
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA; September 22, 2012 ~~ Dramatic improvements in the way Voicent software uses computing resources have enabled the popular communication tools to achieve professional Call Center-grade scalability. The improvements, included in Voicent’s version 8.5.0 released today, enable a single, ordinary laptop or desktop computer to handle thousands of in-bound and out-bound calls while maintaining excellent call quality.
The increased capabilities especially strengthen Voicent’s BroadcastByPhone and Agent Dialer tools, however, all of Voicent’s software solutions benefit from the improvement, including its IVR Studio tool, which is an easy-to-use Interactive Voice Response application designer used create sophisticated navigation menus for phone systems and other custom business application integration and development.
“What’s most impressive about 8.5.0, is that it was achieved without affecting Voicent’s extraordinary ease-of-use,” Jerry Scharf, Voicent Director of Marketing, said in a prepared announcement.
“That means our software remains appropriate for the small-business user, while offering the scalability needed for national or even global Call Centers and Contact Centers,” Scharf added.
Voicent’s version 8.5.0. release marks the Mountain View, California-based software company’s continued focus on the application of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology to achieve new, state-of-the-art Call Centers.
Earlier this year, Voicent introduced its new Call Center Manager software product to help Call Centers comply with regulatory requirements, maintain efficient use of resources and provide fast, highly effective training for new agents.
Last month, Voicent published a special report detailing the significant advantages of VoIP-based Call Centers compared to old-fashioned, hard-wired centers, including:
Elimination of dependence on phone company installer schedules
Elimination of complex hard-wiring, switching and other costly telephony requirements of old-fashioned call centers
Dramatic reductions and/or elimination of carrier calling rates
Enabling of integration of Instant Messaging, SMS, email and other communication modes to create “Contact Centers”
Allowing even small businesses to offer “big business” sophistication such as on-hold music or messages, multi-lingual menu capabilities and self-serve opportunities
Enabling de-centralized agent locations while maintaining excellent oversight and on-the-job training capabilities
Offering flexible, work-from-home opportunities for retirees, well-educated, technology-savvy Gen Y, and physically handicapped
Voicent’s BroadcastByPhone is a VoIP-based auto-dialer that uses your computer to deliver personal calls or leave answering machine messages in your own voice or a computer-generated voice.
The software is inexpensive to purchase, but more significantly, requires no monthly, annual or per-call fees. Like all Voicent software, once you purchase it you own it for life.
Voicent's Agent Dialer is predictive dialer software designed to dramatically increases productivity and bottom-line campaign results by automatically dialing, skipping busy, no-answer and disconnected lines, optionally leaving a voice message on answering machines and--most importantly--never involving Call Center staff on calls until a live person answers.
When a live person is detected, the software pops up a window on an available agent’s computer, detailing the person's name and number.
Both software tools include numerous time-saving features, such as automatic list scrubbing against Do Not Call lists, interactive touch tone response, voice-activated command and response capabilities, call scheduling and much more.
VOICENT ANNOUNCES SOLUTION FOR ANALOG PHONE LINES
Now, Voicent works with everything from Avaya to MagicJack to residential lines
Mountain View, CA, June 20, 2012--Voicent Communications, a leader in affordable, easy-to-use communication software, has announced a solution that enables its automated phone, text and email broadcasting tools to be used with old-fashioned analog phone lines.
Voicent's software uses VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) to transmit and even generate telephone messages by ordinary desktop or laptop computers.
In addition to VOIP, Voicent software works with analog phone lines but only through a voice modem, a near obsolete piece of equipment that is poorly supported by new Windows operating systems, such as Vista.
As a result, users with newer computers but telephone connections limited to old-fashioned landlines, cable company phone lines, extensions on older PBX systems, or analog-only VoIP services, such as MagicJack, Ooma and Vonage, were either unable to easily connect to Voicent's automated communication software or experienced poor call quality.
.
Now, with the purchase of a widely available "Voice Gateway," Voicent's installation wizard will guide analog-line users step-by-step, enabling them to effortlessly install, set up and begin using Voicent's voice broadcasting, automated appointment reminders and other software.
Information and instructions on how to use Voicent on analog lines is available on the web. The company even recommends a specific manufacturer and model (Cisco's SPA3102) for single-line users.
