H.P. Lovecraft was born on August 20, 1890, in Providence, Rhode Island. The horror magazine Weird Tales bought some of his stories in 1923. His story "The Call of Cthulhu" came out in 1928 in Weird Tales. Elements of this story would reappear in other related tales. Summary:

Patroclus was the son of Menoetius, ruler of the kingdom of Opus. Being born to a 'normal' mother and tend to be foolish, Patroclus grew up to be the same 'ordinary' child as his mother. His body was thin and small, his run was slow, and could not fight. His father was disappointed to learn that the only successor to the throne was a weak boy.

One day Patroclus accidentally killed the son of a royal nobleman in self-defence, Menoetius reluctantly exiled his son to the small kingdom of Phthia and that's where he first met Achilles.

Achilles was a free and friendly son of the king, unlike Patroclus who was always force-fed by palace protocol. At first, Patroclus was jealous of him because, in addition to his matchless looks, Achilles' free nature could never be obtained by Patroclus. But one day Achilles found him in a food warehouse and finally made Patroclus his right-hand man. From there, slowly the two boys began to close relations until finally realized that they were in love.

The Song of Achilles is a retelling of Homer's Iliad story that tells of the Trojan War. but the story focuses on Achilles and Patroclus's interpersonal relationships.

Point of View:

(+) I like how Madeline Miller presents the story of Achilles and Patroclus relationship with Greek mythology in it.

(–) because of the two romantic sides of Achilles and Patroclus to more than half the novel containing the development of the relationship between the two protagonists and the time of the story entering the round of Trojan war was felt a bit interesting to read.

Closing statement:

The novel is an LGBT-themed novel because it focuses on the romantic relationship between Achilles and Patroclus with other crazy Greek mythological stories. so I don't recommend this novel to people who don't feel comfortable with the story.

However, The Song of Achilles is a successful form of the metamorphosis of legend and mythology in a more modern way. Madeline Miller has succeeded in making a modern epic that is easily digested by the current generation while maintaining its compatibility with actual legends. (spoiler alert the protagonist dies in the end (T_T))

But unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi's luck turns to the worse after his single companion, revealed to be the kingdom's Princess, betrays him, steals all his belongings, and leaves him devoid of all assistance and supplies after she falsely accuses him of sexually assaulting her.

After the accuses his mentality changed abruptly, the good and innocents naofumi turn into more badass action characters with bad luck but still have a good ending.

My point of view:

The novel have a good ending so is kind of cool to read, you'll feel find a lot of Action and Adventure. The best part of novel is already be adapted to anime and manga.

I very recommend this for all the otaku of whole universe because of the isekai world ┐(ﾟдﾟ┐)
