My Holds of Skyrim Shield Tables.

The Idea came from @volpin-props when he turn his old shield into a table as well.

I’m a big believer in giving props a comfortable and honorable retirement whenever possible.

Commissioned by Riot Games, this battle damaged and rusty Fishbones is based off the weapon artwork in Jinx's character reveal cinematic "Get Jinxed".

While this is the second Fishbones I've completed, many of the parts still needed to be hand-shaped (such as the armor plates, handles and back fin) making this replica as much of a one-off as my original project. For this V2 revisit, the opening jaw mechanism was redesigned to be more robust and easier articulate with the trigger hand. Painting techniques were also changed, switching from enamels to urethane paints for a more durable finish. The overall build architecture remained very similar from V1 to V2, employing epoxy resins and lots of PVC sheeting.

Fishbones is comprised of eighteen individually sculpted, painted and weathered components. Like his twin, he has illuminated eyes, an articulated jaw, and has been built to be as lightweight as possible while remaining a highly accurate replica. A lot of people, including my photo editor, have complained that this is hurts their brain/eyes.  Good, good.  Created as a promotional piece as part of Pixel Titans’ Kickstarter for their retro first person shooter STRAFE, the Strafe Shotgun may look like a real weapon, but don’t let the high resolution graphics native to the world of Strafe fool you. What you see here is a non-firing replica! The pixelated appearance was lifted directly from in-game assets. Unlike many game-resolution textures which would be insufficiently sized for real life printing, the large blocky nature of STRAFE’s visuals made these tiny files ideal. Texture maps were printed directly to adhesive-backed vinyl and the entire replica was wrapped instead of painted to better convey the look of broad, flat pixels. The final piece measures a little over 31″ in length, consists of four individually cast urethane parts, and weighs just over 5lbs. A winner was chosen as part of the “Volpin Giveaway” and one lucky project backer received this shockingly realistic weapon after the Kickstarter was successfully funded.

Since we hit the 1st Patreon exclusive prop build, my patrons are voting on what they want to see me build first. The build will take place over a couple of months and will be streamed to patrons, showing the entire process from start to finish, and there will likely be kits available afterwards. (plus, one lucky person from the “Lathe” tier will win one of the completed props I build this year!) The voting is almost neck and neck right now, with the Team Omniblade in the lead, followed by the Glass Sword and the Fat Man tied for second place.  Voting closes January 31st! I built a leatherworking stamping maul! This was a little craft project trade for my friend Allegriana (https://www.facebook.com/Allegriana) I know absolutely nothing about leatherwork, but I hear mauls like this are a lot better to use for tooling and stamping than regular ol' mallets. This is a copy of a readily available design, but I'm a replica artist, so that makes sense. Materials were brass, gabon ebony and nylon. Also I suppose a few nuts and some threaded rod, too. Update: She named him Darth. Darth Maul.

So I started a Patreon.

If you follow my facebook, I’ve been talking about starting a Patreon for a little while, to help free up some time in my otherwise slam-packed schedule to start doing more streams, recap vids, tutorials, etc. And it’s finally live! I made an intro video and everything.  Anyway, to start the year off, I’ll be doing a livestream on Sunday for patrons, where I’ll be working on the sculpt for the Curse broadsword.

I feel like I say this a lot, but no matter how well or poorly it does, I'm absolutely going to keep posting the same amount of progress pics and build videos I always have. Patrons will get to see things first and have a direct hand in deciding what I make, but ultimately everyone will get to see the content I put out. My work isn't suddenly going behind a paywall, I'd just like to make and share even more cool stuff. Happy 2016! Thanks for your support over the years - let’s all make awesome things.

The Cael Hammer was built for Supergiant Games to display at Penny Arcade Expo East 2015. This replica was used in a photobooth by convention attendees, and has been constructed to be both lightweight and durable in order to withstand thousands of pairs of hands wielding it over the course of a three day weekend. Since Bastion is an isomorphic perspective game, a new high-poly render was created by studio artists specifically for this project.

Fully assembled the Cael Hammer is 44 inches long. Being constructed from foam and hollow vacuumformed panels keeps the weight to 3.5lbs.