The Voice Gateway acts as a phone adapter, connecting the telephone network to the computer network and providing a bridge for voice calls to be transmitted.
Voicent is a crime-fighting star in Hollywood
May 11, 2012--The Miami Bureau of the Associated Press published a story about the City of Hollywood, Florida's success in using Voicent's BroadcastByPhone software to reduce the blight of illegal roadside signs. The story, by Kelli Kennedy, spawned stories across the country.
Click to watch the story from Associated Press's web site
Voicent's BroadcastByPhone has many, many uses, not the least of which is a code-enforcement tool for communities fighting the scourge of illegal signs strewn along highways and packed into intersections.
Many communities are using Voicent's BroadcastByPhone to take advantage of the signs' weakness--they include phone numbers to call for whatever product or service the sign is offering.
So, community officials put those numbers into BroadcastByPhone and tell it to call them. Over and over and over until the owners of the illegal signs take them down and pay a fine.
The effectiveness of the solution in the city of Hollywood, Florida, attracted an Associated Press reporter based in Miami to do a story for print and broadcast media.
The story wound up going national, with ABC, CBS, NPR, Washington Post, The New York Times and other major news organizations picking it up.
Here are links to the stories in:
Coincidentally, on the same day, a story in Broward County's Sun-Sentinal newspaper reported that a legal challenge to the City of Hollywood's use of the crime-fighting tactic was rejected, allowing Voicent to continue to patrol the clean streets of Hollywood.
'LIKE' OUR BULK EMAIL SOLUTION, GET IT FOR FREE
Social network promotion offers free BroadcastByEmail license
Mountain View, CA, March 26, 2012--Voicent is offering to trade free licenses for its BroadcastByEmail software for anyone who tries the tool and then recommends it on social networks.
The promotion, which represents the first time Voicent has ventured into the world of social media, is aimed at charities, faith communities and other nonprofit organizations. However, any person or organization can take advantage of it.
Essentially, the promotion involves downloading a free trial of the newly redesigned email broadcasting software, installing and testing it.
If the trial goes well and the tester would like to continue using it, he or she need only "like" Voicent on Facebook and "g+1" Voicent on Google+. Optionally, users can also "recommend" Voicent on Linked-In.
In return for the recommendations, Voicent will issue a free BroadcastByEmail software license to the tester. The software normally sells for $499.
In addition to publicizing its array of communication software, the company is using the promotion to try to help small businesses and nonprofit organizations employ a powerful sales and customer relationship management tool.
Voicent's BroadcastByEmail tool is a powerful bulk emailer that enables organizations to easily broadcast promotional offers or newsletters to customers and prospective customers.
Once it is setup, the software enables users to, with a single click, broadcast an unlimited number of personalized emails and automatically track when or if they are opened.
The software will also automatically handle bounced emails and manage un-subscribe requests.
BroadcastByEmail broadcasts both simple text emails, and color- and photograph-rich HTML email.

VOICENT INTRODUCES CALL CENTER MANAGER SOFTWARE
Automatically monitors and manages regulatory compliance while maximizing efficiency
Mountain View, CA, January 3, 2012: Voicent Communications, a leader in VoIP-based communication tools for business, has introduced a new software product to help Call Centers comply with regulatory requirements, maintain efficient use of resources and provide fast, highly effective training for new agents.
Voicent’s new Call Center Manager provides automated monitoring of workloads and management of threshold limits to meet limits on U.S. Federal Trade Commission-regulated dropped-call rates.
Violation of dropped call rates, which is a common problem for telemarketing campaigns powered by predictive dialers, is punishable by fines of up to $16,000 per incident.
In addition to regulatory compliance benefits, Voicent’s Call Center Manager provides easy call monitoring, recording, and a special “whisper coaching” capability that greatly speeds the training of new call center agents. The software also provides real-time and historical statistical tracking and reporting to monitor and manage the efficient use of call center resources, and productivity of campaigns.
The reporting capabilities also qualify Call Centers for the “safe harbor” provisions of the FTC’s Telemarketing Sales Rules (TSR). The safe harbor provisions protect qualified call centers from prosecution for occasional or inadvertent violations of its dropped-call limit.
