What is Presoteric?
Presoteric, Pre-Esoteric or Presotericism is a new system of spirituality, occultism and magick based largely on objective fundamental science rather than mysticism and metaphysics. In fact, the term Presoteric/Presotericism was created in direct contrast to the term metaphysics (meaning beyond physics/science). We do not believe that the reality of the esoteric is supernatural or metaphysical, rather we believe they can and have been explained by the science of today. As such we have set out to prove through our own experiments and research the science behind real magick. Our intention is to outline the science within various occult topics and construct a system of spirituality and occultism from for anyone to apply and practice. We recognise that science can and has explained several of the phenomena experiences in these various subjects, however, we also fully acknowledge the necessity for subjective mythology, symbolism and belief. Our aim is to bridge the gap between science and spirituality, illustrating to scientists the value of the empirical application of magick, while also showing practising occultists the mechanics within their own systems.
In our mission to bridge this gap, we have held all of our work to an evidence-based system, forcing us to back everything we produce up with objective analysis and logic. The scientific method is and will continue to be implemented into ever experiment, demonstration and paper that we produce. We intent to produce an evidence-based methodology behind ancient traditions and their practices, providing both scientists and spiritualists a better understanding and a more down to earth approach. We will accomplish these goals by giving our own take on various occult and spiritual topics as viewed solely through the lens of the scientific method. This will allow us to judge each topic objectively, based on evidence rather than on personal biases. This requires us to likewise be objective in our work, demonstrating impartially what is empirical and what is subjective within these areas. While we will investigate, dissect and pick apart various traditions, we do this only to find the scientific sophistication behind it all. While respecting everyone’s right to believe in what they wish, we do, however, strongly oppose any practice that preys on other people and causes them harm.
We have found that certain esoteric beliefs have and continue to be used to scam, exploit and take advantage of hard-working people who don’t have a true understanding of what is occurring. It is our belief that by educating others on the science behind these practices, as well as the ways in which they can be used to exploit, that it will be provided with the means to avoid them and find more beneficial alternatives. In the Occult, we see a community of people looking to find some real benefit for their lives. However, this community coexists with another who only wishes to prey upon the former's hope and ignorance. Our job is to help make the occult community a better place and give people a chance to truly engage in self-development rather than falling into self-destructive fantasies. We see magick leaving an age of old superstition and coming into the new age of science, where it can grow further and flourish.
Our system of Scientific Magick is largely based on two main aspects; the objective and the subjective. These two aspects create the current foundational model for our whole system. The objective aspect of magick encompasses the foundational principles and underlying mechanics for its operation. All magick is a psychological process that relies on intentionally using psychological techniques and processes to manifest a result. This happens through a working and intentional relationship between the conscious and subconscious mind. The systematic mechanism of the ritual process throughout its phases possesses a universally applicable outline.
The second aspect of our current model is the subjective and it is based largely in chaos theory. This includes every potential variable within life and magickal practice. While every ritual uses the same psychological mechanics in order to function, each stimulus used in these rituals (including the person performing the ritual) is solely applicable to the practitioner at hand. The reason for this is because of individual subconscious makeup. Due to the inevitable psychological differences which exist between two given individuals, an immense amount of variation is created. Each person has different associations to the same stimuli, and this variation directly influences one’s magickal results. The subjective fills in the gaps that are to simple and specific for the objective.
