“What do I think of you?” Shino paused, as he collected his thoughts. “I think you’re an extremely capable kunoichi, as much of a genius as either of your teammates, a woman who doesn’t get nearly enough credit for the amount of skill she displays on a constant basis. I think you’re as beautiful as any other kunoichi, perhaps more so, and you’ve proven yourself to be mature and thoughtful as well as captivating and stunning. Overall, I would say you’re a fine kunoichi, who in any just world would be the envy of all who knew you. I believe that about sums it up.” 

Leave it to Shino to speak bluntly and frankly when asked, even if he had answered a bit too frankly there. She probably wasn’t expecting him to just open a floodgate of compliments upon her like that.

Where did that come from? Shino sure was weird. All she’d done was ask him a simple question and he had to make a huge speech about her. Tenten stared at him for a second. Maybe he had misheard her. It was possible, as he was generally more in tune with his insects than with his fellow human beings. Though the things he said were odd... Sure, it had been very flattering to hear, but she was so in shock by it all that she really didn’t know how to feel about it. 

“Um, thanks... But what I meant was, what do you think of my new hairstyle?“

Neji had suspected she was pregnant for a weeks now. She would tire more quickly than usually, her food cravings were becoming more and more unusual, and she seemed to be nauseous often.

“Indeed,” he remarked softly. The genius wasn’t certain how he felt with fatherhood looming, but he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t said he wasn’t all happy.

A gentle hand rest on her stomach, a moderate smile tugging his lips.“ We must take the proper steps to ensure we raise our child to the best of our abilities.”

“Of course,“ she said. As the shock of Neji finding out wore off, she smiled back at him. “I am looking forward to it. I’m sure we’ll both be great parents.“ Tenten leaned in closer, giving him a peck on the side of his chin.

“It’ll be fun to do target practice with them and teach them taijutsu. Once they’re old enough, I mean.“ She paused for a moment, staring up at the ceiling as she thought about the situation. “So... Do you have any ideas for names? It’s still early days, I know, but it couldn’t hurt toss out a few suggestions. I know your clan uses a lot of fire-related names, though I can understand if you want to go with something different.“

There's a reason why great philosophers evoked my name at their symposiums... and it was so that my madness could grant them new insight into the world around them. People won't admit it, but Plato's gathering of old wise men looked a lot more like a frat party."

Sasuke simply laughed.

“I doubt that. You’re the one who brought it along with you. With the intent to grievously harm someone. Or do you think you’d have a claim against me if you damaged it while bringing it down on my head?” Sasuke didn’t mind her coming all the way through to the kitchen and sitting down. He had invited her inside after all.

As she said that plain tea was fine, he started to busy himself with making them both green tea, his attention focused upon it, placing the tall tea cup in front of her a few minutes later.

“Be careful, it’s hot.” He teased. “As for the rest of the stuff you’ve said… I’ve hardly been THAT much of a jerk. I’ve simply been teasing you. And you’re just either attracted to me, or just VERY easy to fluster. I’ve hardly got the best torso in the village, after all. I’m quite scrawny compared to most.” His expertise was kenjutsu and ninjutsu, after all. His taijutsu was a little lacking.

“As for being attracted to you…” He hummed softly, taking a small sip of his tea, before placing the cup back down, running a finger gently around the rim of the cup. “…What if I was? Would that change anything? Surely it doesn’t matter much if I’m attracted to you or if I’m flirting, unless you’re attracted to me as well?”

She grumbled, “I wasn’t really going to use it, not unless you gave me more reason to. I just brought it to prove I’m not some weak, little girl who’s intimidated by you. That, and in case you bolted the door and I needed to bust my way in. I wasn’t going physically hurt you, just confront you. Though I would be upset if something happened to any of my high-end weapons. They’re like my babies, you know.“

Tenten gently blew away the steam from her tea prior to taking a quick sip. “You’re the one who keeps calling me gorgeous. How am I supposed to deal with that? I’ve never dealt with it before. And of course I fluster easily. You try reigning in Lee and Gai-sensei’s constant insanity and see if you can escape unfrazzled. It’s a miracle I don’t have grey hair and ulcers already!“

The way Sasuke stroked the rim of his teacup gave her an odd feeling. She fidgeted in her chair and chewed on her bottom lip. After a taking a large swig of tea, she decided to be blunt about the matter. “Well, sure, I think you’re cute. I mean, you’ve got a nice face and hair. And you’re far from scrawny! Hell, it’d be weird if I didn’t think you were cute, as I’d probably be the only girl in the village to think that way. So I don’t know why it’s a big deal. However, if you are truly attracted to me, I’d prefer if you were straightforward about it. I get tired of never knowing what boys really think about me, if they think about me at all.“

Tenten dropped her jaw in surprise at that question. How did he know? She had been trying to think of the best way to tell him since she found out earlier in the day. Well, that was one problem solved, but now how would she deal with it?

“I guess your byakugan really does see everything!“ she said with a gulp.