Call Center Manager is designed as an optional management tool for Voicent’s AgentDialerpredictive dialer software, or Voicent’s auto-dialer product, BroadcastByPhone.
Real-time and historical statistical tracking of call center resources & campaign productivity
Easy call monitoring and recording

Message system for unwanted, illegal signs is working in St. Johns County
Feb 23, 2011 - The Florida Times - Unions (jacksonville.com) published the following article regarding an innovative use of Voicent broadcast telephone software to enforce sign regulations and preserve roadside scenic views.
With new method, complaints are down by 97 percent
By Shakaya Andres Florida Times-Union
With a new automated phone system that reminds people as often as 20 times a day about infractions, St. Johns County has dramatically reduced the number of unwanted and illegal signs planted along Florida A1A and other roads.
Since code enforcement officials began using Voicent Communications in January, complaints have decreased by 97 percent.
From Jan. 1 through Feb. 17 last year, there were 32 new illegal sign complaints countywide, said Code Enforcement Supervisor James Acosta. This year in that time-span, one complaint was reported.
"The system can call them 20 times in one day and they will get 20 messages," he said. "I think they will start understanding."
Ponte Vedra Beach resident Clara Cowan applauded the new messaging system, complaining about signs like a real estate ad on wooden posts that stood along a road until it faded and started peeling recently.
"I think that's an amazing phone system," she said.
VOICENT PRODUCTS NOW SUPPORT SIP BASED VOIP SERVICE
New release enables cost saving through standard based VOIP
Santa Clara, Calif. - July 10, 2009 - Voicent Communications, Inc (http://www.voicent.com), a provider of comprehensive business phone software has announced the support for SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) among all its current product lines, including: IVR Studio, Flex PBX, Agent Dialer (predictive dialer and force dialer), BroadcastByPhone Autodialer, and Voicent VoiceXML Gateway. With SIP support, customers can now manage and automate their incoming phone calls and outbound campaigns without any telephony hardware, making Voicent software easy to setup and maintain, and making the Voicent solution ideal for large enterprises and small businesses alike.
Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is an emerging standard for Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP). It allows enhanced voice services to high speed internet users, over DSL, ADSL or cable modem. Being an international standard that is fast becoming mainsteam, SIP allows businesses to achieve huge savings in their telephone operating cost - made possible by more competition among VOIP service providers.
For enterprises that have already deployed an SIP based solution, such as SIP compatible PBX system, Voicent software can be easily configured to use the exising infrastructure. For example, a customer can create a powerful IVR application that is fully integrated with the existing customer database and company website, by simply using point-n-click operations in the intuitive development environment of Voicent IVR Studio.
For businesses that are adopting SIP and VOIP technology, Voicent provides a complete solution for managing both inbound and outbound phone calls. Voicent software can be readily configured to work with any SIP-based service provider.
"Nowadays, there is absolutely no need for a business to purchase a traditional phone system", said Jeff Larson, vice president of product development, Voicent. "By adopting VOIP, which utilizes an existing internet connection for phone calls, a business can avoid costly hardware installation and maintenance, and in addition, enjoy low nation-wide calling rates. With SIP support, Voicent products are well positioned to provide our customers all the necessary tools to operate in this new and exciting environment."
Pricing and Availability
SIP support is availabe in release 7.0.2, currently in beta. Besides SIP, Voicent software also supports Skype and traditional phone lines.
A trial version can be downloaded from Voicent website (http://www.voicent.com/download). Customers who purchase now can upgrade to any future 7.x production release for free. Products can be purchased from the Voicent online store (http://www.voicent.com/store), and prices start at $299.
Voicent Supports Skype.
Cupertino, Mar 15, 2008 -- Voicent today released the latest version of its telephony software, making it possible to enjoy free and cheap phone calls through Skype. Skype is a voice-over-IP technology that allows users to make telephone calls over the Internet to other Skype users free of charge and to landlines and cell phones for a fee. Skype calls require no telephony hardware and no physical telephone lines.
"This release made many people realize that Voicent's easy-to-use products get even easier. By utilizing Skype as an option for making telephone calls, customers now have a choice of a software only solution. With Skype, there is no need to install voice modems or to connect telephone lines." said Jeff Larson, vice president of product development, Voicent. "Many customers have asked us for this feature in order to take advantage of the low cost and many other benefits offered by VOIP. Release 6.0.1 certainly delivered an ideal solution for these businesses and organizations. The new release has put Voicent products way ahead of any other similar product on the market."
