The Lovers - Konstantin Somov
Somov was a Russian artist who, along with Sergei Diaghilev and Leon Bakst founded the magazine World of Art which ultimately became an art movement across Europe during the early 20th century. It was a fascinating group of artists exploding creativity in a wondrous era. Try to imagine any LGBTQ people doing such a thing in Russia today. Click his name above to go to Gay Influence and check out this unusually good Wikipedia article.

Pencil sketch by Alson Castro
Sometimes artists hesitate to show some parts of their process. A drawing that is not perfectly finished may end up at the bottom of a pile of papers. There is a lot of insecurity, expectations and anxiety involved in a simple drawing. Unfortunately, the image you see on the internet does not always convey everything the artist felt with each stroke of the pencil on the paper.
