Honestly, as much as I champion evil for evil's sake & not excusing villains sometimes, it just hits me everything Isaak has gone through by the start of Trinity Blood. It's been almost 3,300 / years / since he held finite life & by the end of the apocalypse he couldn't tell you where he came from. He builds himself after surviving Hell based on lore ; it's all that lives with him when all of the insignificant facts have peeled away. & before that ? He was the most magnificent & ruthless beast on Earth. For over a thousand years, he held the faces of hundreds of men & when he finally named himself, he built an empire, molded a duchy into a war machine with the right mortals to debate & dream with. He conned the French royalty, convinced the world he was insane for glee, sailed around the globe & disappeared ( the list of past lives he gives in TB’s main plot & the legends they link back to are astounding, really ). Isaak had a hand in so much. & then Wilhelm II dismissed von Bismarck &, soon, him. They were both too old for the coming age, though they screamed their throats raw at the horizon the Kaiser couldn’t see. Isaak outlasted Otto & he saw Prussia turned to ash. Germany was built with only half of Her self present & no crown nor government Isaak recognized ; when the Treaty took Prussia, finally, it’s easy to say this creature lost almost everything. Oh, he lived, made himself rich & influential again by the turn of the next hundred years, but the last two thousand suddenly meant little. When the world began to burn, Isaak was truly stripped of his glamor : his lover, his second kingdom, whatever remained of his homeland, his connections, his material goods, his homes. There were bombs on his back & he died as often as he lived. &, of course, that battered legacy leads to Cain, to the being who could give Isaak his Earth, whose fire - laced vision fit the Magician’s own as long as he closed his eyes. Looking at TB, it’s amazing to see the scope of Isaak & yet how submissive he is to the god who one day will snap him in half like a once - loved & well - used toy. If not for the Krusnik, who knows what may have happened. Perhaps, Isaak would have scorched the dirt himself in his madness. To see Isaak in TB is to see a solid ghost, something insubstantial that’s been made too real & bled dry & laid upon the floor as a rug & display piece. He’s a fanatic, bending the knee in the hopes that Cain will make the impossible he’s gnashed his teeth at for centuries suddenly possible. In believing in Cain, Isaak believes in miracles & the justification for himself. It’s . . a bit boggling to think of every day Isaak has walked our world from his initial end to his service to Cain. Even measuring it in the scope of the Roman Empire, which he has seen every rebirth of, still makes his life well beyond large. He is always so, so much MORE, but, by the end of Armageddon . . he’s also so much / less /.
There’s no knife you can stab me with that will cut me deeper than the wounds I already have. So go ahead, do your worst. I’ve proven it already, and I’ll survive it.

psa: if you ever send me a meme && i don’t answer it, it’s never because i’ve seen it && gone “oh, it’s them”. if i can’t think of a response to a meme right away, i usually keep it in my inbox, or save it to my drafts, && then wait until i get an idea to answer it. or sometimes if i just can’t think of anything at all, or a few people sent in the same one ( sentence memes ) and i can’t think of enough ways to make each unique, then i’ll just end up deleting it. but that never means i don’t want to roleplay with you, or that you can never send another meme in, or ask to thread. just so you buttercups know !!