Release 6.0.1 still supports regular landline connections through voice modems. It is possible to use voice modems and Skype together on a single computer. Prior to this release where using voice modem is the only choice for making phone calls, the call capacity (number of phone lines) is limited to the number of PCI slots on a computer motherboard. With the addition of Skype support, call capacity can be easily extended beyond the fixed modem lines.
This release also runs on Windows Vista, Microsoft's newest Windows operating system. Now the software supports Windows 2000, 2003, XP, and Vista.
Voicent products include inbound and outbound applications. BroadcastByPhone autodialer, AgentDialer (predictive dialer), AutoReminder (automatic appointment phone reminder), and IVR Studio (inbound IVR and GUI application development tool). All applications are developed on the platform of Voicent Gateway, an open standard based VoiceXML gateway.

Small Churches Use Technology to Save Time and Money
ATLANTIC, N.C., June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Small churches with fewer resources are embracing technology as a means of controlling costs and upgrading services for their members. This involves doing more with less, and is one of the greatest challenges facing most churches today. For these churches -- with very limited budgets and little or no staff beyond the pastor and volunteers -- the Internet is offering cost-effective, easy-to-use technology can measurably stretch resources.
Chris Humphreys, Pastor of Atlantic United Methodist Church, Atlantic, NC, has no staff, which he says is typical of most small churches, particularly in rural and fishing communities. Despite this, he averages more than 90 of the 120 active members at Sunday services, and more at events.
"I'm it when it comes to the administrative stuff... I'm the guy," Humphreys says. "We use a computer for most of the regular tasks so it made sense to try to maximize its value. I checked out the Internet and found a very viable solution for one of our needs," he says.
"About two years ago, we downloaded the automated system that frees me up for pastoral duties rather than bogging me down with administration. It cost $299, and was the only system that we could find within our budget. For us, it was an expense that required some thought and a board vote, but we find it exceptionally helpful and our church members told us during the trial period that they loved it," Humpheys says.
The BroadcastByPhone auto dialer software from Voicent Communications, http://www.voicent.com is in use by many churches around the country as a technology-conscious way to reach people in the community and to boost attendance at meetings and events, as well as notifying them very promptly about church news.
According to Humphreys, he initially downloaded the free trial software (http://www.voicent.com/download/) on the Voicent website. "Within a few months, we recognized how valuable this was for reminding our members and others in the community about meetings, activities, fund raising efforts and other events where a quick reminder can change the attendance pretty dramatically for a small organization. We then took our vote and purchased the product." Humphreys entered all of the phone numbers (approximately 400) in his church's area code. "I could have gone further with other codes, but most of our attendance comes from within this code, and we can easily reach them all with the BroadcastByPhone," he adds.
It takes only a few hours to complete about 225 phone calls using the Voicent system, compared with days for a person to accomplish the same job. Because it is boring and tedious, and the caller frequently talks to an answering machine rather than a human, the task is also among the least popular tasks for any worker to undertake.
Prior to adding the calling system, Atlantic United Methodist Church used regular mailings and posted flyers as event reminders, he explains. "We were able to cut down the number of mailings dramatically. This was a much more expensive way to go, so we are also saving money regularly with this solution."
As Humphreys is moving on to another pulpit in North Carolina, he is training others to use the Voicent technology and, if there is interest in his new church, he is prepared to offer them a cost savings and highly functional solution.
"As with any church," he adds, "it will be up to the board."
University of Wisconsin adds Voicent to its E-Commerce courses
"Voicent's focus on standards-based VoiceXML and Voicent Gateway product offer a unique opportunity for students and faculty to learn and develop new and compelling XML web services. As a member of Voicent's growing developers network, we are confident our "Building E-Commerce Systems with XML & Web Services" course will be enhanced by Voicent technology and add tremendous value to our students' education. In addition, we are very excited to use Voicent's BroadcastByPhone application to connect with alumni and sponsors of our academic program." Andrew C. Jakubczak Associate Director, Information Systems Program UW-Madison School of Business Operations and Information Management Dept.
Ever since W3C accepted VoiceXML specification, interactive telephony applications have been moving fast toward this open standard. However, since most VoiceXML solutions are built on expensive telecom equipment, developers normally have to login to a vendor's website to develop and test their applications. The cost and inflexibility have greatly limited the potential for this standard. Most solutions are targeting large businesses like banks and airlines.
Voicent Gateway can be deployed on a PC with a standard voice modem. It is finally possible to realize the cost savings from VoiceXML for small businesses and organizations. Our developer network members are actively creating innovative telephony applications for this market.
Voicent AutoReminder is widely used by healthcare organizations and individual medical offices for appointment reminder calls. Voicent AutoReminder provides an easy-to-use appointment scheduler with automatic outbound reminder calls. The reminder call message is recorded by professional voice talent and contains appointment data, time, customizable fields. With support for difference interface mechanism, such as file import, command line interface, and HTTP (web) interface, integrations with existing office management software or other scheduling software are straightforward. Voicent BroadcastByPhone is deployed in many small businesses, churches, schools, and a wide range of organizations. Voicent BroadcastByPhone delivers pre-recorded message to thousands of people over the telephone by a single click. With Message Designer, combined with advanced speech technology, the software is also capable of sending personalized messages based on a pre-designed template. ABOUT VOICENT Communication matters. Voicent is motivated by the belief that great communication builds great businesses. Our software empowers healthcare professionals, business owners, religious leaders, and activity organizers to better communicate with people while at the same time, save time and money.
California Political Candidate Uses Newly Released Voicent BroadcastByPhone Software to Provide Personal Touch in Reaching Constituents
LOS ALTOS, CALIFORNIA November, 2004 When Los Altos Hills resident Craig Jones decided he wanted to make a serious difference in public education, infrastructure, and other issues surrounding this affluent Silicon Valley community, he wanted his voice to be heard by running for Los Altos Hills City Council. Jones wanted to personally reach the more than 2,500 registered voters of the picturesque Los Altos Hills community, but he was faced with the problem of how to effectively deliver his messages. Besides exhaustively walking door-to-door through the rolling hills, he used the newly-released Voicent BroadcastByPhone software, developed by Voicent Communications (http://www.voicent.com), as an alternative approach. The product was released just in time for the start of the November 2 political campaign.
BroadcastByPhone is an easy to use, automatic PC-based telephone notification system designed for small businesses and organizations that need to effectively reach large numbers of people but in a highly personalized manner. BroadcastByPhone's rich features make it an ideal communications tool for group event notifications, political campaign promotions, fundraising, customer surveys, service reminders, product promotions, and other activities.
BroadcastByPhone provides an advanced features set that enables users to record their own voice messages using any telephone. Users no longer need to worry about noisy microphone recording. They can broadcast their voice messages at a set broadcast time with automatic retries if the line is busy or there is no pickup. The software can detect a human voice versus an answering machine, and provides interactive voice commands for human responses. Users can also record incoming RSVP messages so they can gauge their recipients' responses. BroadcastByPhone's user-friendly call log viewing gives users complete status details about their calls.
BroadcastByPhone's powerful message designer feature allows users to compose and edit personalized individual phone messages using a mixture of text-to-speech and voice messages. BroadcastByPhone also allows users to easily import call lists from their existing database, using the Microsoft's Excel spreadsheet interface. In addition, it checks the US Federal Do Not Call List. This feature is included in every version of the product, including the product's shareware version.
According to winning candidate Craig Jones, Voicent BroadcastByPhone helped him personally reach all of the Los Altos Hills residents. "The [Viocent] automatic dialing program was an effective boost to my City Council campaign. It complimented my direct mail and personal contact in a very cost and time effective manner. We estimate that my calls reached virtually 100% of the homes in our town, and provided a personal touch. It was great knowing that all our residents heard from me personally."
Kathy Evans, campaign manager for Jones, explained how BroadcastByPhone was an effective communications tool during the campaign. Evans said, "It would have taken us hundreds of hours to call every member of our community. BroadcastByPhone was a great product that helped us in many ways. This is the product to use for anyone running for public office, wishing to contact their customers, or even calling for school phone trees!"
